Flying Geese Quilt! Circa 1930's. Bright Blues and Reds. Feed Sack Prints!
Based on the fabrics I am estimating that this colorful quilt was made in the 1930's. I don't think it would be any later than the 1940's The size is 71 x 61 inches There are 216. Three-inch squares, each containing two triangles in a striking mixture of solid and print fabrics, many from old feed sacks The border and backing are the same vivid blue cotton fabric. The batting weight is thin to medium. The condition is excellent. There are no holes or tears and no staining. This quilts has been recently washed. Inevitably with an older quilt. Some of the fabrics are slightly faded and there are a few small, light spots but none that I could see much larger than a dime. Overall this quilt remains strong enough to use- and beautiful enough just to display and admire!

Some dark spots on the green background- but not many. Back is in mint condition- no stains. Holes, rips, tears at all- was probably added at a later date. Very pretty Flying Geese quilt. Very early. Unfortunately the quilt was folded and the center part was exposed to the sun for too long and it shreded when laundered. The outter edges are in very good condition for over fifteen inches and could be used to cut heart or goose shapes or any other shape for pillows or other crafts. I just couldn't throw it away. 12 Antique Hand Pieced Flying Geese? Quilt Blocks Brown Calicos Cotton c.1899
Antique quilt blocks- Flying geese? There are 12 blocks. They are in a cross pattern. The fabric in most of the blocks is probably 19th century. They measure 22 inches from point to point diagonally. I bought these from an estate in Illinois a few years ago. They are all hand stitched. I have included a photo of the close up of stitching on the backs. They are not perfect. They have storage soiling. And there are some shredded or missing pieces. However, from the same estate, I found a few pieces of fabric that one could use to repair the blocks if so inclined. The flying geese squares are cotton calico fabrics in an array of patterns and colors. The batting or fill is cotton. The backing is white or faded pale blue. The overall condition is good; however there are a few age related issues to report, such as a couple of small spots seen and five small areas of wear or holes. Almost the entire quilt is in good strong condition. And this quilt displays very well on a bed or wall or in any capacity. Mid 1800s Antique Graphic Flying Geese QUILT Triple Rod Quilting. Click picture to enlarge This is a very early flying geese quilt. It has an off white background with pink. Black, and white polka dot triangle pieces. 1/16" triple rod quilting over each block. 3/8" grid quilting though out the entire quilt. Expertly hand quilted at 9-10 stitches per inch. Hand bound in a tiny 1/8" white binding. Hand pieced together. It measures 83 1/2" x 82" Very thin batting. This quilt has a few light gray smudges. Tan fold lines, a couple small age spots, one tiny seam separation, a few loose threads and the occasional pop in the pink pieces as shown in photos. Not too bad for such an early quilt. We did not launder. There are no odors. Nice early one for the collector! 4.6 lbs. Tt. Red , White And Blue Flying Geese Quilt Farm Estate Folk Art
In honor of the 4th of July I am listing a piece of American Folk Art It comes from a very small town and was in the attic. I think by the fabric it is 1920s or earlier. I see hand and treadle machine stitching and boy was this lady talented! Red and blue on the white makes this quilt just pop almost off the bed. It is a nice larger size at 90" by 80" I see no holes but it does need laundered which I will let the new owner do. There is some yellowing on the side where it touched the floor but it looks to me that this will easily wash out. Summer weight with little batting. American Folk Art at its best right here. HUGE Very Graphic Antique Flying Geese Variation Quilt Top Handmade Hand Sewn
For your consideration is a very stunning cotton hand sewn/ pieced quilt top from Mobile. Alabama. This was stored in a trunk for almost its entire life, so the colors are very deep and lively. I am guessing it dates somewhere between the late 1800's and the 1930's, but that is simply a guess. There is a lot of staining from storage, especially on the natural unbleached white. It is too pervasive for me to focus in on any one stained are with the camera; it is an allover type of issue. I took quite a few photos to give you an idea. The fabric itself is quite sturdy and appears to never have been washed after piecing. It measures a whopping 160" x 184" approximately, and appears to never have been washed since piecing. It would look fantastic stretched and hung on a wall as primitive art. Outstanding. Late 1800's Kentucky Beauty! Flying Geese Quilt. With Provenance
This lovely old quilt is from an estate sale in Bourbon County Kentucky. It was quilted by either Amanda or Eliza Collier who resided in Bourbon County during the second half of the 19th century, Hand quilted at seven stitches-per-inch The fabrics are all cotton with a simple lavender small ditsy print and solid white/ cream. The size is 84 by 74 inches. There are two borders. One in the lavender print fabric with the second in the cream color. The binding is in the lavender fabric. The batting is medium weight. The condition overall is excellent. The fabrics are crisp. It doesn't look like it was used very much. There is just a little light wear to the binding. This one was probably used occasionally for company and then stored away. It has been washed at least once. There are no tears or stains. But there is some light age or storage ... morediscoloration. This is mainly in one area in the top corner and isn't very noticable unless you are looking closely.

Bold & beautiful red & white ca 1920 quilt, Flying Geese variant, needs TLC
Can't pull any punches here. this bold red& white ca 1920s quilt. That I think is in a Flying Geese pattern variation, needs some TLC. First some dimensions: She's 72" x 59" and quilted at 7 SPI. Ok, with that out of the way here's the issue: At both ends of the quilt, white patches have been machine sewn over some of the areas containing the little red triangles. I can't clearly see what's beneath that added fabric, but it seems evident that there was wear that led to the deterioration to those triangles(see pictures 2, 3, 4, 5& 6) I can dimly make out that some of the triangles or parts of them are indeed missing. In addition, the red border all around has been replaced(see my last picture for the one area where you can see the new border overlapping part of the old) So here's what I think about ... morethis quilt: The sewn over white cloth should be removed to see precisely what the issue is beneath them and to determine if a better restoration is possible(seems to me the"restoration" that's there was simply to make the quilt functional) If a restoration is not feasible, I'd cut the quilt. take one row off each end. That would leave you with a 59" x 49" quilt. basically a crib quilt. Whatever is done, its clearly a quilt worth restoring. In any event, its being offered without reserve though buyer pays $16 for priority USPS domestic shipping.

Antique hand pieced Flying Geese pattern quilt top with binding. It measures 99 1/2" long. 92 1/2" across. It has a 15 1/2" drop on each side. 14 1/2" drop on the footboard. I photographed it on a queen size bed over two pillows at the top. It has 11 rows of flying geese pieces. The fabrics are a great variety of antique fabrics. The panels inbetween are an off white with a small brown print. The original binding is a blue seaweed like pattern. Except for the binding, the rest of the quilt is hand pieced. There are a few stitches missing here and there. No holes or tears. There are some brown marks in several places. See pictures. I don't know if they will come out with washing. Great for a table cloth or wall hanging, or as a summer top for a bed. Thanks for viewing.

1920's-30's ANTIQUE FLYING GEESE QUILT - 61 by 70"
This antique flying goose quilt was pieced by hand and machine. All the quilting was done by hand. It is in very good condition and does not have worn areas. The last closeup some tea colored streaks that are in just that corner of the quilt. They may soak out. The batting is soft lump free cotton that is fairly light weight. The backing has color run so it must have been that way before it was used on the quilt because there is no color bleed on the top of the quilt. This is a depression era quilt and at that time people used what ever they had to make useful items. It is clean. Odor free and 61 by 70 inches.

With green calico accents. A sleeve has been sewn on the back, making this one suitable for use as a wall hanging. It measures a generous 86" X 86" and is in fair condition. With fabric deterioration in many of the browns/triangle fabrics and the binding. We will be listing them one by one as we can. From dolls to quilts this estate was thebest of the best and this quilt is a great representation of the finest items we were able to buy. This quilt is in the flying geese pattern using many different feedsacks and the backing being two large 100lb feedsacks. I love these prints! Finding a quilt in this condition is rare these days most are already in collections and many quilt sellers have resorted to buying the fabrics and having them made. This one is authentic old most likely pre 1930's but wasn't entirely ... moresure so I will say 30's. CLEAN! cotton batting was used in this quilt. Stitches are even all handmade as you can see. You are bidding on a large antique quilt block that measures approx. 16 1/2 inches across. I think it is a combination of the flying geese pattern and the spider web pattern but only guessing here. It is round in shape which makes it unusual and would make a great pillow cover. I see two spot of fading on two of the blue fabrics right near the center square and there is an unsewn seam on one of the gold fabrics. This quilt block is all hand pieced. This Auction is for An Early 1900's Handmade Quilt Measures approx. 77 inches X 87 inches. Pattern I believe to be a Flying Geese Variation. Small triangular patches forming the blocks meticulously sewn together with tiny hand stitches. The quilt is then hand top stitched at 10 SPI. Quilt is in nice condition with no rips. Tears or holes. Two of the blocks shown in pictures#8, 9& 10 has minor losses. Quilt has some light yellowing at folds with one very small spot(shown in pictures#9& 10) Light layer of cotton batt filling in between topper and backing. This is a wonderful quilt top beautifully hand done in the Flying Geese pattern and in the favorite indigo colors. I am pretty sure this is from the late 1800's. see photos) One end is wider than the other. As many of these old tops were, and the stitches are tiny and even. The difference in width could be easily fixed& finished, or this top looks great folded up in a stack of quits. It measures 43" x 56" and one end does not have a border. I am not sure if it was not finished, or if it was meant to be that way. It came from a wonderful estate where every thing was old/Victorian, and I found this in the bottom of a huge barrel of linens with 3-4 other quilt tops. Primitive Quilt Christmas Stocking Flying Geese Chenille Holiday Vintage Unique
This stocking was handcrafted by me from beautiful hand stitched quilt blocks. The front side is made from quilt blocks from a 1930's or 1940's from a flying geese quilt and the back side of the stocking is made from a vintage chenille bedspread which has a light yellow background with white puffs made of all cotton. The cuff on the top is made from a white chenille bedspread. You can use either side of this stocking. The stocking is fully lined and has a chenille loop for hanging. The stocking measures approximately 18" from top to bottom. 11" from heal to toe, and 8.5" across the cuff. The fabrics in this stocking have been laundered by me and are clean and fresh. I live in a smoke free home. All of the materials used in this stocking are vintage. So there may be a few slight blemishes. I am listing other similar ... morestockings. 2 GENERATION DIAMOND IN SQUARE FLYING GEESE QUILT
This quilt was created using 1920's Diamond in Square with Flying Geese quilt blocks. Probably found stored away in a relative's blanket chest. Each block was hand pieced to an unbleach muslin, which was used for the background and back. The quilt measures 65" x 57" has a thin cotton batting, and the binding was made by bringing the back to the front and hand stitching in place. The maker used various cotton prints for the 3-1/2" wide frame giving the quilt a unique look. Hand quilted with angle quilting across the entire quilt@ 5 stitches per inch. Excellently quilted NINE PATCH was a bravura performance by this expert maker who turned the pattern"on point" added a secondary pattern, the FLYING GEESE, and chose a background of tiny red and yellow tulips that needed perfect allignment to achieve this result. PINWHEELS AND FLYING GEESE ANTIQUE QUILT REVERSIBLE c 1880s This quilt from the 1880's is HAND PIECED and features Indigo blue Pinwheels on one side and Flying Geese on the other. The Pinwheel side has a white floral print on deep Indigo and white cotton for the background. And the Flying Geese side has many scrapbag cottons from the period and earlier fabrics including several cinnamon pink prints, overdyed green solids, and cheddar solids for the pieces and white cotton for the background. Time has not been kind to the Geese side as many of the fabrics have deteriorated from the use of prints with acidic dyes. The quilt measures 80" x 78" has a thin cotton batting with a few seed fragments and a binding made by bringing the Geese background fabric to the other side and sewn with a treadle sewing machine, with a few nips.
