Floral themed, with faceted, riveted cut steels. measuring 11/16" with a solid little chunky mother of pearl button dangle 19" vintage brass chain included Vintage brass findings accent the button ~~~Your vintage jewelry will arrive in a brand new gift box- perfect for storing or gift-giving ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My jewelry is made with vintage and antique buttons and findings. Most of my buttons were obtained years ago through estate sales and antique stores. Back before button collecting became extremely popular and the truly vintage buttons became harder to find! I don't use modern. Cheap plastic, filler buttons. All of the buttons that I use are generally ... morefrom the 1800's through1950's. I try never to"harm" a button. I devise creative ways of using these treasured keepsakes without gluing or harming them in any way. Only gluing buttons, or removing shanks if they were damaged when I received them. And when I do use glue. You won't find'globs' or'strings' of glue on my vintage button creations. I do not use a hot glue gun and mass produce. I use only the finest jewelers' adhesives. And take my time designing just the right piece. In some of my creations I also use vintage jewelry parts. Stampings and findings. Again, nothing modern is used. Several pieces have 14K gold or sterling silver chains. A good portion of my vintage brass findings were obtained from a woman who purchased them years and years ago from a vintage costume jewelry manufacturer who had gone out of business. These gorgeous brass findings had been sitting in their warehouse for years before being bought. They are vintage. And yet they are unused. Most of the findings are from the 1940's and 1950's. Because I only use vintage or antique buttons. They may show wear and age. This is expected from something that is 6

Filigree-style brass over a sheet of textured, taupe celluloid; this lacy, openwork piece is curved and raised from the surface- it's not flat or flush with the celluloid as you more typically find. In the center is an iris-striped, foiled stone. I usually see these rhinestones with green, but this one is just red, white(or colorless) and blue. It measures about 1 1/4" NBS large) And is in fair/good condition. This button has some spots of celluloid that ... moreare missing the taupe coloring(oddly enough) there is random verdigris in the crevices, and the japanned back looks slightly flat. You should be able to see all of these issues in the photos, and I know I'm making it sound horribly disfigured, but this button is truly a lovely work of art. The brass can be cleaned with a bit of vinegar and patience. And if the lighter spots of celluloid bother you(and you're skilled at matching colors) I would think it could be tinted somehow to blend in a little better. Faceted, individually riveted steels Please Note: Lately there has been a proliferation of brand new buttons being described- and sold- as" 1940's" O ld French Metal" New Old Stock" Art Nouveau Deco Victorian" which would be difficult since those are three distinct eras) etc. etc. including many buttons with animals, Victorian Women, and other popular subjects common to authentic antique picture buttons. Most of these listings claim the buttons are"rare" hard to find" when these run out they're gone" and other similar, frantic verbiage. Ebay"completed listings" are full of them. This has continued unabated for several years now, I guess because it is so profitable as new, novice button collectors ... morejoin the ranks every day, and there are no ebay Vero police for antique buttons. Unfortunately, for most of these buttons, this simply is not true. They are not even"1940's" re-strikes but, rather, BRAND NEW buttons. It is beyond dishonest(IMO, it is criminal) to lie about the provenance(or anything else) in a listing in order to command usurious prices for something readily available on the open market for just a few dollars each if one knows where to look. This is an Authentic Antique Brass Button with Cut Steels. The button is made of brass with openwork and a swirl pattern of cut steels. It is layered over an antique mother of pearl button and placed on a setting. The color of the chain and metals is antique bronze which looks great with the button. The button measures 7/8" and it has a lobster claw clasp. The necklace sits on the chest. It looks better this way. This particular Cut Steels Button still has its shank. Most Sellers charge $70.00 or more for their button creations but I wanted to make it affordable for all. Depending what the button is made of. Style, etc. determines my price.
