Ideal for reproduction or wonderful used as a decorative textile for any timeworn interior! This textile is an antique French Provencal quilt ~ this textile is two sided the red back side is a wonderful pairing of two fabrics manufactured later than the front ~ The neutral browns side of this textile are wonderfully early dating from c1800-1820~ most likely printed at the Jouy factory ~ this textile has a Fenetre composition in which one fabric is bordered by another. This is the most complicated piecework tradition to Provencal quilts. The autumnal tones on the front side of this quilt are simply stunning ~ The central square was printed using hand carved wooden blocks and is one piece of fabric, rather than being pieced. This side is bordered using a wonderful block printed over-dyed cotton. The central square may have been produced as a scarf and later used to create this amazing textile. The border of the central square is an extraordinary printed piece with wonderful vermicular design on the sides. These fabrics are called called Ramoneur and were woodblock printed. These fabrics can not be exposed to water without risk of extreme damage to the fabrics as the mordants that were used to print these textiles were corrosive with time ~ so this textile is not suitable for water washing ~ The opposite side I would date to c1850-1860. Vintage Antique Quilt Top Applique Farm Children early 1900s 20 squares
This wonderful quilt top is about 41"x 33" and has never been finished. It has some staining. But no offensive odors(just smells like clean laundry) I don't know why there is some small black pieces of fabric sewn in a couple areas on the back. The white sections look like Cotten flour sack material and the stitching looks like machine. We use recycled shipping materials whenever possible. We are a non-smoking. No pets home. Posted with

Each dress and hat have needlework. The blocks turn so that they go around evenly. This does not have batting. There are some small rips on one end of the overhang and a few bleached outbreaks. Antique Vintage ART DECO ULTIMATE 9 PATCH Quilt 10 SPI CHECKERBOARD SQUARES
This is a special quilt because of the tiny quilting stitches and the time and expertise to make the fancy border edge! The quilt is in excellent condition. About 81" x 88" nice and crisp, back is white, has thin cotton batting, and quilt stitches done in 1/2" rows at about 10 stitches per inch, exceptional quilting that really stands out! The individual blocks of color are 2" square. Wanted to mention there are 3 or 4 tiny brown spots, not even readily noticeable because of the patchwork design. This quilt is amazing because it shows no signs of being used or worn, it is crisp as the day it was made, fresh and clean. Vintage Antique 30 Redwork Embroidery Penny Squares Quilt Top 64" x 74"
This is a beautiful very old cotton redwork quilt top(could easily be 1880-1900) which is unhemmed and not backed. It measures 64" x 74" edge to edge. The designs are from penny squares. Which were patterns on muslin sold for a penny very popular in the early 1900s. The redwork is embroidery that was all done by hand and the 10 x 10 squares are entirely handstitched together. The tiny hand stitching is amazing. The cotton fabric is still strong but it is discolored from age and has brownish spots from being stored away for so long. It is made up of 30 different 10"x10" redwork blocks some of which bare the intial(s) of the person who did the stitching. Please note in one photo there is a block which has several holes( I have placed a pencil between the holes to indicate where they are) This item has never been used or ... morelaundered. Unfortunately there is no date on any of the squares. This is from a smoke free environment. See history of Redwork below. Rework Quilting History Very popular from about 1880-1920. Patterns were stitched in red(sometimes blue) on a muslin background. The reason Red was chosen is because it was a sturdy cotton thread that could be counted on not to fade or bleed. Catalogues at the time offered"penny squares"small sheets of muslin with stamped patterns that sold for pennies apiece. Themes on penny squares included historical figures. Animals, flowers, household items, fruit and vegetables, children and nursery rhymes. Pictures had different meanings. For instance, horse shoes were a sign of good luck, angels ensured the safekeeping of children, and each flower had a secret meaning. Antique 6x7-Foot Hand-Stitched Quilt Top w 196 Squares c1900 Description: This is a large 6 x 7 foot quilt top dating. I would guess, to the late 1800s or early 1900s. It is comprised of 196 squares measuring 5 1/2 x 6 inches each- 14 squares across and 14 squares down. The material is mostly cotton but there could be other materials I am not sure. No stitches can be seen from the front. Looking at the stitches from the back, they are somewhat irregular and appear to be made by hand, not on a sewing machine. I see only one damaged square on one edge(last photo) I see no holes or loose stitches, no insect damage and no musty odor. A terrific old quilt top to use as a wall hanging, or to finish. 19 C 1880 Antique Indigo & White Fabric Squares For Doll Dress Or Quilt Repair
19 Pieces Of Used Indigo& White Fabric Circa 1880 Rescued From A Period Quilt Top That Had Condition Issues But Had Not Been Quilted There are 19 pieces of generally similarly sized and shaped fabric. Each pieces measures on average approximately 5 1/8" square. Each piece has a 1/4" to a 1/2" seam allowance parallel to each edge. I have not counted that seam allowance in the measurements above. On each piece between 1/4" to 1/2" from the edges there is a line of sewing machine needle marks. We rescued this fabric from a period quilt top which had major condition issues. This fabric was not quilted nor does it have holes from ties. It is simply rescued fabric that is 130+ years old and is still strong and useable. It would be great for repairing indigo& white quilts or multi-fabric quilts like tumbling blocks. ... moreI do not see any rips. Stains, or tears. The fabric is strong and not dried out or rotted. I do not see any fading. While there are some nicks and cuts along the edges. For used fabric of this age these pieces are in very good condition and will fit in well with quilts of similar age. This is NOT reproduction fabric. This would be great for repairing an antique quilt. Or to use in making clothes for a period doll. We have had this fabric in storage for 20+ years. There is an abundance of needle work and all are in very good condition. The squares each measure 12 1/2" to 13" The first square has the initials of the maker M. H. P. K. These pieces come from an Eastern Connecticut Home. The fabrics are all silk and velvet. There are two squares that need to be finished with the turkey track stitching. All else is done. Very charming antique quilt. Early vintage.1900-1930's in my opinion. She measures 82 x 85" The backing is a solid off white that goes right onto the edge of the front. She does show a few minor flaws.the fabric is shredding on some of the triangles. There is a bluish/gray stain on one of the large squares in the yellow section. There is also a large square that has a faded/whitish in the pics area. Which looks like there was a stain that was over cleaned! There is also a small hole in the white section of that square that is about the size of a quarter. It is just the top fabric.doesn't go through the whole quilt. So I recently went to a farmhouse estate sale and found these in the attic. There are a total of 90 squares. Each measures about 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches.The colors are crisp and bright, and there is quite a variety. There is also a bag of scraps, just in case 90 squares isn't enough. I'm not sure what decade any of this is from, but the house was really old and a lot of the stuff in it looks like it was bought before 1968. Antique Quilt. Diamonds in Squares. Crisp and Unwashed
Striking. Colorful Diamonds in Squares antique quilt made with a stunning array of colorful fabrics from the late 1800s. A very pretty quilt in outstanding condition to use as a bedcover or wall hanging- the photos do not do it justice! The back features cheery blueberry calico bars and a striped. Berry and cream novelty fabric. The binding is the same blueberry calico. This quilt was hand quilted with brown thread at 6 spi. It is mostly hand pieced with black, brown, and cream thread but I do see a few seams that appear to be machine pieced. The quilting is non-intrusive and simply follows the outline of the pieces. The batting is cotton. This quilt is crisp and though there are spots it may never have been laundered. In one corner on the back there is an'L' shaped snag(each leg of the'L' is about 1 cm long) and a very nearby ... morehole about.25" x.25" unshown) There are no other holes or open seams. 8 of the interior pieces have some brown spotting and 3 of the exterior triangle pieces around the border- similar to what is shown in the last image. There are a few discolored areas on the back. Probably waterstains, as shown. These stains are quite visible when you are looking for them, but tend to fade into the quilt at a glance. I only ship to the U.S. Here are two very large incredibly hand stitched quilt squares. They are 24 inches square. Ads you can see they are in various stages of completion. And there is some extra fabric on one because I believe she meant to"stuff" the grape design in the center and never finished. The hand stitches are so tiny. I think one of the names of this apttern is Rocky Road to Kansas or a variation of New York Beauty I'm not really sure but they are old pieces and in wonderful condition. Antique 55x55 Double Sided Quilt w/Silk Block Squares/Hand Stitched/French Knots
Here for your consideration is an antique quilt. This measures 55" x 55" It is a double sided quilt constructed of 576 silk square blocks measuring 2 1/2" sq. Each block is stuffed with batting. They are hand stitched together and finished with French knots. This is in relatively good condition considering its age and silk construction. There are at least 14 blocks with loose stitching or fabric damage that I can see. I have photographed a sampling of some of them. Up for auction are these vintage antique auto quilt squares. They feature the Red Runabout 1909. Buick 1909, Stanley Steamer 1908, Pierce-Arrow 1906, Ford Model T 1908 and The Studebaker Electric 1904. These have been in storage for many years. They do have some yellowing and a couple small stains. Also maybe some water stains that I did not try to get out. Im sure someone who works with vintage quilt square will know how to clean these up. I think these are from around the 30's 40's or 50's just a guess someone who knows these vintage pieces can decide the age. A couple navy colored squares do have a swastika looking print but this quilt was made prior to WWII according to the estate and possibly around 1900. This lovely antique hand-pieced quilt is done in a stained glass or cathedral window pattern on one side and a 4" square patch/ block pattern on the back. It measures 76" by 84" and is very heavy. Weighing over 6 pounds! The quilting appears to be machine done in a zigzag stitch and the stitching is so heavy. This is one quilt that will last for YEARS and YEARS to come! The fabrics, patterns and colors used are numerous, but they have common medium green and soft pink colors joining them, on the window side. Up for bids is this Antique late 19th century Pennsylvania Applique Tulip in Squaree Quilt. The quilt measures 72" x 70" The quilt has a folk art color combination of soft red. Olive green and a butter cream. The quilt is framed with three borders of soft red, olive green and soft red. There is a cluster of three red tulip flowers with olive green stems in a shallow flower pot on a butter cream background. There are 25 of these three red tulip designs. All hand sewn. Condition is very good with some old stain spots and some wear. The known history. Quality, quantity, and vintage make this is a truly rare set of antique quilt block square pieces. This set of twenty 9" star quilt block pieces was created in the 1880s by Hannah Green when she lived in the Chelan area of the state of Washington. In 1912 Hannah gave them to her twelve-year-old granddaughter, Florence Gardner Jensen. Florence carried on her grandmother's interest and talent and became known for her handwork in the Puget Sound area of Washington in the mid 1900s. The quilt block pieces are still safely stored in the old flat stationary box that Florence kept them in.

Antique Late 1800's Early 1900's Quilt Fabric 2 1/2" Squares, Box of 750+ Pcs!
This is an excellent opportunity for the quilter or lover of antique fabrics! This is a group of 750+ cut pieces of fabric that measure 2 1/2" by 2 1/2" square; amazing variety of late 1800's and possibly early 1900's fabrics. Including indigo and lighter cadet blues, double pinks, reds, mourning blacks, checks and plaids. Really nice patterns! These were stored in very neat stacks by color families in a box in a trunk. I am including a quilt block that I think they were going to be used for. I disrupted the neat stacks somewhat to take pictures, but I guarantee there to be well over 750 pieces, probably more like 1000! In very, very good condition, the fabrics are very crisp and immaculately clean, strong with no weakness. About 50 are a bit rumpled and will need pressing, however these are exceptionally nice.
