Museum Owned Lot Charmstring of 238 19th Century Antique Victorian Buttons
This 3' x 1' display contains 238 antique buttons of all types- enamel- glass- metal- mirror backs- shell- mother of pearl and abalone- pictorials and more. And was lovingly and painstakingly put together by volunteer Hazel Hadley for the Milton Hershey Story Museum in Hershey, PA. It is marked as such on the reverse. The examples on it are among the best of the best. Not all appear in close-up. As I only get twelve photos. It was on display at the museum for several decades. Then put in storage for about 15 years. I purchased it at auction about 2-years ago and was awaiting the paperwork/cataloguing of it from the museum, but it does not appear to be forthcoming. RARE Set of 8! 19th Century Victorian Steel Cut BUTTONS Floral Rose Flower EIGHT
Very fine detail on these beautiful cut steel buttons! Many buttons of the same period are quite crude in their design: not these. They appear to be bright-cut engraved with the design. As sterling silver would be decorated. They were used on a wedding dress in 1869. In England or Wales. These are Estate fresh, off the market since 1869. The flowers glisten and catch the light. The whole set presents beautifully. A few fleabites do not detract either visually or to the touch: they are smooth and should not snag. The lot includes a small brass with intricate borders; a hand-ground glass with pin shank; an early silvered brass; a brass with a nail head shank surrounded by a dimpled tin plate and a green painted collar; a small brass with a cross patterned top and a small key shank metal with patterned top. SET of 5 UNIQUE 19th Century CUT STEEL BUTTONS 1/2" square with 9 rivets each
This auction is for a group of matching. Cut steel buttons, from the 19th century. They measures approximately 1/2" square(12.5 mm. Each button has 9 small faceted. Cut steel pieces, riveted on to a back plate with a hole for each rivet. The decorated plate is attached to the flat square back. Which has a soldered metal shank. The buttons are in good condition without any missing parts or repairs. There is a bit of rust on the corner of 3 buttons. Where there are some squiggly lines on the metal. These 5 matching.
