30 antique metal buttons each with a different unique design. The largest is 1-1/2" The smallest is 5/8" All types of metals. All have either holes or shanks present. The one larger button has many tiny holes cut in the metal giving it a unique design. Many are cut steel. Some have open designs. Two have gemlike centers. One is a pearl. The other black diamond shaped. A few Art Deco designs. A few look to be hand etched designs. A brass train. A brass rose. One says VN Balboa with a spaniard. Another has a cornucopia. Listing 60. 35 Buttons that are Mother of Pearl or are decorated with MOP. The large oval and several others are 1 3/4 inches in diameter. Several are etched and carved in beautiful ways. Some are very thick MOP. Several have brass or metal around the outside. Trimmed with MOP. Several are metal with just a small decoration of MOP. Please check out pictures carefully. Most of the Underleak collection was completed before and during the early years of the Second World war, so most of the collection would have come before 1941. These buttons have been boxed up for 60 to 75 years. They were used and displayed prior to being put away. Please see pictures to determine the condition. Ask questions or ask for more pictures if you want to see an additional views. We have inherited a button collection from Minnesota. We have counted over 70.000 buttons ... moreso far. They were started by a woman in 1867, who, as a child, began her first charm string. We understand she was 7 years old when the collection was begun. Her name was Mrs. Anna Underleak. She exhibited her collection at the Minnesota State Fair in 1939. At that time, she had close to 40,000 buttons. She and her daughter determined to have the largest collection in Minnesota, and it appears, they kicked it into full gear in the 1940's because many of the cards of buttons are dated during that decade. We are not sure when Mrs. Underleak died but her daughter died in the early 1970's and our mother purchased the whole collection as part of the daughter's estate. When our mother counted the collection in around 1999-2000, she came up with the total of 83,000 buttons. We have now inherited it, and are beginning to sell it. We are not sure whether it ever was the largest collection in Minnesota. But there are several newspaper articles, with pictures, that show Mrs. Underleak surrounded by her buttons in 1939. She was in the St. Paul Paper and the Pine River Journal. We have no experience with buttons, other than using them, so we are trying to learn about them as

Here I have a neat set of 6 vintage 7/8" concho type shank buttons. They are unmarked. These I believe are silver over brass as there is green on the backs of some. ANTIQUE BRASS ETCHED PIERCED METAL TWINKLE MIRROR BUTTONS SQUARE 3 PCS 3/8"
This auction is for three lovely antique etched. Pierced brass metal twinkle mirror back buttons with a silver metal backing. They each measure approximately 3/8" square and 1/4" depth. These are being sold"AS IS" I believe that if these were shined up. They would be sparkling and one could see the inside of the tiny holes more clearly. If one looks closely at photos, there are iridescent colors of purples, pinks, blue/turquoise.see Photo 2 in particular) Photos have been taken in natural light with no flash. They are a darker brass and are not super bright.they are also much more delicate than photos depicted at a closer view. Please take this into consideration. They look like little pillows.

Up for auction today and bought from a very old estate of Antique Buttons. Are 3 19th. Century Brass Buttons, which have been painted with Black Enamel Paint, and then an Image has been Hand Etched through to reveal the brass underneath. The images are all the same, it is a Bucket going into a Well, with Birds flying over the top. Each button measures 3/4" across. They all have metal loop shanks. A magnet does not stick to any part of the button. They are all in Excellent damage free condition. If you collect Antique buttons, you may love these for your collection.
