They measure approx. 9/16" They DO NOT attract a magnet. They seem to be in good condition for their age. They were purchased from an estate years ago. Therefore you are purchasing them as found. Set 5 VICTORIAN Metal Buttons Copper Foliate, Imitation Cut Steels, Twinkle
A very nice set of 5 Victorian Metal buttons. Stamped tinted metal in a copper color of a foliate or leaf pattern on one side. On the other are stamped imitation cut steels over a mirror back. Classed as a twinkle button by collectors. Each button measures just a nudge over 1/2" in diameter. The backs have a wire loop shank and are Japanned(painted black) While the mirror back was very difficult to photograph it is strongly visible in hand. Not always easy to find matching sets. Here is an antique brass pictorial button. Late 19th century. It has a peacock design with a shiny silvery liner showing through the feathers, a construction collectors refer to as a"twinkle. It is a size small: 5/8" in diameter. The back is black lacquered white metal with a wire shank. Aside from the paint wear on the back, it is in very good condition. A fine old button. Antique button lot: 1 twinkle, 1 picture, 1whistle, 4 shoe & 5 victorian buttons
These unusual button types were identified by a button expert(not me) and would add interest to any button collection. The shoe buttons were used to fasten shoes. As the name suggests, the whistle button is shaped so that one can blow in it and make a sound, The picture button is metal and shoes a house in the mountains, The twinkle button has a reflective background with a grid over it, and the Victorian are fancy buttons for that day. Good condition for their age. Will combine with other orders.

Sweet Set Of 8 Small Victorian Twinkle Type Button With Pearl Center
Sweet set of 1/2" buttons made of brass looking pierced metal over what looks like a silver base. Giving it to twinkle when light hits it a certain way, and the center looks to be a round slice of pearl. They are in very nice shape but so have some miner spots or flaws on some of the pearl centers. Very nice. When listing an item. The condition question only offers two choices- New or used. Unless my found vintage and antique buttons are still on their original card. I list them as used because of their age. However, I do not know,for sure,if they were actually ever used or not.
