Here are four(4) antique composition buttons in a variety of types. One of them has an inlay of stenciled crystalized tin. Fronts and backs are shown in scans. The one with crystalized tin is a size medium. 13/16" in diameter. The rest are smalls ranging from 3/4" to 9/16" in diameter. All are in excellent condition. Lot of 16 Antique Buttons - Military, GAR, Monogram, Mother of Pearl Inlay etc.
Many/most of these are a mystery to me but I think they are interesting. In order of the 4 groupings in the close up photos they are: 4 Navy jacket buttons.1 was made by American Hard Rubber Co. so it dates probably to the late 1800's. 1 1/4" to 1 1/3" The others are a newer plastic with no names on them. They are all in very good condition. 3 silver two piece buttons with brass shanks and backs. 3/4" Made by American Uniform Company New York. they have a very fancy raised design on them with horses, an eagle etc. Perhaps a State symbol? They are all in good condition. 2 more Navy buttons(have anchors anyway) The black one is made of a material I can't identify(glass? with a metal shank. 1" No makers name.Good condition. The gold color small triangle/square anchor one is just 1/2" No makers name. Some tarnish/discoloration. ... moreEagle State seal button made by The Austin Company Providence RI. I believe this is from WW1. 7/8" The shank is partially bent over but otherwise very nice. Brass eagle, looks quite old but doesn't have any identifying name on it, 3/4" Shank is partially bent over and has a couple green tarnish spots on back. Two monogram"P" brass buttons. One is marked Made in England on the back and looks older then the other. The older one has a slightly bent over shank. Maroon fabric button with fabric shank. There is a brass raised design that almost looks like an insect to me. About 2/3" Other then a little of the fabric worn off it in in good condition. Small(just over 1/2"brass button with elaborate laurel leaf? design and inlaid with a mother of pearl design that kind of looks like a shield? No writing on back. Good condition. GAR post civil war brass button. Marked Horstmann Bros. on the back. The shank is bent over quite a bit but otherwise is good. Cost of shipping will be $3.00. Please email with questions.

35 Antique MOP, Heavy,Large, Square,Oval, Etched, Cut Brass w/MOP Inlay, Buttons
Listing 60. 35 Buttons that are Mother of Pearl or are decorated with MOP. The large oval and several others are 1 3/4 inches in diameter. Several are etched and carved in beautiful ways. Some are very thick MOP. Several have brass or metal around the outside. Trimmed with MOP. Several are metal with just a small decoration of MOP. Please check out pictures carefully. Most of the Underleak collection was completed before and during the early years of the Second World war, so most of the collection would have come before 1941. These buttons have been boxed up for 60 to 75 years. They were used and displayed prior to being put away. Please see pictures to determine the condition. Ask questions or ask for more pictures if you want to see an additional views. We have inherited a button collection from Minnesota. We have counted over 70.000 buttons ... moreso far. They were started by a woman in 1867, who, as a child, began her first charm string. We understand she was 7 years old when the collection was begun. Her name was Mrs. Anna Underleak. She exhibited her collection at the Minnesota State Fair in 1939. At that time, she had close to 40,000 buttons. She and her daughter determined to have the largest collection in Minnesota, and it appears, they kicked it into full gear in the 1940's because many of the cards of buttons are dated during that decade. We are not sure when Mrs. Underleak died but her daughter died in the early 1970's and our mother purchased the whole collection as part of the daughter's estate. When our mother counted the collection in around 1999-2000, she came up with the total of 83,000 buttons. We have now inherited it, and are beginning to sell it. We are not sure whether it ever was the largest collection in Minnesota. But there are several newspaper articles, with pictures, that show Mrs. Underleak surrounded by her buttons in 1939. She was in the St. Paul Paper and the Pine River Journal. We have no experience with buttons, other than using them, so we are trying to learn about them as

Interesting 9" by 12" Collectors' Card of 42 Different Antique Inlay& Related Construction Buttons. Most examples are composition. Horn, vegetable ivory or shell. Many buttons have whistle-type construction. All buttons in this group measure from 5/8" to 7/8" and are in very good condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. For International customers. We ship globally, however, to insure packages we must use Priority Mail which can be prohibitively priced. Packages will be shipped via first class mail without insurance unless the customer requests it. The US Customs form number can be provided as proof of shipment.

A small lot of antique and vintage buttons with various inlays. Included are papier maché flowers. Composition with flecks of pearl, celluloid-backed horn, navy blue drum-shaped and more.
