The stones have long, rectangular and square- cut, not molded- facets on the table and are of very nice quality, but I can't say for cetain their exact compostion. I would think they're at least leaded, if not rock, crystal. They are mounted in strikingly simple metal frames. With strong prongs on each corner to hold the crystals in place, and loop shanks on straps across the back. They are not marked that I can see. The buttons measure ... morejust over 3/8" on each side. Or roughly 9/16" from point to point, the way they're intended to be attached, and are in very good condition, but there is light tarnish, so they could use a gentle buffing if you like your buttons shiny and glossy. Large lot of antique and vintage metal buttons. Over two pounds of buttons. Most are metal and a few may be plastic with gold or silver coating made to look like metal. I stopped counting this lot of buttons at 200, and there looked to be at least another 100 beyond that left in the box uncounted. Large lot consists mainly of Military type metal buttons, flat security back buttons and odds and ends of a handful of broken buttons and a bell. I photographed some of the different military buttons included in this lot, but what is shown is most likely not every design of button. Wide variety with many different designs ranging from eagles, lions, crowns, arrows, wreaths, bows, knight in armor on horseback, shields, anchors, family crests and initials, with at least one"Navy" button and one"Army" button. There is a set of small ... moregold covered plastic buttons with large sailing ships on them, a couple brightly colored enameled buttons, small simple metal buttons which had been painted and now have only a little of their original paint on them, and a single large handmade button made out of an old metal bottle cap. There are also many flat, simple buttons that look similar to coin machine slugs, which I believe were used as a backup button on the inside of a garment to hold the front button in place. Mixed lot of sizes. Metallic colors and patterns. Some of these antique buttons have corrosion, with some of the brass buttons showing areas of green and some of the steel buttons having rust. Most are in nice used condition as seen in photographs. I photographed some of the interesting buttons next to a nickel for size comparison only. All buttons seen in photos are included in this lot. Antique& vintage lot of over 2 pounds of buttons have all previously been used and may have thread and/or fabric still on the back. Please expect normal wear.
