Antique Estate 1950s Quilt "Drunkards Path" - Blue and White 65 x 76 inches
Up for sale is a vintage Drunkard's Path Quilt. It is in fair to good condition. The edges do show significant wear as seen in the photos. This might easily be fixed with adding a border around the quilt to make it bigger. The dimensions are 65 x 76 and it is hand stitched all around/inside the blocks. The quiltmanship is very good. This is just an old quilt that I estimate to be 1950s. It may be older. It came from a very old estate. There is some fading on the quilt it appears because the blocks on one side are a tad bit darker than the rest of the quilt. Very low Reserve. This is an antique blue and white quilt with embroidery on the white square and the blue squares are also quilted. It is 63" by 64" and mostly handstitched. Condition is used with wear and tears as pictured. It hasn't been cleaned and is probably a little darker than in the photos because of the lighting when photographed. The family states that the maker loved quilting and even entered a quilt in the Chicago Worlds Fair. 1933. This lovely quilt features a crisp. French blue and white. Probably an original design. With blue pinwheels and fleur de lis medallions. The border continues the fleur de lis design. It measures 81" x 73 1/2" It is densely hand quilted at 7-8 stitches per inch. Hand bound. In very good condition. We found a couple of teeny repairs, and light age spotting(photo'd) Freshly hand laundered. But not spot treated. A beautiful quilt that will be a joy to own! 3 lb 3 oz. Lushly quilted Indigo Blue & White FEATHERED STAR CUTTER antique quilt 8-9spi
Miss the old version of this page? everything on one long page. vfsce. Hat a beautifully made quilt this Feathered Star was. Alas. Its red print must have had a black or brown element that neatly disintegrated away over time, leaving heavily weakened fabric and exposing the batting so that it pilled and clumped where unprotected. Some 18 beautifully quilted open white blocks remain and there's still a strangely strong graphic appeal to the intact quilt as-is. so maybe you have the perfect next stage for its checkered life? I would imagine this dates to the last quarter of the 1800's. Size The quilt measures about 72 x 74 inches. The blocks are about 12 inches square and the tiny half-square triangles are only 3/4-inch square. Quilting The hand-quilting is lovely. With 8-9 little stitches to the inch. Counting on the top side of the ... morequilt only. Construction The blocks are tightly hand-pieced and I think the long seams are by hand as well. Backing. Binding& Batting The white backing is clean and bright but has about 8 blocks where damage on the front shows through as clusters of small through-holes on the reverse. The sweet little hand-applied indigo binding along two sides gives way to a machine-applied black gingham along the other two. But both bindings are heavily worn and frayed along the edges. Please note that some of the binding appears missing in the overall picture. But that's just my sloppy editing. It's there all the way around. The batting is super thin and even. Though I do find some flat spots and of course there are losses in the centers of the blocks where fabric has worn away. Condition The quilt's condition is strong and clean. But clearly very compromised thanks to that red wearing away and the resulting damage to batting. Although there's heavy wear and through-holes in the star blocks, I find very little damage to the beautifully quilted open white blocks. I only detect minor surface wear, snagging etc. on four of them. I note some minor staining which is pictured.

VINTAGE/ANTIQUE RED WHITE & BLUE PATCHWORK QUILT- 62"x80" - HANDMADE in MISSOURI
This is an auction for a VINTAGE/ANTIQUE RED WHITE& BLUE PATCHWORK QUILT- 62"x80" HANDMADE in MISSOURI. The majority of the 3 1/2" finished blocks are made of vintage cotton fabrics mainly red. White, blue in color- but there are a few blocks of greens, yellows. browns also in the quilt. The backing& edging are done in white cotton and the filling appears to be a white flannel(lightweight) The quilt is EXTREMELY OLD. Although I do not know the exact date of when it was made. It was my grandmother-in-law's quilt and she was born in 1901. My husband remembers her having this quilt& just knows that it something that she made. And obviously lovingly used. She lived her entire life in the"Lead Belt" area of the state of Missouri, south of St. Louis. This quilt is completely hand quilted. But finished in ... morea machine stitched binding. The quilt is NOT IN PERFECT CONDITION. There are some stains. Some tears& rips, some missing binding on the edges. The back side is not in as good of condition as the front side. As some of the back fabric is well- worn and has deteriorated. I'm guessing that is why there appears to be an 8 1/2" binding( on one end of the quilt- maybe to reinforce the back side where the fabric was damaged. But why she would also put it across the front side I don't understand. Maybe it was meant to designate the head of the bed where the pillows were to lie on top. I'm not sure- the quilt blocks underneath that strip do not appear to be damaged. A mystery that will never be solved, as Grandma died years ago, before I had the quilt and could ask questions from her. There are no musty smells and it has always been in pet-free. Smoke-free homes. Check the pictures carefully to see where I have tried to picture some of the damages. I have not made any attempt to repair or clean it. You are bidding on a vintage log cabin pieced quilt that has been hand quilted. Quilt has all colors of blue with solids a couple of plaids and calicos. Centers are all navy blue. The backing is a light blue stripe. This is shown on a Queen bed. Measures approx 92 x 89 Edge all around is a nice strip design that sets off the log cabin blocks. This quilt was found at an estate sale. It is in very good condition. The only problems we could find are a stain near a corner edge. It is the size of my hand and I took two pictures of it. Also there is a quarter size stain near the center of the quilt. Last there are about a half dozen thread pulls in the cross stitch pattern. I love this one that's framed with a triple border of patriotic red, white, and blue. Quilt is made with cotton fabrics, star is made up of diamonds that are about 1 1/2" across. Backing is a white cotton. The star appears to be all hand pieced. While the border may be machine stitched. The edges of the quilt are turned in and machine stitched together. The hand quilting is done at 6-7 stitches per inch. Size is 78" x 78"+/ This beauty is in overall excellent condition. Red White and Blue Butterfly cotton cross stitch quilt
From an estate here in Nevada. We have for sale this 82 inch x 102 inch cotton quilt. It is totally hand stitched and the pattern is a red and blue cross stitched butterfly on a white background, each of the 12 butterflies is double banded in a nice blue color. I don't know the age of this quilt, only that the little lady is now in a rest home and she either collected it during her life or inherited it from her mother. This feels crisp and the white is very white on the top, with only some slight yellowing on the underside. It may be just from storage, and could just wash out. Very well made in in fantastic condition. soft subtle blue and white, there is some fading here and there but no significant damage at all, I found a few missed stitches and an ink stain on the underside that shows v ery little on the top side. Quilt has thin batting with mild separation but it is not lumpy, quilt is clean from a pet and smoke free estate, I have not laundered it and there are 2 light spots that should soak out with a little oxy. The quilting is done by hand and the beautiful cross stitching is also hand done. The quilt does show some signs of age and needs alittle LTC to be restored back to it's orginal state. Great small project while waiting for the warm weather. There is one block that needs the cross stitched repaired, the other 11 blocks 16" square are in great shape. Vintage quilt top - blue and white star pattern - spool border - quilting marks
What a neat old quilt top this is. Done in plain blue and plain white cotton in a star pattern with a great spool border that is 4" wide. It measures 67" wide and 82" long- it is displayed on a queen sized bed to give you an idea of its size. There are about 3 places where it has come apart on the seam(see the last 3 pictures) a little and this is a very quick and easy fix with needle and thread. It is all machine pieced and in the white squares the maker had laid her quilting pattern in dots- looks like it is done with blue tailoring chalk and should easily soak out if you choose. This came out of my neighbor's estate having been passed to her from an old aunt- it is from around the 30s- 40s I think. There are no stains or spots or holes and the border is nice and straight. The blue stars measure about 8 1/2" and ... morethe squares are 10 1/2" across. Ready to be quilted or repurposed into pillows or something else. It is clean- been stored- I detect no odors. A fantastic primitive pillow made from a beautiful antique quilt square. The old fabrics are beautiful. The horseshoe print on the red fabric is really fun. The hand stitches on this quilt are amazing. I think you can see that in the photos. However. Too many worn spots mean the quilt can't be used-the fabric on the plain squares setting these blocks was completely shattered. So I've made pillows to be used as decorations-on your bed or chair, or in a basket. The pillow is about 7" by 7" The corners are slightly boxed, to give the pillow a nice shape. The pillows are stuffed with new bamboo fiberfill. The pillow has a complementary antique/vintage button sewn in the middle. 19th C Handstitched Blue and White Patchwork Quilt The Gatherings is happy to offer this outstanding blue and white calico quilt from the late Victorian period. It is completely hand stitched and hand quilted. A grid of diamonds in a dot fabric are placed point to point forming each block measuring 13" square. There are 16 blocks in the quilt. Each surrounded with a chain design forming the inside borders as well as the outside. The same dot fabric is used for the binding, stitched, rolled over the edge, and hand stitched. Several motifs of quilting is incorporated to make this even a more stunning quilt. The quilting on the very edge of the border is done in a diagonal pattern while feather stitching is featured between the chain areas. Inside the diamond blocks, the quilting is three rows of straight stitching between a wider row which ... morereminds me of a zigzag stitch. The blue dot fabric is also quilted in straight as well as diagonal stitch. A very interesting quilt with fine workmanship. Quilt stitches measure 8" to the inch. VINTAGE FEEDSACK FABRIC 29½ x 27½ Yellow Red Blue White QUILT Repair
Here is a piece of fabric. Looks to me to be feedsack that was opened out and made into a small table cloth by adding red hem binding. Table cloth was used, there are 2 stains about 1” wide, some small dark spots, one tiny hole and a couple of pin size holes, and there is fading. Even with these issues, it is still strong fabric, and a lot of fabric for vintage style projects, for a new quilt or perfect for restoring/repairing an old one. Hope you can use it. One antique vintage cutter quilt pillow 5 by 5 square So Sweet!!! Blue White
One very pretty pillow made from a beautiful antique quilt. The hand stitches on this quilt are very nice. I think you can see that in the photos. However. Too many worn spots mean the quilt can't be used. So I've made this sweet pillow to be used as a decoration-on your bed or chair, or in a basket. Maybe in a baby's room? The pillow is about 5" by 5" I take the extra time to box the corners, to give the pillow a nice finished shape. The pillow is stuffed with new fiberfill, has a nice vintage button sewn in the middle, and is backed with white reclaimed cotton chenille. This listing is for the pillow shown in the first photo. Exceptional 1860's-80's Indigo Blue& White Drunkard's Path Quilt with Red Trim! Description Oh my. My, MY! This by far is the most outstanding quilt I have ever had in my possession! The Indigo fabric looks like it has never seen the sun! It is bold and crisp and has no fading, thinning or damage at all! In fact, this whole quilt looks as if it has been packed away the last century, just breathtaking. it is 72"x 85" has 9 stitches per inch with an all-over diamond quilted pattern, has thin batting that is not lumpy or bumpy anywhere, the red trim gives just a hint of contrast. I have gone over the entire quilt and can find no damage and no significant stains. There is some minor light surface soil here and there, mostly on the backside, that should wash out no problem. A nice vintage small pitcher that is light blue over white cased satin glass. It is a diamond quilted design and is unmarked but probably made by Mt Washington Glass. It measures just about 3 3/4 inches tall. It is about 3 1/2 inches from the tip of the spout to the back of the handle. The base is slightly under 2 inches wide. Hello! And welcome to my auction! Today we have a beautiful and rare antique coverlet for sale! It measures roughly 83 in. Wide and 71 in. Long. I have this picture on my queen size bed and I am surprised how it almost fits! The coverlet has"j. Klein Hamilton Co. Indiana" woven on each reversible side. Each side features either blue on white/cream. Or white/ cream on blue. The coverlet does have a few stains as depicted in the pictures. It also has has one or two very small holes and is missing some fringe in some areas. It also has wear to the top binding. As shown, the coverlet has been woven in 2 panels and then sewn together. I have shown where the panels do not quite match up at the top. From my reading on antique coverlets, this oftentimes was done intentionally for good luck! I'll be listing more over the next few weeks as I unpack! This quilt has a pieced patchwork top of two small-scale prints. cotton batting. And a solid color backing. I believe all are cotton. Combination hand and machine stitching. Lots of stable fabric for crafting and repurposing. But many worn areas(the lighter colored fabric is weak; the blue is fine) where the cotton filler shows through. Just a few stains. The STAR has a SAWTOOTH BORDER on two sides. The blue fabric is shattered from the dye used in the print and the cotton batting is visible. All the white parts are in good shape. Including the back, except for a small hole near an edge and a worn piece all shown in pix#6 and#7. This piece is densely HAND-QUILTED. Good clean condition with no major spots or stains.
