STURDY cotton 1890's turkey red, teal, and cheddar touching stars/star of Bethlehem quilt is hand pieced, hand appliqued, and hand quilted. It measures a generous 84" X 84" and is in mint. Unwashed condition, with the occasional small, faint age spot, subtle discoloration in the green in a handful of places(see photos) and no wear. The quilt feels strong and sturdy overall. There is quilting around the perimeter of each piece and in straight line and orange peel designs in the background. All at an even 10-11 stitches to the inch. The back is white. Antique Four Square Variation Quilt Top. Blue Prints and Home Dyed Cheddar
Antique quit top made of an unusual combination of black and indigo blue cotton prints. Alternating with cheddar blocks that appear to be home dyed cotton sacks- some of the printing is still visible on several of the pieces as ire many strips of stitch holes(shown) Machine stitched and very strong- not a single hole or gap. Some of the blue pieces have been individually stitched together(see last image) A unique piece with a lot of contemporary appeal! We found this top near Deadwood, South Dakota. There is a blue border around the perimeter and an inside cheddar border. The cheddar border is a darker shade than the interior blocks(shown) This top is very clean. Antique hand pieced field of stars quilt top. This is a wonderful Americana quilt top very well preserved. It is entirely hand pieced of undyed cotton muslin. Poison green, cheddar orange, and red. Four of the stars have taupe points. Only a few areas of vague age discoloration and a few tiny holes, as shown. The seams are generally very strong, but you will find a few loose areas, especially near the points, and a few places where threads have broken. Dimensions: 74.25" x 77" Thank you for your bids! ANTIQUE DRESDEN PLATE QUILT BLOCKS, YO YO PIECES, CHEDDAR FABRIC
I have a neat assortment here and i am just not sure what all needs to be done: there are 13 dresden plates. 2 of them have the cheddar centers pinned in and there are 9 more cheddar centers cut(so 2 would be without cheddar centers) Of these 13 plates I think the maker had a little trouble making them lay flat but I don't sew so I might be wrong. I would say 6 of the circles look like they are good. Plus the two pinned ones. The other 5 look they won't be quilte flat. If you look at the last photo I see where she took one plate and folded a petal in on the backside, like a tuck or a dart( I do remember that from home ec: Now maybe these will be fine once they are pinned down to a backing. I also have these yo yo circles that are also out of fabulous vintage 1930's fabrics. Antique Vintage Primitive COLONIAL BASKET found in Illinois c.1850-1870 CIVIL WAR ERA. All HAND-PIECED and appliqued. Approx. size is 9" to 9.5" square or 13" on point as in pix#1. The fabrics used are a COPPER-TONED MADDER RED w/black. Cheddar and white stripe cotton print with an off-white background. The Handle is a different copper-toned madder RED. Lightly yellowed with age patina and in very good strong and sturdy shape with no holes. Spots or stains. The block has stitch evidence along 2 edges. See the last pix for a close-up of the back. Done on an off white background. 3/4" quilted rods in a circle design cover the quilt. Tiny 1/4" grid quilting between each block. Expertly hand quilted at 10 stitches per inch Hand bound and hand pieced. Visible cotton seeds in the thin batting. Measures 71" x 64 1/2" This quilt has age spotting(not treated) 2 tiny seam openings, and light fading in 4 pieces. On the back there is one pea size tear and age fold lines as shown in photo's. Note the wonderful block that is turned the wrong way. This has been much discussed and no one seems to know the answer to why. It has been said that this is the"humility block" so that a quilter wouldn't worry that it was blasphemous, having a perfect quilt(I do not believe this, as any quilter will readily tell you that there are plenty of mistakes in every quilt, you don't have to make one on purpose! Another explanation is that it is to ward off evil spirits(I don't believe this either) I believe that the quilter placed this block sideways on purpose, as a signature of the maker. As I am listing this quilt, I happen to be visiting with my dear Grandma who is 98 years old. I asked her what she thought. She said that her own Grandmother(born 1965) had made her a quilt with a block that was turned wrong. She just always assumed that it was a mistake and never mentioned it. Her own mother(born 1886) thought it was a mistake too. So the mystery continues.but I cannot believe how many"one obvious mistake" blocks are found on gorgeous, expertly made quilts from this era. Colors are turkey red. Green, and cheddar on a soft white ground. Made by a master quilter, this beauty is densely quilted all over in a cross hatch pattern. Quilting is done at 12 tiny stitches per inch and lines are only 1/2" apart, giving a stippled look to the quilt. There are thousands of tiny stitches in this quilt! The applique stitches are just as finely done, so fine that I can't see them without help from a magnifying glass. This beauty is definitely of museum quality. It's hand quilted at 12 tiny stitches per inch. Great graphic cheddar and white quilt in a drunkard's path variation. I believe that this quilt dates from the first quarter of the 20th century. The circles are pieced by hand and then put together by machine. The quilting is in orange thread in a square grid by machine. The backing is white and the batt feels like cotton. Cheddar & Double Pink Pieced And Appliqué Quilt Unusual Design Antique
Unusual rendition of a popular pattern made about 1885. Pieced pattern with cute orange triangles and green appliqué leaves or clovers in the white areas. Main fabric is a pink on pink print. Yummy. Quilt is clean and in good shape. I noticed one small black dot and a funny repair. Both pictured and another tiny hole near the edge. Quilt measures 69 x 82 inches and has a print backing. The batting is very. Very thin and the applied binding is the same as the backing. All stitches are by hand and are neatly done. Wonderful quilt top in cheddar. Blue and navy; 64 x 88 inches. Hand sewn blocks with machine stitched sash. I don't think it's ever been washed. There is a tan stain seen in last photo and another on the yellow sash; a dark spot on brown triangle; some fading or bleach stain on blue& white check fabric; a 1" tear in orange triangle. Antique Vintage CARPENTERS WHEEL Quilt TOP. Made in c.1945-1970 and found in North Carolina. Six quilt blocks are Hand-Pieced and six blocks are Machine-Pieced. Size: approx. 80 inches by 72 inches. There are a total of 12 quilt blocks that finish to approx. 14.5 inches square apiece. There are 6.5 inch solid color CHEDDAR sashings between blocks and 7 inch borders on two sides. There is a terrific assortment of cotton and a few cotton blend fabrics that include colors of PINK. BLUE, GREEN, BLACK, RED, etc. and prints of PAISLEY, CHECKS, PLAIDS, FLORALS, GEOMETRICS, etc. There are a few loose seams that need to be restitched throughout the quilt top and the largest is shown in pix#11. Cheddar, and green colors. There are two squares that have pieces that only have the cheddar and fugitive green colors. Age c 1880. It is hand bound in a very light green color. It is hand quilted at a masterful 9-10 stitches per inch. It has a quilted design in the squares without pieces, a quilted diamond grid, lines. So sweet. There are three quilted baby hands and a baby foot. One of the hands has something stitched in the middle of it but it can't be made out. How touching, the mother included her childrens' hands or footprints! Measurements: 67" x 77 1/4" Appears never washed. This quilt has a very light cream background and has deep red and cheddar colors with a whisper green/tan leaf and stem. There are pencil pattern marks. It is handquilted at 6-7 stitches per inch and it has quilted hearts. It is expertly hand appliqued. It is handbound. It measures 73" x 69 3/4" Very good condition. Strong and vibrant. There are a couple spots on the front and back, light age spotting and age tanning noted, there is a tiny residue spot on the binding, one tiny tear in top fabric, and a tiny pink spot as shown in the photos. Hand Pieced, and Hand Quilted, Cheddar& Cadet Blue Color in Excellent condition with no rips, tears, stains, holes, etc. The quilt has tons of hand quilting with the Hanging Diamond& Intricate Fig Leaf Pattern Quilting Design. The quilt has amazing meticulous quilting with approximately 11 stitches per inch. The quilt was obviously hand pieced and hand quilted by a master quilter. The quilt has very thin batting. There is damage, so please read full description and see all photos. This one would make a great folk art wall hanging. A background to showcase your collection! This features a teal blue. Blue, red and cheddar on a light cream background. Fun scalloped edges. This one reminds me of a circus poster! It is hand quilted at 8-10 stitches per inch. It has three little quilted hands down one side(the quilters children? one of which has a quilted heart in the middle(her favorite? it has quilted flowers, scissors, leaves, hearts, and double rod hearts that are about 1/8" wide. Wonderful. It is hand appliqued. It is hand bound. It measures 99" x 75" While this ... morequilt does have quite a bit of damage it is still very beautiful with all its detailed quilting. There is some popping/fabric wear down the sides and a tiny bit at the ends. Binding wear, some popping in the appliqued pieces, some surface wear that makes pieces look lightly faded, one leaf is completely missing, a 3" x 1 3/4" torn appliqued piece, color lifting in a 4" x 2" area of the blue, a couple spots ranging from pin dot to nickle size, about a 4" x 3 1/2" area with some black smudging, most of which is light, and two lentil size surface holes. VINTAGE ANTIQUE HANDMADE QUILT NEW YORK BEAUTY QUILT TURKEY RED&CHEDDAR ORANGE#3 The New York Beauty Quilt or called The Mountain Mist. This pattern had numerous names Sunrise/Sunrise in the Pines. President Polk in the White House, Rocky Mountain/Rocky Mountain Road/Rail Through the Mountains, and Crown of Thorns, Surveyor. New York Beauty Quilt contains four blocks that measure 17” x 17” They have a muslin background with four quarter circles(arcs) with points radiating outward from the curved seams. There are also 6 half blocks that contain one spike arc. The blocks are set together with 8” wide triple sashing that is made with two strips of spiky triangles in Red muslin with a 2 1/2” Cheddar Orange strip in middle. The 8” Red cornerstones have a circular star with 10 spiky points and sashing create a secondary design of 6 large round ... morespiked circles with cornerstone star in the middle and 2 half rounds in the center. Quilting was done with Ivory thread with stitches averaging 5 a inch. The background areas have hanging Diamonds. Four parallel lines were quilted on the orange sashing. The quilting is evenly distributed over the entire top. Securing the back to the top and enhancing the over all design of the textile. Colors are Red and Cheddar Orange. Beige on muslin. The backing is solid Red cotton(coarse weave) One center seam(sewn by hand) Batting 100% low-loft cotton. This Beauty was exquisitely done by expert hands. Masterpiece of History. Measurements: 67x77 Light Weight CONDITION: Used fair condition. Its has worn and wear areas. Fading, fraying, muslin is yellowed, aging spots, edge wear, indication of smoke smell. ANTIQUE 1940s DRESDEN PLATE APPLIQUE QUILT W/ CHEDDAR BACKING, STUNNING
This is just the most unusual and lovely dresden plate quilt. Its main colors are orange and blue which is an unusual and striking color combination fresh from the 1940's. The quilt is expertly hand sewn. Each of the dresden plates has a small orange center in the middle of a white center. All the petals are cheddar alternating with an orange print fabric. The block are sashed with blue square cotton print. 20 dresden squares The backing is the most gorgeous shade of cheddar I have ever seen on a backing. Just stunning. To top it off, all the white areas outside of the plates are hand quilted at 8spi in tiny half inch grids though a wool filler! Some of the most talented hand quilting I have seen. Each petal is double hand quilted around the outside and inside. Really an incredible piece of 1940's handwork. Pencil blue binding is ... morehand closed and in excellent condition. The quilt is in excellent condition with the exception of wool pilling which is not strikingly evident in the photos but it is there. Please enlarge the last photo for close up view. I think you could razor these off but quilt is just gorgeous and I wouldn't do a thing to it. I found one tiny pinhead dark spot on the cheddar backing. Otherwise free of stains. No wear or tear either. The quilt measures 66" x 88" it tops a full with room for a pillow tuck-or turn it crosswise with some decorative sheets turned down. It works both ways. I hate to part with this one so returns will be graciously accepted!

Outstanding handmade antique feathered pointed star with appliqued vine border. Most likely early 1900s. Great feathered star in red and cheddar with a hand appliqued trailing vine border. The lighting I used makes the white look an off color on my monitor. It is a beautiful true soft white color. Displays beautifully. Well made and very well cared for over time. Clean. Intact and in excellent condition. The fabrics used are all 100% Cotton. The overall size is 76" X 78" inches. The cotton batting is a light weight and evenly distributed throughout the quilt. The backing is constructed of a white cotton muslin. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. Denesly hand quilted with in a floral bouquet pattern in the ground patches. A diagonal diamond pattern over the stars and a quadruple rope pattern in the border. Stitch count measures ... morea tiny 18- 20 stitches per inch(counted top side only) The 1/4" inch full binding is brought forward from the top to the backing and entirely hand applied. The binding is completely intact with no signs of wear. CONDITION: This quilt is in outstanding antique condition. Everything is intact with no rips. Tears or spots found. It appears to have been cleaned by someone who knew what they were doing. I envy the work. Colors are even throughout and bright with slight fading of the cheddar along the border. Fabrics are soft and bright and look clean to the eye. Some hard to see small light spots on the back of the quilt. It has been very well cared for over time and is free from the major spotting you usually find in older quilts. This quilt has no odor and it does not appear to have been exposed to smoke. This antique 1800's turkey red quilt has a splendid cheddar backing. The quilt is hand pieced. Has a very thin, smooth backing and has approximately 6 stitches per inch on the top quilting. It is in very good condition with a small chew to the edge(see the last picture) some fading towards one side(see pictures# 10, 11) and a few stains on the back. The fabrics in the quilt have a somewhat crispness to them and it is possible that the quilt has never been washed. It is approximately 69" x 80" Check out my other items!

Antique Handmade Quilt Pennsylvania Dutch 1800's OUTSTANDING Red, Green, Cheddar
Here is an outstanding hand crafted Pennsylvania Dutch intricately stitched collectors quilt. This is in absolutely fabulous condition with no frayed edges and no holes or problems. There is minor age discoloration on back side but we will leave cleaning to the discretion of the new owner. The detail and stitching is amazing. Note the floral designing in the stitching within the white areas. This quilt is 4 square panels with intricate floral design and a gorgeous hounds tooth border. The colors are amazing with a rich turkey red accented by a vibrant cheddar orange. The green stems and leaves complete the beautiful masterpiece on an off white back ground. The overall measurements are 84" x 84" square. This piece came from my great aunts estate just north of Lancaster PA. She was 97 when she passed away and lived in the same house ... moresince birth. This quilt was lovingly displayed on a guest bedroom bed and was given to her by her mother. There is minor fading a few of the leaves from the sun that peeked through the window in the afternoon. The design is machine pieced and hand quilted, with the quilting being quite nice with 16 short stitches per inch where we measured. The pattern formed by the blocks resembles the sort of grand design you might find done in marble or wood in the foyer of a gracious home.This is backed with a plaid woven fabric, and the batting is very light, or possibly made without any batting at all; we can't quite decide. The quilt measures approx. 81" by 82" The fabric is quite sound, though it is faded overall and stained in some places. The dark calico fabric, when you look at the turned under edging, has definitely lost some green tones, appearing to be black or dark brown and tan. Folky with a wonderful heart applique border detail! This quilt has a very light cream background. There are some very light pencil pattern marks. Still lightly visible. It is masterfully hand quilted at 8 stitches per inch and has quilted diamond grid work. It is exquisitely hand appliqued. It is hand bound. It measures 79" x 79" This quilt is in good condition. There are a few light blue color lift spots on some of the green pieces. Light age spotting throughout, most of which is too light to photograph and most of it is just on the background, there is some very light, minor binding wear, a couple of tiny holes ranging from pin dot to rice size, two ... morefaint lines about 1" long, one early patch in one corner. There is some age tanning and spotting on the back, mostly around the edges. See photos. There is also light age tanning throughout the background on the front and a couple small water marks, the largest is about palm size, all of which was too light to photograph. Gorgeous. This quilt has the welcome symbol of the colonial days. Pineapples, paired with wonderful, applique little hearts. It is hand quilted at 6-8 stitches per inch. It has quilted hearts, quilted double rods that are about 1/8 wide, and quilted grid work with squares that roughly measure 5/8" x 5/8" It is hand appliqued. It is hand bound. It measures 75" x 60" Freshly hand laundered. This quilt is in very good condition with strong fabrics and color. There are two small seam openings. Several spots throughout, most are very light and they range from rice size to about dime size, there are also a couple spots on the back, and there are a couple tiny nicks in the binding. Auction Wizard 2000 Listing Template- AW2KLOT#45915 Antique Appliqued Quilt w/ Red& Cheddar Yellow Flowers This listing is for a wonderful antique appliqued quilt featuring red and cheddar yellow flowers. The wreaths. Leaves, and bells holding some flowers are dark sage green. None of the green has morphed into tan. The quilt measures approximately 91" X 91" There are 6 wreaths in the quilt. The S-shaped vine forming the border is on all four sides. The quilt has probably never been laundered. I have seen no fabric deterioration. There are some small age spots on the front and the back- more on the back than the front. The center wreath on the bottom row has a moisture stain that goes through to the back. The wreath in the center on the top row has a similar, but smaller stain. Near the edge to the right of the center wreath ... moreon the top row has a smaller moisture stain that does not go through to the backing. Probably, when the quilt was folded, something was spilled and the moisture went through the layers of folded quilt. It is not mildrewed, so it was probably spread out to dry. The colors did not run. Just above the binding, at the foot in the photo, is a tiny hole in the top- about 1/8" in diameter. The applique work was done by hand. The quilting was also done by hand. Stitches average 14-16 stitches per inch, counting both the top and bottom stitch. The backing is the same antique white as the front. The binding was formed by folding the backing to the front and stitching down. It was top stitched by machine. This stunning quilt would make an excellent addition to your collection. Miss the old version of this page? everything on one long page. otmce. Ere is an absolutely splendid. Striking little pieced, unwashed quilt top in a rare medallion setting. Although many of the fabrics look much earlier, including that delightful focal-point grandly patterned Cheddar, the top probably dates to around the 1890's when a reliable, durable black first became available for fabric printing. Originally collected in Quebec. Size This quilt top measures about 68 x 72 inches inches. The center focal piece of cheddar yardage is about 14 inches square. The pieced zigzags are less than 1 inch wide. Construction The top is entirely hand-pieced. Very neatly, save for that last lone border along a single side, which was added by machine. Condition The quilt top is in excellent. Notably crisp, starchy condition, clearly never washed ... moreand very nearly flawless. I can find maybe four small, well hidden spots in that oversized pink printed gingham pattern, a single spot in one blue band and that slight mottling on the single piece of outer border where the purple is beginning its inevitable shift towards tan. Antique handmade Quilt bedspread blanket 1920 cheddar, orange
72" x 90" antique handmade quilt in cheddar with fall colors. This was made by my great grandmother in 1920 and has always been in smoke free pet free environment.
