EACH PIECE is then completely outlined in a variety of different types of hand done feather stitches. The edges are all bound in different pieces from the quilt and again each edge is outlined in different feather stitches. The back is a soft tan flannel material. The center of the quilt features a silk piece embroidered and dated 1909. Many many other pieces in the quilt are featured with different pictorial embroidered little pictures of animals such as dogs, horses, fish, rams, sheep cat, chickens(Roosters) bird,elephant, etc. Also featured in embroidery are children, a house, military drummer boy, flag, evergreen tree, anchor and flowers. One piece is very special. It is a silk woven menu from the historic Arcade Hotel in Springfield, Ohio. There are 6 pieces of silk that show freying-one is the 1909 silk in the center. Otherwise it is in very very good condition. This piece is quite heavy weighing over 5 pounds. That will give you an idea of the amount of fabric and embroidery that went into making this piece.I have never seen a piece with this amount of extensive decorative feather stich embroidery in all parts of the quilt. Truly a wonderful decorative piece to hang on a wall. Over 100 years old and a wonderful piece of artwork. It measures 69 inches by ... more69 inches. It has amazing handwork and embroidery throughout. The back is made of fabric with castle scenes on it. The back is folded over the front and sewn to make an edging. Overall it is in quite good condition for its age. I counted about 4 places on the quilt that had a small amount of wear or damage. I showed two of these areas in pictures 8 and 9. So this quilt is NOT IN PERFECT CONDITION and I am selling it in as is condition. The quilt is quite heavy weighing just under 5 pounds alone. I will always combine shipping whenever possible to make sure you spend the least amount. I use the least expensive way of shipping I can which is usually the slowest method. If you need the package sent more quickly please let me know so that I can calculate the cost and send you an updated bill. I add a 1.00 handling fee to cover shipping supplies. Offered is a sweet little kitty pillow made from an awesome 1880s crazy quilt that has some amazing embroidery and hand painting.more goodies will be coming from this quilt very soon! This sweetie measures approximately 15 inches tall by about 11 inches across at the widest bottom part. It is plumped with new premium fiberfil and the back is from the backing of this same crazy quilt. The backing is a deep wine colored fabric. I believe taffeta, but maybe a heavier silk.just not sure. What makes this fabric so interesting is that it has white raised intertwining circles which appear to be painted or stenciled. This kitty proudly showcases some large white pond lilies with their green lily pads. The embroidery is detailed and lovely.there are even some gold chenille worked stamens. I've tied a black velvet ribbon around the kitty's neck and have added a beautiful butterfly pin.easily removable if you wish to wear it or give it as a gift. The butterfly's wings are Mother of Pearl encased in a gold tone metal. The dimensional eyes are white faux pearls.sweetness! Although I try very hard to use only the best areas of my cutter textiles. There might be some slight surface wear, but I will always let you know of any major issues. This is a Sampler CRAZY QUILT that has been signed and dated by many different ladies. The quilt displays their workmanship and embroidery skills. Entirely HAND MADE. There are multiple choices of embroidery holding the pieces together- its not just one stitch style. Please look at the edges of the pieces. There are a variety of fabrics used also- silk. Velvet etc. I've included pictures of some to the pieces where the fabric is fraying- probably more from the choice of material than through usage. Very talented needlework. Fabulous antique Crazy Quilt dated 1894. It remains in great condition. I only notice two spots were the fabric has seperated. A easy repair. This is NOT a cutter by any means. Comes from a very high end estate, the lady collected quilts and had each one wrapped in tissue paper in her linen closet. This quilt is a beauty, heavily embroidered all over. The quilts had been well-used by the owners and were dirty and odorous, and obviously had been stored for many years. The QUILTS have all been laundered and clothesline-dried. They smell fresh now. This is a wonderful piece of American art which should be priced over $1.000. It is an antique crazy quilt, which incorporates fan and star patterns, done primarily with satin? or silk? and velvet fabrics and with extensive embroidery. For the last 40 years, at least, it has been in a smoke free and pet free home. It measures 69" X 79" and is in very good vintage condition. There is one edge of the bright blue background which has slightly faded(pic# 7) and there are a small number of pieces in the star design where the fabric has deteriorated. Here I have the most beautiful vintage silk jacquard picot ribbon trim in the shade of vintage baby blue with pink salmon roses and green leaves and stems. There is a bronze gold metallic edge along the picot as well.it adds the slightest sparkle of vintage bliss. It has the sweetest picots on one edge and is so silk soft in the hand.truly a special and rare find.This is the REAL deal. Antique Crazy Quilt Dated 1888 Republican Tobacco Silks Benjamin Harrison
This wonderful crazy quilt is one of the best I have seen. It measures about 80 inches by 68 inches and is primarily silk and velvet. It has 20 squares which measure about 15 1/2 inches by 15 1/2 inches square. There is a section on one side that is original and looks like it was to make it a little longer that measures about 4 inches by 80 inches. I would estimate. Without an actual count that there are at least 840 individual pieces of material sewn together to make the quilt. There are so many different types of stitches(I am not a sewing expert) that I really can't estimate the number of different stitches used, there are many and they are beautiful and detailed. I have included photos, as many as allowed, of just some of the interesting stitches and embroidery(I will be glad to send additional photos if desired) There are embroidered ... moreshapes and flowers. There are photos of material pieces that have been hand painted with flowers and flowers and vines. There is a"fan shape" made from material pieces and fancy stitching. There are Republican silks that reference the Republican party and Benjamin Harrison and his Vice President Morton. One reads"Republican Delegation From Grand Old Harrison" There is another that reads"First Vote For President 1888 Harrison& Morton. There is one material piece with the initials"SWP" and I don't know if they are the initials of the maker or political related. Whoever made the quilt was a very, very talented person. I would describe the condition as very good however there are a few(very few) silk pieces that have splits. Antique folk art 1880s crazy quilt block in old frame
Here we have a unique folk art find: An antique American silk and velvet crazy quilt sampler single square block. Circa 1880s, with turkey track stitching. Seems to have been framed in 1969 and never opened since then. All pieces appear to be silk except for the one black banana shaped piece which is appears to be velvet. Stitched images include a white flower(cotton plant? A yellow flower(or corn cob? and a small flying bird. Wow! There is also an unusual and faded naïve ink drawing of a young girl with a bonnet and long dress drawn on the grey patch.possibly the artist herself? The piece is sealed inside a solid wood frame with glass. There is an old ink stamp on reverse of frame that reads that the piece was framed at 66 Washington Street in Marblehead Massachusetts by John G. Osborne Sr. and the date 1969. There also seems to be ... morean old handwritten price of $10.00 which may have been a good deal back then. The frame measures about 12-1/2” square and the exposed image measures about 8-3/4” square. Excellent condition overall. The antique sample square appears to have a couple small areas of soiling or staining…no unusual wear. Not examined out of frame. Antique vintage 4 Point Star Crazy quilt feedsacks
Four Point Star vintage quilt. 68" x 81" in size. The solid color stars are surrounded by crazy patchwork blocks in floral and novelty prints and solids. Lilac color sashings. The backside is a light peach. Salmon, or pink color I think. It looks a little bit faded in one area. This is not real noticeable. The yellow blocks in 3 corners have some light brown stain that was probably on the fabric when the quilt was made. Otherwise in good condition. A lot of feedsack prints are used on the front. Other fabrics are cotton.

AMAZING Vintage 1895 Victorian Crazy Antique Quilt ~VERMONT Family History! This MUSEUM QUALITY Victorian silk crazy quilt is all hand stitched. With wonderful hand embroidered embellishments. Hand cross stitched in the border is a substantial amount of family history: Lydia A. Shamberlin, born in Barnard, September, year 1820. Married James Gifford, December, year 1839. James Gifford died Oct. 13, 1868 Age 56 at Windsor, VT. Lydia A. Gifford married Benjamen F. Hemenway, September 14, 1869. Died at Ascutna(sp. Vil. VT, age 75 years. Perhaps the quilt was made by a family member for Lydia's funeral? In the background are wonderful pictorial accents, such as a house, oil lamp, dog, tiger, horse, swan, hunter, flowers, fans, and other items. It measures 52" X 66" and is in very good(especially for early silks) Unwashed condition, ... morewith very minor splits in 5-6 places and wear at places at the binding edge. There is sparse straight line quilting. Mostly in the border, at 6-7 stitches to the inch. The back is a pale pink cotton. The hand stitched binding is black silk, and the batting is thin. We have a problem, but what a charming problem in this piece of rural Spartanburg County, S.C. history, a lovely(yes, it still is) crazy quilt of silk, velvet, feed sack and cotton, some silk has shattered and is shattering, but there's nothing at all fragile about the rest of the quilt ~ and it's very clean, a definite plus. I think it started shattering before it could be used! The pieces were placed on muslin or feed sack(there's one pic that shows a portion of a 100-lb. feed sack) for a foundation and the back is a yellow muslin; someone has removed some of the silk that was obviously shattering, and it looks quite natural in those places, with the muslin or feed sack now part of the whole piece. Some pretty astonishing fabrics in this, and a lot of small pieces, measures a good 80" x 80" and I would be ... moretempted to just take the still damaged pieces off and display/ use as is. Quilt is so vibrant one forgives the silk problem. Of course it would be marvelous used for crafts(although I don't approve of that unless it's the only way to keep some of the original quilt preserved. Hand-sewn, finished piece with 2 floral blocks. I don't know the pattern. This piece measures 14" wide by 92" long. It is in excellent condition. Next is another antique hand-sewn piece(shown in the image with a single block in the same pattern) The single block measures 14" square and the sewn piece measures 14" wide by 92" long. There is one noticeable area of tiny specks/stains in one of the pink and white blocks. See close-up image insert. Also. Rare Antique Gorgeous 1920 Crazy Quilt
Beautiful Crazy quilt from 1920 Rich Velvet mixed with satin-like material. Hand stitched. Embroidered with makers names some wear and tear in some areas but all in all for a piece of work done from the early 1900's this is still in excellent condition. Has a few spots where satin has worn away and can see the backing quilted. Back has some stain and a tiny burn-like hole I am not a quilter but couldn't resist this beautiful piece of history at a local Ky auction. From an estate in Dallas Texas is a beautiful antique silk and velvet Folk Art Crazy Quilt. Found with this quilt was a note that stated that the Grandmother handmade this silk blanket from remmants of ties and clothing from the family. It would have been made in the early 1900's to the best of my guess. The top is all handstitched. The back has been machine sewn to the top except for one side which looks handstitched. Handtied with a yarn in places. There are a few(maybe 8) where the silk has come unstitched or is seperated. I have tried to show some of these in the photos. BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE HANDMADE CRAZY QUILT DATED 1889 WITH CASTLE FABRIC ON BACK
This is a beautiful antique crazy quilt. It is dated 1896 and the initials MJR and VAR are embroidered into the quilt as well. It measures 69 inches by 69 inches. It has amazing handwork and embroidery throughout. The back is made of fabric with castle scenes on it. The back is folded over the front and sewn to make an edging. Overall it is in quite good condition for its age. I counted about 4 places on the quilt that had a small amount of wear or damage. I showed two of these areas in pictures 8 and 9. So this quilt is NOT IN PERFECT CONDITION and I am selling it in as is condition. The quilt is quite heavy weighing just under 5 pounds alone. I will always combine shipping whenever possible to make sure you spend the least amount. I use the least expensive way of shipping I can which is usually the slowest method. up for auction i have an antique crazy quilt that i recently purchased at a flea market.the colors are exceptional. the back of the quilt is still intact and in good shape. the front displays an array of beautiful colors. naturally, some of the material has deteriorated with age. But overall it is in good condition. W L Calender is embroidered on one of the pieces and the name Myrtle Raymond is written in ink or marker on one of the pieces. This is a very nice old crazy quilt and i hope it finds a good home. my mom quilted all of her life. Heavy duty material This one is heavier than most For a full sized bed measures 68x72 It does have a piece of white muslin or cotton sewn over the top panel of the quilt I think it was to preserve it as I can not see any damage to the panels underneath It will be easy to remove if wanted. This auction is for an antique crazy quilt. Dated 1924 and signed Ruby. Overall condition is nice. Some of the fabrics are starting to come apart and the edge is torn in a few spots. But overall it is intact. Many different fabrics were used from simple cotton to heavy velvet and lovely silk. Back is a paisley print and tacked. So many intricate stiches have been used. Measures 87" x 72" I believe it was probably made for a double bed. Please let me know if you need more photos. Ask questions before bidding as I do not accept returns. Shipping USPS.
