This is an exceptionally nice 19th Century stamped Brass button with cut steel decoration of a comet or"Shooting Star" We arenot positive but. It appears to have been gilded, too. It is 1 1/2 inches in diameter and is in excellent condition.

Vintage / Antique Mother Of Pearl Button With Steel Cut Moon And Star
This button is small at 9/16" but it packs a lot into that size. It is mother of pearl that shines with iridescence under light especially a green color. The circumference has a higher ridge and inside the drum created inside that ridge there is a riveted steel cut crescent moon and a steel cut star surrounding the sew through holes of the button. It is old and is not perfect. Having some light rust spots and some roughness, but it is quite unusual and just imagine the work it took to create such a button. The dime in the last picture is included to illustrate relative size and is not included in the auction. Payment is expected within two days of the end of the auction. Sorry but I only sell and ship to the contiguous United States- excluding Hawaii and Alaska.

Antique Victorian enamel button 1 3/8" dia. gilded brass pierced star cut steel
This antique enamel button measures 1 3/8" diameter. It resembles Cloisonne. But the pattern is stamped rather than applied. The separate sections are colored with enamel, with red predominating, highlighted with navy blue, aqua and green. The pierced five pointed star is probably stamped out of the brass although it resembles filigree. The brass has been lightly gilded and although it looks pretty good, under the loupe, it does have some darkening and some small losses. The cut steel decoration in the center is slightly rusted and very little shine remains. The back is unmarked; the shank is a simple loop of gilded brass.

A very nice group of six matching mother of pearl circles with metal eight point stars. Each button is about 1/2"5/8" across. They each have a metal loop in the back that is intact.
