Quilt is large measuring 81" x 69" ... moreIt is made up of antique wools. Damasks and silks. The back is a dark grey cotten flannel with a tiny fade noted.See photo. The quilt is entirely made up of different pieced fans that each have an attractive feather stitch embroidery design highlighting them. The one fan in the middle is autographed by each of the women who made the quilt. They are: Ana Gaetzke, Delila Martin, Evva Martin, Emma Martin, May Chase, Anna Perry, Emma Kelley, Lizzie Barman. One of the pieces of silk in the autographed fan has wear. Otherwise the entire rest of the quilt is in excellent condition. Since the black pieces are made of different types of fabrics the color of the blacks does vary.Also, a few of spokes of the fan seem to be mich lighter than others. Some are but they do not stand out like they do in the photo.Unfortunately the photos are quite dark and the quilt is more even in color throughout. Very appealing! It is made of silk. Brocade and velvet squares with heavy embroidery and appliques including Kate Greenway figures, swan, crosses, flowers, dogs and many others wonderful figures. It is a friendship quilt made by a circle of friends who have initialled and signed many of their quilt squares. Some of the signatures are dated 1898. Each quilt square is made of tiny shapes ... moreof materials sewn together into a bigger square. The quilt measures 60" x 60" It is a beautifully made quilt rich in colors and shapes. It is over a 100 years old and is not in good condition but quite worn in places. Silk fabric does not age well and some of the silk squares show fabric loss and splits. There are some stains on some of the squares. There are about 17 squares that show silk splitting or damage. The edge stitching is very worn in places and gone in others.The back of the quilt is is worn through in several places showing the batting. I have tried to photograph these areas of wear. A couple of the appliques are gone showing an outline of the figures on the material. I was told by a quilter that a lot of the damage could be repaired or replaced or that many of the squares could be used in another quilt. Antique Early Century Friendship QUILT ~Primitive Handsewn~Vintage Feedsack~#4 While"treasure hunting" we found some very old trunks filled with quilts and quilt tops. The QUILTS are early 20th century. Probably 1920s through 1940s. They are made of vintage fabric, from old clothes, suits, dresses, shirts, and feedsack prints and solids, made in a time when we were not a"throw-away" society. The quilts had been well-used by the owners and were dirty and odorous, and obviously had been stored for many years. The QUILTS have all been laundered and clothesline-dried. They smell fresh now. And I have a smoke free home. The condition of each varies, but considering these were used everyday they show signs of wear: tears, shredding of squares, stains, and batting coming out of holes. Each quilt will be further described in its ... morelisting. QUILT#4- Good well-used condition Measures approximately 72" x 89" Multicolored- Feedsack patchwork in the Criss-Crosses pattern. I just discovered this friendship quilt at an estate sale in Northeast PA. When I first saw it across the room. I thought how well it displayed, how warm and coastal living the colors of blues and reds were and the true folkart quality of it with all the children's names. Measures 64 by 76 inches, perfect for a double bed and great overhang for a twin. Since I can't unfortunately sew a button, I would say it is machine stitched because the stitches are very even. The children's names are hand done in an embroidery style. Displays extremely well over a railing or hung on a wall. The boats remind one of the ocean and also of pond boats. I can not see any stains or tears. It is soft cotton muslin material and has been washed I believe. Large. Fantastic"Friendship Circle" Applique Quilt 95" x 92" The sun has such a pretty quilt Each night he goes to bed. It's made of lavendar& gold. With great long stripes of gold& red. And bordered by the softest tints Of all the shades of gray. It's put together by the sky. And quilted by the day. Laura Coates Reed This quilt is simply beautiful! The pattern is certainly unique with an all-over quilt pattern. This one is called Friendship Circle. Somewhat different from the Dresden Plate pattern. It's a large quilt measuring 95" x 92" so it should fit over just about any bed you have. Made from 100% cotton. The backing is light beige, off-white& bordered in a pretty green. This green is also pieced in the Friendship Circles. There are lots of pretty calicoes& colors ~ pinks& ... morepurples, oranges, red, blues, yellows& more. all pieced completely by hand. The applique work is reversed in the centers. and done very neatly. It's a weighty quilt with all of this fabric even though it has a thin all cotton batting. One thing that I like very much about this quilt is that the quilter added one more"border" to the head of the quilt. This will protect the quilt for years to come(see picture#12) The quilting is exceptional; and with unique designs to. The borders are quilted with a fleur de lis type design& the sashings are quilted in a braid& leaf design. Elaborate large tulips are quilted on bothe sides of the Friendship Circles in each of the corners as well as diagonal lines. Every piece of applique has been quilted inside in like shape& finally. The centers are quilted with a circle. Very neat stitching with 7 spi. You can still see the pencil trace lines. There are just a few stains. Ones that I believe were actually on the fabric before it was made. The quilt has never been laundered but is still nice& clean. And odor-free. Up for Auction: A wonderful Estate Sale find! A 1930's FRIENDSHIP SIGNATURE QUILT TOP with a 6 POINT STAR PATTERN. Made of various great vintage fabrics with embroidered names. Towns and some dates on the opposite pieces around the Star. Several of the names have dates and unless I missed one they are in the 1930's. A lot of the towns embroidered are in Nebraska, but there are some in Kansas, Colorado, Illinois, California, Wyoming and New York. There may be more that I didn't catch. Wonderful Friendship signature quilt. 66" x 80" in size. The front has signatures embroidered onto muslin blocks. These blocks are surrounded by solid color triangle blocks. The signed blocks are separated by 4-patch blocks in many different floral and novelty prints. The backside is off-white and folds over to the front to bind the quilt. The red block in the lower left corner has some yellow stain. One block up from it also has a little bit. This stain shows on the back in the same spots. No holes or tears. Yet fair, these ancient calicoes Bespeak the patient work of one who knows No weariness in finish or design. Amy Smith Very nice applique quilt made in the 1930's in the Friendship Ring pattern. Also known as Dresden Plate or Aster. It measures 82" x 73" All 100% cotton ~ Every color& print you can think of is in this quilt. There are reds& blues, greens& pinks, purples& orange in calicoes& other small floral prints, all pieced by hand and appliqued to a crisp, clean white backing. Please excuse my poor photography. The backing is white; it is not tinted blue. just my poor picture taking skills! I fell head over heels for this quilt for 2 reasons. I love the pretty floral sashing(a ... moretiny coxcomb print) in pink& green but the real reason was because the"ring" pieces are so small. Each piece measures only 1/2" x 2" It's in very good condition with only two loose seams on one piece of fabric. There are no stains& no fraying. The centers of the rings are quilted in a 3/4" grid design while the body of the quilt was done in diagonal lines. The sashing was quilted in a twisted rope design, all done with 8 spi. Vintage Quilt; Home of the Brave design or Album Friendship Quilt Design 68 x 80
This quilt was machine stitched but appears to be very old. Perhaps on an old Singer machine? The fabric is dated. The back is brick patchwork in assorted colors. The top design is that of the"Home of the Brave" quilts made during the Civil War for the soldiers. There are some torn patches, the binding is worn away on the edges and there are stains. I took many photos; please look at all of them carefully. It is a beautiful quilt. It is a very large quilt, measures 68" X 80" The little story below explains the design: During the Civil War(1861-1865) The Sanitary Commission, which was founded in 1861 to assure that hospitals were sanitary and to give aid and comfort to the wounded, quickly developed into something much larger. The Sanitary Commission not only collected funds and supplies, but through the Ladies Auxiliary ... moreand their fairs they collected clothing and quilts. Women donated quilts that were quite simple in design. Sometimes instead of quilting women would use period comforter ties to hold them together. Some blankets were block quilts with messages of love and faith. Quilts were given as a part of the Union soldiers' comfort packages, which included rations. The Sanitary Commission gave out between 150,000 and 250,000 blankets and quilts that were made or donated to the Sanitary Commission by northern women. This figure does not include any personal blankets or quilts the soilders carried from home. A soldier would roll his blanket up perhaps with other belongings inside and carry it with him into battle. He would use it perhaps on warm nights for a pillow or to lay his weary body upon. He would use it on winter nights as comfort against the cold. If he were wounded it would become his hospital blanket, and because of the shortage of wood, if he perished from his wounds it would become his burial shroud. WWII Era Friendship Dahlia Antique Applique Quilt w/Provenance Great-Grandma made a friendship quilt of scraps& calico. Her neighbors gave small bits of cloth from each new gown. And so Great-Grandma fashioned deftly a quilt of cheerful hues. And sewed with tiny stitches the pinks. And grays, and blues. Elizabeth Crawford Yates This fantastic quilt was made by Helen Orr of Wooster. Ohio, born in 1924. This is one of four quilts that I was fortunate enough to buy from her living estate. Three generations were raised in this home; she is now the sole remaining family member& has now moved to a nursing home. The pattern is called"Friendship Dahlia" it's full of all those wonderful colors& prints from the 1930's& 40's. Just about every color& print you can think of is right here. there are blues& ... morereds, pinks, purples, greens& yellows, browns& golds and cheddar in pretty floral prints& calicoes, some great abstract prints. all expertly appliqued to a light beige-colored backing. Norma also added a special touch& pieced a nine patch pattern in the sashing at the corner of every block. a wonderful addition! This pretty backing has a slight shimmer to it so it really enhances the rest of the colors& prints. It has a thin all cotton batting. It measures 77" x 74" is in very good condition with no rips, tears or holes, no fraying. I could find only one light surface stain near the binding. The quilt has never been laundered; it's still in it's original condition with light pencil trace lines still visible. This beautiful quilt has been well-cared for through the years. The quilting is absolutely gorgeous; and it's done in unique designs. Not what you'll typically find. Nine large dahlias were expertly appliqued with barely a stitch to be seen. She then quilted around each petal in like shape about 1/4" from the pattern& it really stands out! She quilted feathery oak leaves with flower centers in the corner of every block, a

Vintage Redwork Quilt Friendship Quilt Names & Initials Daisy Redwork
Vintage Red Work Applique Quilt This gorgeous old quilt is hand appliqued& machine pieced. 30 approx 9" muslin or feedsack blocks set 5 across& 6 down. Each block is a redwork outlined daisy consisting of 10 petals. Each petal has either redwork initials or names. Most of the daisy centers have initials although one looks like it has a hen. One says God is Love and one has the initials GV 78. I don't know if this is 1878 or 1978 or not a date at all, it might be that persons age. One block has 4 sets of initials finished in a different shade of embroidery floss-more tan/brown than red. It looks as if it is an older top that was finished at a later date as the outer border/binding is a different shade of red and a different weight of cotton. The border was attached by machine. Turned and handstitched. It has been pieced to ... moremake it fit. The quilt has been tied with off white yarn at the corners of the blocks. The batting is a piece of muslin and a piece of flannel. the back is off white muslin and one edge has a very narrow strip added to make it correct size. 69" x 69" Condition: Has some stains. Several small seam areas need to be restitched and approx a 10" section of the binding on the back. I hand washed it because it smelled quite musty but it could use another gentle cleaning. Sunny Yellow with Flowers! Friendship Dahlia Quilt. 1930's. Nice Condition!
This cheerful quilt is highlighted by yellow and blue solids and wonderful vintage prints for the flower petals! The size is 82 x 70 inches. The fabrics are all cotton. With medium to light weight batting. The sashing color is a sunny yellow with a deeper yellow as a neat border on the two sides and at the top. The background for the flower blocks is a nice blue and this same blue fabric is used for the hand stitched binding. Each flower has a green stem and for the petals the quilter used a variety of bright and colorful prints. Some were likely from feed sacks. The meticulous quilting was hand done at an average of 7-9 SPI. The black stitching around some of the flowers and stems appears to be done with sewing machine. The condition is very good. It's a clean quilt with no rips or tears. There is some light spotting on the plain muslin ... moreback and just a few small/ light spots on front.

Entered in a local quilt show and was described as Antique Lone Pine 1930 Quilt. Some pieces are dated 1931. Pieced by Aletha Wardlaw in 1930 and all the squares have the individual maker's name on them. All the squares are hand sewn and then sewn together. The back is cotton. Maybe feed sack? I am not sure. All these women were East Texas women and probably living in Mineola at the time it was made. It measures just under 77" x 64 1/2" It has condition problems which I have tried to show in the pictures. I have hand washed it in the tub and dried outside as instructed for the quilt show. We found one of the signatures. Vina Mae Schuneman was from Arkansas City, Kansas, and married in 1948. This quilt has a light pink background and a pink binding. The butterflies have hand embroidered names in them and there is a hand embroidered name. And year in the middle of the quilt. It is machine quilted. Hand bound, and hand embroidered. Here is a nice old quilt that I bought at an auction. I was told the pattern is"Friendship Garden" and that it was made 1900-1920's. It is very lightweight and has considerable wear. Especially to the pink fabric. I love the beautiful stitching on this, and can't bear to think of it as a cutter. It still looks very nice for display. There is a brownish fold line on the back that does not show through to the front, and there are loose threads and fraying on the edge/binding. Measures 73 1/2" x 66. Vintage, REALLY OLD Cotton QUILT: CAESAR'S CROWN, FRIENDSHIP RING (?) Pattern
We found two different patterns. In the"dictionary of quilts" we use to name patterns of those items we sell on ebay, that are closely related, but not completely the same, as the pattern this quilt has. Those patterns are called. In our book, Caesar's Crown" and"Friendship Ring" The"crown" on both patterns as given in the book is similar or the same as the"crown" on the quilt below, but the central design differ: in our quilt, the design on the center looks almost like the four blades of an aircraft propeller; the ones we found in our book do not look like blades in a propeller, but they are rather"squares with inward curved sides" At any rate. 1930's Polished Cotton"Friendship Ring" Dresden Plate Antique Applique Quilt. Great-Grandma made a friendship quilt of scraps& calico. Her neighbors gave small bits of cloth from each new gown. And so Great-Grandma fashioned deftly a quilt of cheerful hues. And sewed with tiny stitches the pinks. And grays, and blues. Elizabeth Crawford Yates Beautiful applique quilt made in the Depression years. In the Friendship Ring pattern, also known as the Dresden Plate or Aster patterns. It measures 87" x 70" is in very good condition. This quilt has never been laundered; you can still see the light pencil quilting trace marks. All of the fabric used to make the"friendship rings" is made from polished cotton. the prints/fabrics have a much tighter weave than regular cotton& feed sack, this weave gives the fabric ... morea very pretty& slight sheen. You'll find floral prints along with solids& calicoes in pinks& greens, blues, purples& beiges. all colors still dark& vibrant, unfaded. All of the piecing was done by hand& all of the applique was pieced to a beige backing with black floss in a blanket stitch, allowing the rings to stand out on the quilt. This quilter even took the time to separate the floss so it wouldn't look bulky. The"cone" border gives the quilt a scalloped edge; and is made with all of the same fabrics matching the rings. There are no rips. Tears or holes in the quilt but there are alot of tiny, pinpoint-sized rust stains( It's through most of the backing. These were there when the quilt was made which was common in the 1920's& 30's. Women used the fabric they had on hand for making quilts. These little dots are in the backing only, not on any of the fabric making up the rings. You'll also see an ink stamp#60. I believe that this fabric may have come from sugar or flower sacks back then. It's beautifully quilted with feathery flowers in the center of the rings; and each"petal" of the rings was qui

Total 106 blocks. All the signatures are embroidered by hand. The 10"x10" blocks are made of vintage antique fabrics. There is some yellowing and a few stains but keep in mind these are old. Vintage Friendship Signature Hand Quilted 82" by 71.5" Quilt Bed Spread
Hello. Up for auction is a vintage friendship quilt. I can tell that is hand quilted I don't know if the pieces are hand sewn or not. I know the yellow strip that goes around the outside of the quilt is machine sewn. It measures about 82 inches by 71 1/2 inches. It is Lavender and a mint green color with yellow. It has people names and county and state in the cream colored squares. Some of the names have started to come off. It does have a hole which is in the pictures, it is towards one of the corners, it also has some faded spots, and it could use a cleaning but I will leave that for the lucky winner because the last time I washed one of these it came into about a million pieces and took me forever to get it out of my washer. this would still make a great quilt for anyone who likes older quilts, and I'm sure someone could fix it ... moreone way or another. Outstanding RARE Antique 1913 Friendship Quilt Top-Embroidery,Applique,Patch
First. The colors are better in person, the day was gloomy the day I took the pictures. It is a colorful and fresh looking textile. Beautiful skillful embroidery. Huge, 92 x 80, could be even bigger with a border. This is such a rare amazing quilt top that has been hemmed so that it could be considered a spread or a hanging but I consider it better to be a top that deserves quilting. I do have the recent provenance of which estate family auction and where it was purchased. It is very sturdy because of the layers of fabric, it has been built like a crazy quilt in squares that are backed, so double thicknesses, but the raw embroidery does show on the back as in a crazy quilt top. It has no wear, but it does have a few storage spots(I show you one area) and then there is a larger spot that is yellowed on the border that is about 4 x 2. I couldn't ... moretry to wash it, but you might. It is otherwise clean and wonderful because all the names and the dates and the embroidery is very special. Some are monograms and some names. 88x72 antique Sampler Friendship quilt, embroid.names C.1920's,SC provenance TLC
You're looking at a little over 1/2 of a C. 1920's outstanding Sampler/Friendship quilt from South Carolina with embroidered signatures in most of the blocks(this was an age when women had very little voice. And I noticed in one of the blocks the lady had signed her husband's name! quilt has wonderful provenance which will be given upon purchase. All by hand, lots of feedsack fabric, filling is cotton from the fields with seeds still in it. Measures 72" x 88" would be marvelous hanging or on a bed, but not before you stabilize it with a bit of stitchery as described above under"item condition" I've pictured a few of the blocks with signatures, and there is one pic, of pink fabric, which shows the most"stitching down" that needs to be done. Pristine 1930's"Friendship Links" Antique Quilt ~ Heavily Quilted Great-Grandma made a friendship quilt of scraps& calico. Her neighbors gave small bits of cloth from each new gown. And so Great-Grandma fashioned deftly a quilt of cheerful hues, And sewed with tiny stitches the pinks. And grays, and blues. Elizabeth Crawford Yates This antique quilt is absolutely beautiful! You'll be hard pressed to find another quilt in this pattern; it's very unique ~ the pattern is called"Friendship Links" The quilt is made with 100% cotton with a medium weight all cotton batting. It measures 83" x 73" is pristine in condition. There are no rips. Tears or holes, no fraying& no stains. It was pieced entirely by hand. The borders are quilted in a 1" diamond design& dense feathered squares are quilted in the solid beige blocks. The patterned blocks are quilted with crisscrossing diagonal lines. This antique quilt piece has been salvaged from a large signature quilt. I got this quilt at an auction near Lancaster. PA. and it is from a large collection from a quilt collector. Much of the large quilt was beyond repair, but some of the signed squares are worth preserving(this is the last one) This particular square is in poor condition with surface popping/shredding. There is a section that is torn as well(see picture#4) The signature and the date are unreadable. The quilt piece is approximately 14" X 14" The quilt is hand quilted at 9 stitches per inch.

In good condition. A few torn pieces of blocks, a few small brown spots. The wide purple border was put on at a later date. Blocks are hand pieced and it is hand quilted. Fabrics from 1930's and earlier. Measures 76" by 90" I try to find any defects but I can't guarentee I'll see them all. No returns unless item is not as described. Antique 1860s Civil War Era Signature Friendship Ridgefield Connecticut and New York QUILT. Quilt is large measuring 9' 8" 116"long by 7' 6" 90"wide with 42 signed squares. Only one square is signed New York with the majority being signed along with the location of Ridgefield Ct. Other signatures that I have done my best to decipher appear to read. Nice Antique Hand Quilted Friendship Quilt, Many Signatures
From a local estate is this antique finely hand quilted friendship/ signature quilt in a variety of wonderful fabrics and containing many names. This quilt measures approximately 80" x 90" And the fabrics are in shades of gold, orange, rose, blue, red, green, black and white, browns, etc. on an off-white/cream color background. Many of these fabrics are stripes and small prints in a variety of colors and designs. The names are hand written on the quilt in the center of each of the main designs and along the border in the designs that are of half size. Many of these names appear a little smudged, but I was able to decipher the following: Nettie Hendrickson, Madkin( Pelky, Sarah Bonsall, Monroe, Ellen M. Hendrickson, Mother, Mrs. Pelky, Mrs. Lewis, Mary Derby, Hannah E Hendrickson, father, Mrs. Lamb, Henry Lewis, Mother, Brother Hewlett, ... moreCory Lamb, etc. I am not an expert in naming quilt designs, so I refer you to my photos. However, each design square is pieced into off-white/cream strips of fabric, and the entire back of the quilt is off-white/cream color. The edge design on the front comes from pieces of fabrics used in the main designs. The entire quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted, and the quilting is very intricate in design and very finely done. Condition of this quilt is overall good. There are no holes seen. Its shows fold lines from storage, and on the quilt top there is one stain(see photograph) The reverse side shows overall light brown marks that are probably from storage. Vintage Wool Wedding Friendship Antique Quilt Top w/Folky Embroidered Hands 1929! This FOLKY wool quilt top is embroidered. Using old wool suit fabrics. The top has several blocks with hands and initials, and is dated Jan. 1929 in several places. It seems to commemorate two weddings and one man's move to Ohio: Jas. S. Templeton left for Ohio Jan. 1, 1929. One block simply says, Goodnight. The piece was found in Warren County, Ohio. It measures 60" X 72" and is in good condition. With the occasional moth nibble and no wear. All of the embroidery is intact. This vintage piece of FOLK ART would make a wonderful wall hanging!

Hand Sewn Vintage Style MORNING STAR Variation Friendship QUILT TOP, 84" X 84"
Please notice the stars on this quilt top are appliques. And they were sewn by hand to the white fabric that works as background. These are"double stars" the inner one with eight points, the outer star with 16 points. We believe this pattern, or one similar to it, is called"Morning Star" but we are not sure, so please check our photos and decide by yourself. This was made. Obviously, to eventually become a"friendship" quilt, and therefore some friends wrote their names in some of the stars(only 3 stars are written or sewn, the others are"clean" We made some close-ups so you can see these details. The project was, it seems, dropped before the quilt top was finished and of course much before the quilt took shape. The fabrics are cotton blends. Size is approximately 84"x 96" This quilt has several items that have been hand appliquéd. The embroidery work is all done by hand. There are various methods of embroidery for putting the names on the quilt. The blocks were machine stitched to the sashings and borders. The quilt backing is a very pale pink. It is apparent that different people did the corners and the hand quilting because there are varying degrees of ability. I have shown you what I consider the worst corner. Victorian Crazy Friendship Quilt Dated Jan-Feb 1911 Parkersberg, W. VA,
Victorian Crazy Quilt. Estate fresh! It is so beautiful! The little piece of paper that was pinned to it says it was made in 1911 as a wedding gift. It is a traditional crazy quilt. Made in square patches, then sewn together. I believe that the patches were made by different people and then combined into this quilt. Many of the patches are signed. One is dated Jan. 5, another has the date of Feb 18. Another has the year 1911 embroidered into it. AND yet another has the name of the town it was made in"Parkersberg, W. VA. It has a ton of embroidery on it. Turkey stitches. Chain stitching, lazy daisy, and many others. All of the patches are outlined, as was the custom. Most of the fabrics used were wool. Most have held up well. 2 patches have shredded over time. And I don't think either was wool. I have shown pictures of those 2 patches. ... moreAlso I have found some very small holes in a 3rd patch, and some small holes here and there, mostly along the edges. One of the patches has slight soiling, which makes me think it was from the way it was stored. On the front of the quilt, those seem to be the problem areas. Otherwise, there are a few places where the pearl cotton used for the embroidery has deteriorated, I actually only saw one place where that happened. The backing is deep green cotton fabric and it faded in places. And there is a large hole in the center(pictured) along with a small hole on one of the edges. Much of the actual quilt stitching is gone, especially in the center part of the quilt. Also the stitching around the edges is coming out. That would be an easy repair, though, if you chose to repair it. the quilt measures 67" x70" I am offering free shipping on this quilt, priority mail through the USPS to anyplace in the continental US. Don't think this quilt was used much because the batting has not shifted at all. And there is no fading of the colors, at all. EXCELLENT CONDITION. Two worn spots were found- and are shown in the last two photos. Repairable, for sure. There are turkey reds, indigo blues, pinks and browns.all the patterns and colors you would expect from a quilt from this period. I found three hand-stitched signatures(initials) see photos, so that's probably how many women worked this quilt. Patchwork. Image#10 shows the backside which is in MINT condition. You can easily see that the individual blocks were hand-stitched, while the joining of the blocks ... moreand the outside of the quilt were machine stitched. Absolutely beautiful and vibrant. No fading on the front. Each square is hand embroidered and machine sewn. This quilt has not been professionally cleaned. It is in very good condition with some dirt/dust on the back and especially on the robin’s egg blue ruffle edges. It has been stored for many. Many years and has only been recently re-discovered. The quilt squares are made out of assorted fabrics—cottons, blends, textures, rayon and silk. Some of the silk patches have begun to deteriorate but they hard to notice because of all the colors and busyness of the design. Very old blocks that were going to be part of a friendship chain quilt. Sixteen of them are signed. Five are blank. We don't know enough to tell if the colored fabrics used in these blocks came from feed sacks. But we can tell the white fabric deed, as one of the swatches says in blue print something that can be read as"GRAIN" and there are other characters there for the next owner to decipher.
