There are square geometric patterns to the outer edges. It is a really nice quilt and one of two I am offering this week, please see my other listings. Condition; it displays well though there are frays and repairs to the fabric with some holes within the top layers of cotton as well as to the edges. Still strong. To the rear there are brown marks to one corner where somebody has washed it and let it dry badly on a heat source, not sure if this will come out or not? The mohair is antique. The backing seems to be from a later 1940's material, similar to a bark cloth type. The throw is very heavy in weight like an old quilt. This lovely old quilt piece was cut from a quilt with some damaged areas. The quilt had a piece on the back that was just stitched on at the edges. When I opened it I found a very old quilt in side. It is a tied quilt. The star area was hand quilted just through the top layer of the back of the older quilt. The older quilt has very early tiny blue prints in it. Both were pieced by machine. It is in good condition except for splits in one block on the older side. It is clean, odor free and 29 by 32 inches. I am now listing many antique quilt and coverlet pieces and I am always happy to combine shipping.

This is an auction for a VINTAGE/ANTIQUE RED WHITE& BLUE PATCHWORK QUILT- 62"x80" HANDMADE in MISSOURI. The majority of the 3 1/2" finished blocks are made of vintage cotton fabrics mainly red. White, blue in color- but there are a few blocks of greens, yellows. browns also in the quilt. The backing& edging are done in white cotton and the filling appears to be a white flannel(lightweight) The quilt is EXTREMELY OLD. Although I do not know the exact date of when it was made. It was my grandmother-in-law's quilt and she was born in 1901. My husband remembers her having this quilt& just knows that it something that she made. And obviously lovingly used. She lived her entire life in the"Lead Belt" area of the state of Missouri, south of St. Louis. This quilt is completely hand quilted. But finished in ... morea machine stitched binding. The quilt is NOT IN PERFECT CONDITION. There are some stains. Some tears& rips, some missing binding on the edges. The back side is not in as good of condition as the front side. As some of the back fabric is well- worn and has deteriorated. I'm guessing that is why there appears to be an 8 1/2" binding( on one end of the quilt- maybe to reinforce the back side where the fabric was damaged. But why she would also put it across the front side I don't understand. Maybe it was meant to designate the head of the bed where the pillows were to lie on top. I'm not sure- the quilt blocks underneath that strip do not appear to be damaged. A mystery that will never be solved, as Grandma died years ago, before I had the quilt and could ask questions from her. There are no musty smells and it has always been in pet-free. Smoke-free homes. Check the pictures carefully to see where I have tried to picture some of the damages. I have not made any attempt to repair or clean it. Vintage Nine Patch quilt. 66" x 81" in size. Hand quilted and hand pieced. The front has nine patch blocks in prints and solids. They are surrounded by sashings and posts in different colors. The backside is light blue and folds over to the front to make the binding. The backside has a torn place by one edge as the picture shows and a few other small tears. The batting is lumpy some here and there but the quilt lays good and flat. The front is knit fabric. The back is cotton. Bright and colorful.

Lovely Handmade- Early Patchwork Quilt circa 1875-1890 100% Authentic Antique Lovely. Cotton, hand made quilt- 71"x 71" Colors range from Robins-egg blue. Light pinks, lilac purple, sage green and more, set against a d elicate background of pale pink and reds. An Absolutely Beautiful combination of colors. Completely Reversible-as it is finished on both sides. The fabric on the back of the quilt consists of sweet little pink flowers. Not your usual white- It is SO PRETTY! The underside is in Super condition! I can see no signs of wear which is remarkable considering her vintage. It is a beautiful selection of fabric squares. Each with it's own distinct flavor. Antique / Vintage CHURN DASH Hand Made Patchwork Cotton Tied Quilt 77" X 88"
This Auction is for A Very Pretty Vintage Churn Dash Quilt. Measures approx. 77 inches X 88 inches. A great number of the blocks in this quilt are late 1800's hand pieced blocks with some vintage blocks to make it this large. The block are connected together with a very pretty cinnamon pink cotton chambray. The backing is a unassuming check patterned cotton print. Within the quilt there is a very thick layer of cotton quilt batting(this quilt will keep you warm) Quilt was then hand tied. No rips or noted tears. Some of the antique blocks have dark brownish stains that are probably very old. I am noting several yellow spots that don't appear to be old stains. All of these are shown in pictures. Antique Vintage JAPANESE LANTERN patchwork QUILT BLOCK c1930-1940. A fabulous Rare find! This unbleached muslin block is 15 inches square and 21 inches on point. Typical 1930's colors of BLUE. YELLOW, PEACH, GREEN, etc. with STRIPES, FLORALS, POLKA DOTS, PLAIDS, and GEOMETRICS. All HAND-PIECED and hand-appliqued with precision. The handle is machine stitched in black. The lantern and handle is 12 inches tall and is 8 inches wide. The diamond patches are each 3.75" long by 2 inches wide. 1920s Hand Stitched Antique or Vintage Patchwork Quilt Top
This quilt top is from the estate of my Great Aunt. It dates from some time in the 1920's and was one of the first attempts my Aunt made at quilting as a child. The stars are entirely HAND STITCHED. Ugh, I can't even imagine how many hours it must have taken to sew every one of those together! The top measures aprox. 75" X 80"It is made from some sort of muslin background and the pattern is patchwork stars. The patchwork stars were from from family clothing that was too worn out to wear anymore. Many of the pieces seem to be fraying at the edges, I suspect some time in the last 90 years that the top was washed and the edges came undone not having been quilted together yet. I'm sure a person knowledgable in quilting could repair it. There are some faint mystery stains in various places. I'm not sure if they are permanent ... morebut I don't want to risk damaging it since I don't know what I am doing. My Aunt didn't smoke so there is no smokey smell or any other type of musty mystery smells to it, it just smells like old textiles. Description Wonderful antique Victorian unfinished patchwork quilt panel. Which has been produced from numerous pieces of various dress silk of the period and earlier(some dating back to the late 18th century) and includes checks, patterned and striped fabric. Each section has been hand stitched and is backed with old paper, most with old ink writing and including latter heads and invoices. AGE The panel would date to the middle of the 19th century. Circa 1850. SIZE The panel measures 30½" long and 76½" wide. CONDITION The panel is in a good antique condition. Although some of the patches have suffered with time, some have holes/tears in palces. Antique Quilt Bunny Rabbit Primitive Lammerts St. Louis MO Patchwork Buttons
This is an adorable Bunny Rabbit made from an old quilt. The tag(which is not physically attached but I still have) says it is 40 to 100 years old. It is a one of a kind piece and made from choice remnants of antique american quilts. Great as a baby gift or for the bunny collector or just a decorative item. Ther are two buttons which are by the front legs which come together around another larger button as if it was rolling on it. It was purchased from a furniture store in St. Louis. Missouri called Lammerts when they were on Lindbergh Blvd. The fabric is mostly vibrant but there are some parts which are faded(it is old fabric) but he could probably be dusted too. Antique Vintage CHINESE a.k.a. JAPANESE LANTERN patchwork QUILT BLOCK c1930-1940. A fabulous Rare find! This unbleached muslin block is 14.5 inches square and 21 inches on point. Typical 1930's colors of BLUE. PINK, YELLOW, PEACH, GREEN, etc. with STRIPES, FLORALS, POLKA DOTS, PLAIDS, SOLIDS, and GEOMETRICS. All pretty cotton fabrics of the day. All HAND-PIECED and hand-appliqued with precision. The handle is machine stitched squiggely in black. The lantern and handle is 12 inches tall and is 8 inches wide. Antique BOW TIES Colorful Patchwork Quilt Top Great Cotton Prints Antique Bow Tie Pattern Patchwork Quilt Recently purchased from a Florida woman's family estate auction. This one is another of the quilts or quilt tops that was stitched by her grandmother. This is a quilt top done in the patchwork Bow Tie pattern. This particular one is done in crisp. Sturdy cotton, precisely quilted with cotton prints that duplicate the actual prints that were in many bow ties of that era. Each bow tie patch measures 5-1/4" and the two different background prints are red polka dots on a cream background-in two different sizes. It measures 82" x 74" overall and is in its original unwashed condition with numerous storage marks and spots as can be seen in my photos. This classic pattern quilt is in excellent condition with no rips. Tears ... moreor holes and is a great example of the machine-stitched quilts from the 1930-1940 era. This quilt is an absolutely beautiful handmade patchwork piece. It measures 94"x 86" and has matching shams which measure 30"x 24" This quilt was found at an estate sale in North Carolina. Not sure of the age but it is definitely old. I am not even sure this quilt has ever been used. It is in excellent shape with no stains, no rips, tears or holes. Extremely nice, looks new!

Antique 16 Patch Bow Tie Quilt Blanket Vintage Graphic Design Patchwork This is an antique quilted blanket that has 16 patch squares in the center and a different pattern on the outside squares. It measures approximately 70" by 75" and has approximately 7 stitches per inch. The fabric on the edge has frayed in places and there is a stain on the back as shown in the photos. Antique Red and White Quilt Patchwork Hand Quilted c 1920s
Antique Red& White Quilt Hand pieced and hand quilted. Red with white polka dots fabric is circa 1910-1925. Measures 74 x 76 inches. No musty odors. This block has two common names(maybe more) Duck Foot" and/or"Cross and Crown. Block size is 9 inches. Sashing is five(5) inches wide and is quilted in a feather pattern. Very good solid condition showing no signs of wear. No holes. No thin areas, no fraying to binding. Cotton fabric is soft and smooth. Batting is lightweight. When held to light, there is evidence of cotton seeds/hulls. I consider this a summer quilt. Provenance unknown as I purchased from an antique store several years ago. Quilt stitches are neat& tidy; 16 to 18 stitches per inch(top& bottom) Rows of quilting are close together making the appearance of a nice scrunchy look. Quilt lays flat. Binding was ... moreattached by machine. Concerns to consider that prevent it from being described as mint: there is one age spot along one side of quilt. Some of the red threads from the blocks have been sewn into the batting. Not noticeable from a distance. Can be seen when quilt is viewed closely. Along edges and on back. There is some general pale yellowing to fabric. I would consider it"off-white. I have pictured edge along side an ecru maltese coverlet that I have on my bed. All concerns are pictured. Quilt has been in my collection for approximately 6 years. It was only out as display during Christmas holidays. It was then stored in a closet wrapped in a pillow case. I have never laundered quilt as I felt there was not a need. If I were to keep quilt and display more often. I would gently soak in cold water in the bathtub and air dry. I have tested a corner of the red fabric to make sure it would not bleed onto white. It appears to be colorfast. When fabric is wet, the red seam allowance is visible. Although. I am not a quilt appraiser, I am knowledgeable about antique and vintage quilts. Books I use for references are: Dating Fabrics" by Eileen Jahnke Trestain and"Carrie Hall
