Vintage Antique Quilt Top Applique Farm Children early 1900s 20 squares
This wonderful quilt top is about 41"x 33" and has never been finished. It has some staining. But no offensive odors(just smells like clean laundry) I don't know why there is some small black pieces of fabric sewn in a couple areas on the back. SWEET 1940'S VINTAGE FLOWER SAMPLER APPLIQUE QUILT TOP
Here is a great vintage hand appliqued floral sampler with a flower basket(great for Easter. May day or Mother's day! and lots of other great flowers: Red poppies, sunflowers, potted tulips, black eyed susan, blue bells. Just as cute as can be. All hand appliqued and button hole stitched by hand. 17" blocks, 15 different flowers. Great condition with just ony tiny spot by a leaf as shown in pic 5. Blocks are machine pieced. Muslin is free of foxing. This top has been properly stored for decades. It just tops a double bed at 52" x 90" and can easily have a border added. Its a gem!

VINTAGE QUILT TOP HAND APPLIQUE& EMBROIDERY TULIPS FEED SACK SWEET CALICO
Here is a vintage quilt top of tulips. It has 16 ivory white squares 17"X17" that all are hand appliqued and embroidered with feed sack calicos in yellows and pinks in green pots. There is a creamy yellow bands separating the squares that is hand sewn. The top and bottom are incomplete. There is an extra piece that fits the top and there is a narrow strip of the same fabric that could be pieced for the bottom. But it would probably look better to buy additional yellow and complete the top and bottom in one strip. It would measure approximately 98"X 100" when finished.The quilt is in good clean smokefree condition. Buyer pays for 2 pounds postage according to zip.

Vintage Quilt TOP 1930s Handmade DRESDEN PLATE Applique Novelty FEEDSACKS
This beautiful quilt top is in pristine condition and comes from the estate of collector who has cared for her textiles like treasures. If you have been looking for the perfect vintage Dresden Plate quilt top deserving of your finishing efforts.look no further. This one has two alternating themes in the blocks. Half the blocks have a tiny print floral theme and the other has floral and novelty prints. Two rare and adorable novelties can be found. One being an elephant print and the other cats(see first close up photo) The fine needle turned applique was done by a very skilled quilter and the piece work has been accomplished with precision with 6 straight and even stitches per inch( counted top side) Everything has been done by hand including the 6" inch floral border. The 20 plates are appliqued on fine quality slightly off-white muslin ... moreand measure 17.5" inches square with plenty of ground for fancy quilting. The overall size is a generous 81" X 98" inches. All fabrics look new and still have the original sizing with no signs of soiling. Just one small brown spot on ground that can be seen on the last two photos. Another small spot found on the backside behind a plate. CONDITION: This quilt top is in excellent condition. There are no rips. Tears or areas of wear to note. The colors are uniform. The condition of the fabrics is excellent. No signs of discoloration. There is a no odor to this quilt top and it does not appear to have been exposed to smoke. Pets or abuse. It look as if it has been kept from exposure to sunlight. Beautiful old Vintage Quilt TOP Hand stitched in the DRESDEN PLATE/Ring Applique Pattern. Measure approx 57"x 72" with 18 blocks to each plate I an not an expert so I don't know the age of fabric. Maybe 30s- 50s feedsacks, hand stitched with black thread. Please note. I have soaked this for a short while(1/2 hr) to see if the freckles- age spots would come out. some of them did. I would soak this overnight in your favorite spot remover(mine is oxi clean) I am pricing this piece accordingly ~ The age spots you can see in the pictures/ the freckles you can not but they are there ~ this fabric could always be made into darling pillows- I just don't want to mislead anyone of the condition/this quilt top was an Estate Find and unfortunately I do not have any history on it. This is a vintage hand pieced applique quilt top. It is about 81 x 63 inches. It is off white with green flowers and a green border. It is all cotton. Each flower is about 5 inches across. The quilt has been in a non smoking household. There are no holes in this quilt top but there are some spots on it. Vintage Hand Sewn, Hand Embroidered COLONIAL LADY Applique QUILT TOP, 85" x 75"
Please notice this might be an unfinished quilt top. In the sense that there are embroidered hearts on the right of the quilt(right" from the point of view of the observer) that do not exist on the rest of the quilt: we have the impression, but we can not prove it, that those hearts were going to cover all the blue squares of the quilt. The appliques and embroideries of the"colonial ladies" are finished and complete, fortunately. This is an old quilt top. But not made of the super old, 100% cotton feed sack fabrics; the fabric used seem to us to be cotton blends. But all the work done is really"old school" the makers of this wonderful top took upon themselves to prepare very nice appliques in the colonial lady pattern, then affix them to the by hand with thousands and thousands of hand stitches that make some kind ... moreof embroidery: please check the close-ups of the back of the quilt top, below, to see this detail. The ladies have each one a different dress and other details. And each one has a different object in hand(one has nothing, just a golden glove) two ladies are holding small books or cards that say: Dear Friend: Thank You" and"Dear, I love you" In this particular sense it might be the quilt top was originally designed and thought to become a friendship quilt. The blocks are sewn together by hand. This top measures 85" by 75" and in the pics below is covering a queen size bed. 80" by 60" but we think the top, if finished with a bit of extra fabric on the sides, can be made into a king size quilt. This is a piece of cotton marked for an appliqued crib quilt. Came from an Iowa estate auction. Solid color cotton for applique did not come with it so you'll have to provide it. Vintage Quilt TOP Handmade SUNBONNET SUE Applique Hand Embroidery Novelty Fabric
Great Vintage Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Top with 1930s blocks and a fun reproduction print border. While the blocks are authentic to the 1930s I believe the border was added at a later date. It looks to me to be a nice reproduction cotton. The print is fun in geometric shapes that remind me of confetti and makes the quilt look like a party. One of the girls even has balloons on her dress. I had a difficult time photographing this top as the light coming from the back makes the top look faded. All the fabrics are nice and crisp and the colors are rich and unfaded. The blocks were hand appliqued and embroidered in the 1930s with vintage fabrics. A close reference to this particular garden themed Sunbonnet Sue can be referenced in Barbara Brackman's. Encyclopedia of Applique, 47.22, attributed to Eveline Foland in Kansas City Star 1930. This top ... morefeatures a girl smelling flowers and wearing pantaloons. The overall size is 68 X 84 inches. There are 20 blocks measuring 11 inches each. They are backed with a very nice light cotton fabric that is like Cloth of Gold. The double sashing measures 3- 12" inches and the border measures 7"inches wide. The strips of fabric making up the border and sashing have been machine applied in nice straight lines. CONDITION: This quilt top is in excellent condition. There are no rips. Tears or areas of wear to note. The colors are uniform. The condition of the fabrics is excellent. This top appears to have been washed once and it is clean and ready to quilt. There is a discoloration on the left corner of the border that can be seen in the last photo. There is a no odor to this quilt top and it does not appear to have been exposed to smoke. Pets or abuse. It look as if it has been kept from exposure to sunlight. It has been very well cared for over the years. It has been carefully stored away from pets and in a smoke free clean environment. 36 11" squares makes this unfinished quilt top 66 X 66. It is all hand sewn. A very old and beautiful piece of work that my friend says has been in her family since the 20s or 30s. The fabric for the dresses could possibly be feedsack but I not sure. it looks more like fine cotton to me and the backing looks more like a linen. I will not guarantee what the fabric is but it is a rare find. There are some stains that show on the reverse side but I will let you laundry or clean as you prefer. Vintage Hand Sewn 100% Cotton APPLIQUE QUILT TOP; Special FAN Pattern; 72" x 71"
The fabric used for the blocks is old cotton. Getting a little cream in color already; it might be sail cloth, as it feels a bit like a thin canvas, but it might be also fabric from feed sacks or flour sacks, we are not sure. The fabrics used for the fans are also old. And they might come from feed sacks, but we are not sure, so please check our close-ups and judge by yourself. The makers used a limited number of fabrics for this quilt top, so there are many swatches that appear on several of the fans, although the order or sequence of the fabrics is different from fan to fan. The actual fans are appliques. Sewn by hand to the sail cloth squares. One type of stitching is very loose, but the one on the edges is tight. It might be this quilt top is a bit"unfinished" we are not sure, please check the close-ups. The blocks are sewn ... moreto each other by hand. The fans were organized in a peculiar way. And that's why we call this"special" pattern. There is a 4-block center, and then the fans are placed in a"concentric" way around the center. Difficult to explain, but if you see our photos below you'll understand what we want to convey. The shape is almost a square. But it actually measures 71" by 72" a bit off a perfect square. For auction: an absolutely stunning tulip quilt top. The tulips are a bright red. With light green leaves. The tulips are 15.5' tall. The 4' square matching light green blocks around edge give it just the right framing. The top was made by a local lady known for her beautiful quilting. I have sold several of her quilts and tops on eBay with all satisfied buyers. The top measures 80' x 92' and is in very good/minty condition. It came from a clean smoke-free estate. No holes, tears, stains, or odors. It has been both machine and hand sewn, as shown. The applique tulips were all sewn by hands, showing wonderful tiny stitching. From a local estate- c1920s Vintage Child's quilt with appliques and embroidery- ABC with a corresponding figure with a letter. Adorable appliques of Birds. Jack-in-the-box, Windmill, Rabbit, Kite.etc. Fabric patterns are from early 1900s era- mostly the 20s. Applique squares are on muslin type fabric spaced with pink cotton squares. All stitching and figures are nicely done. Most of the squares are put together by machine, some by hand. All appliques and embroidery by hand. Charming! Quilt top measures 84 x 71. I found one tiny speck of faint soiling that should easily clean out. No other stains. No holes or tears. No fading. Shown on a queen bed and measures approx: 82" x 74" Structurally in very good condition. No holes, tears or fraying, however there are several spots that are scattered about. The pics don't do justice to this beautiful quilt top. It looks better than we were able to capture with our pics. Probably because we didn't have the right lights at the time. This is a truly old quilt top. With some fabrics that might have been part of feed sacks, although we are not sure of that. All the stars are appliques, swatches set by hand, then sewn by hand to the thick cotton base, which might have come also from farm sacks, as it feels like sail cloth or similar rough cotton fabric. This pattern. As far as we can tell from our"dictionary" of quilts, is called"Double Star" but there are many other names for it, or for similar arrangements of diamonds(similar to our untrained eyes: probably quilters see a lot of differences! It must be shipped to one of the lower 48 USA states. Here is a lovely vintage quilt top looking for a new home. It is hand pieced and hand appliqued using black buttonhole stitches. The quality and condition for it's age. Is very g ood. In my opinion. The top measures 63" by 83" And the border is another 6" wide, measuring to the points of the white squares. Each of the 48 blocks is 10" by 10" The pattern is 3 solid red cherries and 3 ... moregreen leaves on a white background; there is no fading of the colors. The border is very nicely pieced. And lies flat, as does the rest of the top. I do not know the age of the quilt; my guess is that it was made in the 1930's. When black buttonhole stitching on quilts was often seen. All fabrics match. A couple of the blocks still have basting thread running stitches around the appliques. There are no odors. But there are a several dark age type and other stains of unknown origin. There are 2 blocks w ith damage to the black buttonhole stitches; which would be an easy fix. see photos) All the other stitching seems solid and intact. I have owned the top for the past 25 years. And this damage was present when I purchased it. My home is non-smoking. The top has been packed away all it's life. And deserves to be fin ished by the right person. It is a beauty! Wonderful quilt TOP only. This quilt top was done by my grandmother. I was one day going to be ambitious enough to actually quilt it. Well that day never came! So it is a full- size quilt top. Made of light weight cotton. It has twelve squares with different colored Sun Bonnet Sues' on them They are appliqued and embroidered. The main color of the top is a soft powder blue and white. The Colonial Ladies, the Sunbonnet Girl, there is the wicked Overall Sam, engaging in some eBay-censored physiological action related to field fertilization and subsequent improvement of crops. So Sam might not be too elegant, so say the least, but at least we know is a good guy. An the fertilizer is fully organic, to boot. Notice the Sams in our quilt top have the shoes pointing inwards in an unusual manner provided by the imagination of the folk artists. Quilters, who came up with this beautiful top. This quilt top has an off white or very light cream background. It is hand appliqued. It is machine pieced. It measures 74" x 73" There are several age spots throughout ranging from pin dot to pea size and one light tan mark about hand size. One small, lentil size hole, and light fading in a couple flowers as shown in the photos. There is also light age tanning throughout that was too light to photograph. Never washed or used. Vintage Style LARGE Applique Quilt Top w/ Multi-Color LEAVES, 101" X 81"
Beautiful modern day quilt top made in the American applique quilting tradition. The appliques are sewn to the body of the quilt with a sewing machine. And the veins of the leaves were made by hand. The blocks were set with a sewing machine as well. All the fabrics, we believe, are cotton blends. In spite of not being very old. Just probably from the 80's or 90's, the quilt top looks good and we hope it can be converted to a really nice, large quilt. It measures. Vintage 20 block needle turn applique Iris quilt top from Mountain Mist kit NR!
Thinning my collection of vintage quilt tops; who am I kidding? I won't live long enough to finish them all! This is one done from a Mountain Mist kit and features 11" Iris blocks rendered in nicely executed needle turn applique on white backgrounds. Twenty applique iris blocks in two shades of lavender with nile green leaves are set diagonally with plain white blocks and side setting triangles. I've pinned it to my design wall; please note that the top is NOT bordered; the large photo makes it look as though it is. Top measures 60" x 74" It has several areas of light staining throughout; I'm leaving all cleaning and repair decisions to the new owner. Two blocks have very small holes-one is a solid white block. The other is under the applique detail I've attempted to show in the 2nd photo. Vintage Hand Sewn All Cotton Feed Sack DRESDEN PLATE Applique Quilt TOP, 90"x74"
A rather large quilt top for its age: the swatches used for the"plates" seem to us. Who are no experts, as feed sack cottons. We have seen similar fabrics in the past and we've been told by an expert they came from actual feed sacks salvaged from a farm environment. But please check our many close-ups and judge by yourself. The off-white. Almost cream, fabric used as base is also 100% cotton.
