A very nice set of 5 Victorian Metal buttons. Stamped tinted metal in a copper color of a foliate or leaf pattern on one side. On the other are stamped imitation cut steels over a mirror back. Classed as a twinkle button by collectors. Each button measures just a nudge over 1/2" in diameter. The backs have a wire loop shank and are Japanned(painted black) While the mirror back was very difficult to photograph it is strongly visible in hand. Not always easy to find matching sets. This is a painted metal sewing button with a square enamel center with foil. The enamel work is white with blue foil. 4 gray dots, and a bit of mauve coloring. The painted portion of the button is mauve. And silver. There are gold borders around the square center, and around the four cut steels. A small portion of the mauve paint is on one of the steel cuts. Cut steels are in very good condition.other than the paint. It has openwork. Measures 9/16" An NBS small. Condition is very good.
