The buttons I'm currently listing are from my grandmother's collection. She began collecting in the 1930's and passed away four years ago at 103. The collections encompass all periods. Styles and materials. Although buttons are completely foreign to me, I've kindly received guidance on them and have tried to educate myself regarding them. Nice assortment of 20 antique metal buttons. The larger ones are around 7/8" to 1" The smallest is the pearl at 1/2" You will find a variety of finishes including some tinted. 1 set in a scalloped celluloid frame, 1 is layered-etched- has several rows of rivets. 2 of the buttons have marks on back-the gold backed Twinkle is marked ZCzechoslovakia, the pretty violet tinted with flower& butterfly raised design is marked Industrie Paris ifinnt. Pierced buttons, floral-rose, bird on a branch, moon& stars, tinted large magnolia, Jacobean swirl with velvet backing, saucer shape with glass bead inset are some of the designs you will find. I've included an image of the backs. THE HALF BALL SHAPED BASE IS OPENWORK WHITE METAL. THE TOP IS PURPLISH TINTED RIVETED CUT STEELS ON A FRAMEWORK. THE ESCUTCHEON OF RIVETED STEELS IS PINSHANKED TO THE BODY OF THE BUTTON. ANTIQUE BRASS ETCHED PIERCED METAL TWINKLE MIRROR BUTTONS SQUARE 3 PCS 3/8"
This auction is for three lovely antique etched. Pierced brass metal twinkle mirror back buttons with a silver metal backing. They each measure approximately 3/8" square and 1/4" depth. These are being sold"AS IS" I believe that if these were shined up. They would be sparkling and one could see the inside of the tiny holes more clearly. If one looks closely at photos, there are iridescent colors of purples, pinks, blue/turquoise.see Photo 2 in particular) Photos have been taken in natural light with no flash. They are a darker brass and are not super bright.they are also much more delicate than photos depicted at a closer view. Please take this into consideration. They look like little pillows.
