(6)Large 20" 7-Point STAR Pieces for QUILTS~Patchwork~Crazy Quilt Style~FEEDSACK
This comes out of a Century Home Estate Auction. Each 7 point star has a maximum diameter of 19 1/2" and there are at least 25-35 different fabrics that were used to produce each star. I believe that many of the pieces are from old Feedsacks. Every available scrap that the quilter had available to her was obviously incorporated into the construction of these stars. They are machine sewn and upon careful scrutiny of the back of each star. I found tiny bits and pieces of newspaper that she would have used to make her templates/pattern. Unfortunately none of the scraps of paper had dates on them from which would have helped me accurately determine the date the quilter had pieced these together, judging from most of the fabric I'm dating this between 1930s to 1940s. However I'm not an expert on textiles so there is always the chance ... moreI'm wrong. Nevertheless it is a nice collection of six rather large stars that would incorporate well into a quilt top. VINTAGE Textile patchwork Silk& Satin Quilt Measures approx.73” x 85” Each square started as 12" but is now 11 1/2" Some top hand embroidery(feather stitch) but not as much as a true crazy quilt.Wonderful vivid colors. This came straight from an estate sale so I have not washed or ironed this piece especially since it is mostly made of silks& satin. Many vintage pieces of satin. And other fancy silks that were so popular in the late Victorian era have been treasured and preserved. Many of the silk fabrics used in quilts are weighted with mineral salts and other substances. This means the fabrics have been coated with, or have actually absorbed, these substances to give them more weight and a stiffer texture. Unfortunately, weighting substances also speed up the fabric's deterioration. Silk is extremely susceptible to ... morelight damage. Which can be seen in brittleness, splits, and the eventual powdering of the yarns. Sometimes, even though a piece of silk may appear in perfect condition, it can be extremely fragile. Dust and dirt can do a great deal of harm to silk quilts, as can wet cleaning and dry cleaning. Dust, and especially dirt, can actually cut fibers as they expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity Please examine photos for more details. Please read before you bid. This interesting Crazy quilt is made up of many different floral. Novelty, checked, and plaid prints and solids with all colors. Each big block has different size shapes and pieces. 66" x 76" in size. Hand quilted and tightly hand pieced. The backside is 2 shades of muslin and folds over to the front to bind the quilt. It has a brown spot about nickel size as shown and a tiny bit of other faint stain that is not very noticeable. Otherwise in great condition. Feedsacks and other cottons.

ANTIQUE PATCHWORK CRAZY QUILT TOP Silks & Other Silky Pieces 80"x80" Unfinished
This estate find is a very large(80" x 80" patchwork crazy quilt top. With a muslin lining. Most pieces sewn by old sewing machine. The pieces are silk and probably some man-made silky-type fabrics of dresses women wore on Sundays in the 20s and 30s. Note that some are the same patterns in different color combination. So, I wonder if the maker was a seamstress or begged the swatches off a seamstress. The top is well-sewn with no dry-rotting that I can see. The thin muslin backing is peculiar with some hand-sewn repairs(was this all she had available? Of course, she intended to put a nice finishing backing to it. No stains, mildew or offensive oders. Clean. I think it sat in a sealed trunk in a dry attic for all of these years. This would be of fascinating to someone interested in fabrics of the past. Many different silk& velvet scraps in just about every color& print you can think of. in all different"crazy" shapes. There are plaids& hand painted silks, embroidered silks, solid velvets in greens& blues, reds& burgundies, warm earth tones, golds, purples& more. An American flag was hand pieced in one block while a four leaf clover was made in another. All of the stripes in the flag were pieced; it is not a striped piece of fabric. You'll see hearts& some other shapes as well. The embroidery is fantastic ~ It's all done with different colored cotton threads using many different embroidery stitches. There are a few initials embroidered in different places, O, M or W. The entire top was pieced completely by hand, embroidered by hand, all pieced to 15" cotton blocks. You can even still see her basting stitches. Overall, this top is in very good condition. I counted 11 pieces, silks, that have worn through all these past years. There is the commonly found fabric deterioration in some areas primarily in some of the silks and wools overall condition is very poor. The backing is a black cotton and I do not see any tears. The fabrics used are all 100% Cotton solid fabrics. The overall size is 68 X 68 inches square. It is entirely hand pieced and hand embroidered. There are a couple of blocks that are signed and dated. up for auction and picked up from an estate is an old hand stitched log cabin type pattern with zigzag patches. it measures 74" x 61. there are many different types of fabric rectangle patches used. some textured. Velvet and silky satin. some of the silky satin patches have come loose, frayed apart or are missing. i tried to count and came up with about 33 that can be replaced and i tried to show them in the last photos. it is pretty as it is. the bottom side is a satin feel to it and is peachy pink in color. i did not see any holes or damages other than those problems with the 33 or so patches. any questions please ask and thanks for looking

Offering today a fantastic historical quilt from Springport Michigan. This folk art quilt is hand stitched with signatures from many many Springport residents. I am not sure when the quilt was started. However I did find one dated 1927. There are roughly 250-275 names of both men and women. Measures approx 76" x 64" I am not a quilt expert but this appears to have a stitched pocket on the back(top and bottom) to hang on a wall. I am not sure if this is considered a topper. But it is not real thick. The center square has most of the stitching missing but almost all of the other squares are very good. There are a couple tears and and edge wear spots. I found one square that has been removed. There are no moth holes or smells. Colors are clean and brilliant. Primitive Vintage Flour Sack& Calico Postage Stamp. Patchwork Crazy Quilt Offered here is a totally amazing and absolutely genuine. Handmade depression era Postage Stamp Patchwork Crazy Quilt. This quilt has more pieces of fabric in more patterns than on any quilt I have ever seen. There are simply tons of flour sack fabrics in this quilt. There are cherries, ballerinas, paisleys and calicos galore. I could have taken five times as many photos as I did and still not captured them all! The backing is done in an overall paisley pattern and it has been hand tied with red yarn. This quilt does not look like it has ever been used or washed and could stand a good cleaning. However, I would take it to a dry cleaners as the sizing is still in most of the fabrics and there are no lumps from bunched interior cotton. I found one spot where the stitching ... moredidn't catch both pieces of fabric and it will need re-stitched, but that's not bad considering the age of this quilt and its size. This quilt was found in an old trunk at an antiques estate sale here in Colorado and is being sold"As Found" I have not altered or cleaned this piece. Old antique vintage patchwork crazy mourning quilt. 73" x 90" in size. This old quilt is made from woolens and other suit fabrics. A widow would make these from her husband's suits after he passed on. It has a grey flannel backside. The turkey track stitching used to enhance the quilt is loose on some places. It is hand tied and some of those are missing. It has a 4" long tear which is shown in the 3rd picture and a few other small tears that are not real noticeable. It is heavy and postage will be a bit more. A great quilt for cold weather in your cabin. Self-taught.

From the old song Patchwork Beautiful well-cared for antique crazy quilt from an estate in Galion. Ohio. It belonged to Betty Webber who was born October 4, 1926 in Des Arc, Arkansas(passed away February 1, 2011) The quilt is signed with the initials B.O.B& dated"47" It is believed that someone on her father's(William Henry Barlow of Galion, Ohio) side of the family made the quilt. My first guess right off the bat was that ... morethe quilt was finished in 1947 however, after looking at the wool fabrics, the wool yarn& other embroidery thread, plus the back of the quilt, I believe the quilt was made in 1847 so it has been lovingly cared for all these long years. The quilt measures 77" x 66" which would be an accurate size for that era& is made with almost all wool fabrics. There are a few cotton fabrics with beautiful prints as well. There is very little wear to the quilt, only a few patches with tiny holes, I'm assuming moth holes. I have pictured every patch that I found this on. I found no staining. There's a ton of pretty colors& textures ~ blues& reds. Greens& browns, black purple, burgundy in tweeds, solids, herringbone& floral patterns. The embroidery is wonderful ~ most done with thin wool yarn, and some with colorful cotton embroidery floss. There are lots of different embroidered designs using feather stitching, a running stitch, fern stitch, Pekinese stitch, cable, and open Cretan stitch. all done in pretty colors of pink, red, yellow, gold, blue, purple& green. Welcome to my auction. Offered is a great older quilt that is heavy weight with flannel patches on the top and solid flannel backing with makes it well made. I love the different types of fabric. If they could only talk! The quilt it self measures. 66" x 83" and is being seen on top of a full size bed and only fits as a quilt topper on this size a or a full fit to a single size bed would fit better to me. Each block measures roughly 5" x 5.5 and vary in color of wool fabric. The condition is fair for its age. There is obvious damage to. A section that is orange in color and I loaded that image last. The next to last image is on the corner of the quilt and made very very well.The fabric is a wider weave and has become week. The heavy weight corduroy is bright red. Pottery Barn Collectors Patchwork Crazy Quilt and Sham F/Q
Up for auction is a previously used(and loved) collectors quilt and sham made by Pottery Barn. I believe this was called a crazy quilt. It measures approximately 84x84" This is quilted and hand stitched with different shaped pieced patches on top and a plaid on the opposite side. There is a floral print binding. I tried to photo several of the different squares of patterns and the back. This has been used every year during the holidays in a spare bedroom so it's been washed many times. Other than the colors being a little washed out. It's otherwise, in terrific shape. I am also including one euro sham with the auction. See full description below I do not know what size bed fits but I think it would fit all except a king size bed depending on how much drape you want I think this is the craziest patterned quilt I have ever seen as there is no rhyme or reason to the pattern at all I have taken 40 photos of this. But can only show a portion here, please ask me to send you more if you need them. I want you to see all areas that have issues Basically what I did was take photos of each damaged and/or stained sections. And took a few shots of the amazing mix and match of materials used in this quilt: old worn velvet. Corduroy, men's suit material, drapery fabric, etc. It has no stuffing. Instead what they used was ... morematerial to stuff it, which makes it less likely to bunch up, and it does feel smooth as if the stuffing was maybe sewed in with the quilting itself so as not to move with use and through washings Where there are rips or tears. The stuffed inner material with all different patterns and textures shows through which gives it a unique look instead of just seeing fluff coming out The quilt is tied as well. It might be hand tied, I am not sure This quilt is in vintage. Very used, very well loved condition. Would be perfect in a primitive cupboard or folded at the end of an antique bed for display Please do not expect a perfect quilt as I tried to describe and show through photos I believe it is a display quilt rather than a useful one and maybe will need a hand washing to freshen. Vintage Quilt I have recently come across a wonderful group of vintage quilts! These were found in an old cedar/ blanket chest at a South Carolina estate sale. These quilts were hand-stitched using mostly what I believe is Feed Sack cloth. I am always happy to combine items for shipping cost savings. So you may wish to visit my other listings as well. Here is a very colorful quilt. I believe this is a Crazy Quilt pattern. It does have a few spots and tears but the cloth used is still bright. As they fall, A thing of beauty. After all. Douglas Malloch Very nice early 1900's Crazy Patchwork quilt top signed by S. Armbrust. It measures 83" x 82" is in wonderful condition. I could only find a few wear spots which I've pictured for you. There are no stains just lots of pretty colors& scrap fabrics. There are wools& silks. Tweeds, gabardines& cotton in rich dark navy blues, wines& burgundies, mauve, greens, lavenders, black& more in floral prints, solids, plaids The top is made with 9 large blocks, each measuring about 29+" It is accented with a home-dyed wool red floss done in a feather stitch. The blocks on the back were stitched together using a treadle sewing machine. The name, S. Armbrust is painted on with a pretty gold paint. I'm told the top came from Pennsylvania& when I researched that last name, I found that it is a German name. The top is clean& odor-free.
