Sewn from wool, ... morelinen and cotton fabrics--the quilt squares make up a cross design. The wool squares are navy blue, some grey squares are cotton and some are linen. Some squares have seams, the artisan using up every scrap of fabric on hand. The backing is a charming old cotton print of raspberries or blackberries, in muted shades of olive green. Tied off with golden yellow wool yarn. There is one interesting old mended area which seems to have been done with a well-practiced hand. ANTIQUE VINTAGE BABY CHILDS STAR QUILT, ANTIQUE DOLL QUILT
This is an antique baby quilt with a sort of 8 point star design. It is 29" by 38" and is string tied. Because it is string tied rather than quilted to the back it is lumpy and a little out of shape. Other than that it is in pretty good condition with one small 1" open seam. It has not been cleaned and has general soiling and a light stain. Antique Quilt LOG CABIN Barn Raising Childs HAP c1880 Feather Stitch Embroidery
Lancaster Pennsylvania- c.1880's Childs Quilt An Early Log Cabin Barn Raising Hap Quilt Embroidered with Feather Stitching Overall Completly Handmade DESCRIPTION An outstanding example of a Late 19th or Early 20th Century Lancaster County Pennsylvania antique quilt. Completly handstitched there is no machine work anywhere on this beauty. The pattern is Log Cabin Barn Raising. A beautifully pieced pattern in white and pink with small center squares of burgundy velvet. All the fabrics are cotton. It is a HAP quilt, thickly batted and tied down at regular intervals with a rose colored floss to hold that heavy batting in place. It is a small quilt made for a child to keep warm at night. This charming antique quilt has the added opulent touch of pink hand embroidery'Turkey Track or Feather' stitching covering each and every'log' ... moreand also around the wide triangular shaped border decoration. An amazing quilt when you think about the amount of handwork. each piece was folded and stitched by hand and then each seam carefully covered with this delighful hand embroidery. Every line of embroidery skillfully and neatly worked. This is a real beauty. The reverse is also quite interesting. Done in the traditional pattern of BARS. The back of the quilt alternates between a plain white and an apricot background color with a printed pattern of dark flower pots and faint white vines or trees growing upward. This printed fabric on the reverse is quite faded and the'trees or vines' are difficult to see. Also, the mordant used to set the dye to print the tiny black flower pot designs had a great deal of iron in it causing the'pots' to wear away(deteriorate) here and there, a common occurence in early fabrics. No other loss of fabric anywhere on the quilt this only affects some of the black flower pots. The quilt is bound with the same apricot printed fabric and again. All turned and stitched by hand. Antique chidrens quilt circa 1870. This is not an unused. Mint condition quilt. It shows its years of use and who knows what this quilt has seen! Stitching within 1" is approximately 8 stitches. A 9 patch pattern in Pink& Brown. The back is unevenly colored from aging and use. The front has a stain in the center& small hole in one corner.

Antique RED & WHITE Calico Snowball Hand Stitched Childs Crib Quilt 39" X 64" VG
This Auction is for Another Beautiful White& Red Calico Quilt. Childs Crib Quilt measuring approx. 39 inches X 64 inches. Pattern ~ Snowball. Meticulous hand top stitching at 10 stitches per inch. Interior has a thin layer of cotton quilt batting. Backing is done with a pumpkin colored cotton muslin. No noted rips or tears.light soiling. Fabric is still very strong with no shattering. The red calico is still bright and vibrant. White cotton has light yellow consistent with age. I have not laundered this quilt for the auction. Will wash up beautifully. ~ ~ ~ Beautiful OLD CHILD's Quilt 151 years old ~ ~ ~ This has been around a long time ~ there is an old paper pinned to it that has the owners name. With a date of 1863. I purchased 2 from the same dealer at a San Diego sale a few weeks ago. they both have paper tags attached. The other one was listed separately and has already sold. This is indeed the oldest quilt I've ever had- homespun fabrics. mostly old dresses& shirting. Banding along the edges is also dress/shirting fabric. is worn but in relatively good condition. This OLD quilt is not in the best condition- in fact. There are many worn(or actual torn) areas. Out of 63 blocks it appears there are 34 with worn fabric and the old cotton batting showing thru! That leaves 29 blocks in fairly good condition! The blocks are small, measuring about 4.5" square. Each has ... morea whitish background. The overall background is a small print red/pink& white. The 4" border around the edges is an even smaller red/pink& white pattern. Photos with& without flash- last photo is in direct sunlight. This quilt was hand-made. And put into storage in 1863. It had to be patched numerous times for continued use. I honestly think it was for a child due to the scale, size& small blocks and. it had to last thru the whole lot of kids! It's worn. But perhaps good enough to consider a restoration! Would also just be pretty on a shelf with other ancient ones. Has an old scent like a trunk- not smoke Soil is on the backside- and some on the front Stitching is very tiny& primitive maybe 5-6 Stitches Per Inch HAND PIECED& HAND QUILTED The batting inside is a very lightweight thin cotton layer measures 64" x 50" I have not cleaned this ~ will leave that to the new owner Truly an historical piece of EARLY Americana NO RESERVE please email if questions THANKS FOR LOOKING and GOOD LUCK BIDDING

ANTIQUE CHILDS DOLL QUILT HAND DONE PRIMITIVE LOG CABIN DESIGN 1920'S
Country primitive antique 1920's or so childs doll quilt done in a log cabin type design. All hand pieced with various strips of printed little cotton fabric designs. Edged all around the outside in a floral print fabric. Back shows some discoloration. Front shows wear in several spots where the fabric is actually missing. The center has a hole and is somewhat faded. Condition is noted on this piece. However. Its is so carming and loved that you know a child cherished this little quilt for her doll and doll bed. Measures 14" x 15 1/2"Sold as found.

Antique Childs VICTORIAN CRAZY QUILT - LAVISH EMBROIDERY - SIGNED & DATED 1874
This exceptional child's Victorian Crazy Quilt has some of the most intricate embroidery I've seen. Please look at all the pictures. One piece is signed and dated" V.E. Johnson Born 1874" I believe this made for a birth. It is 54" X 62" NOT including the 3 1/2" ruffle. The backing and ruffle are the same polished cotton. The pieces are fine wools and similar lightweight fabrics. It is very good condition considering the age and fabrics. There are three missing pieces and some wear on a few others which I've shown in the pictures. It is clean and comes from a smoke free house. This quilt has a white background. It is hand quilted at 6-7 stitches per inch It is hand embroidered with whimsical animals and figures. It is hand bound. It measures 82" x 64" This quilt is in great condition. The embroidered cat has a couple threads that have become very thin. There is one small seam opening on the binding, one pinhead size spot, and on the back there is a tiny amount of surface wear as shown in the photos. Freshly hand laundered. Circa 1930-1940s baby child's flannel quilt top. A lot of hand stitching in this quilt top. Needs cleaning. Backing looks like feed sack. Feels like all cotton/ cotton flannel. Came from an estate I do not know if there were smoking or pets. Smells like it was stored in an old trunk. This would be adorable if it was finished. 5' x6' Is not finished or quilted. Very unusual.
