These were in a very old box. Which also contained gloves and other buttons that will be listed here. They are glass and looped together on wire. We took them apart to show you the details. This is what we think they are. Opaque pink glass buttons. Spider detail on a very small button. Pretty pink color. They have a"self shank" for attaching the buttons to clothing They are odd, but very pretty. I could not find any information about these. I can't tell you how old they are. What we do know is that we inherited old bank boxes,collar boxes, glove boxes and tins full of great interesting items. These are not from my Grandmothers collection, however they may be from relatives that lived in Salem Mass. We are not sure. Listing 169. Black Glass buttons in oblong and oval and square. One three square embellishment that is about 3 inches long. Several squares that have little dots of color. One oval that is shot with gold. One square that has a flower applied to the top with some enamel paint, I think. Several sets of oblong or oval buttons. Most of the Underleak collection was completed before and during the early years of the Second World war, so most of the collection would have come before 1941. These buttons have been boxed up for 60 to 75 years. They were used and displayed prior to being put away. Please see pictures to determine the condition. Ask questions or ask for more pictures if you want to see an additional views. We have inherited a button collection from Minnesota. We have counted over 70.000 buttons so far. They were started by a woman in ... more1867, who, as a child, began her first charm string. We understand she was 7 years old when the collection was begun. Her name was Mrs. Anna Underleak. She exhibited her collection at the Minnesota State Fair in 1939. At that time, she had close to 40,000 buttons. She and her daughter determined to have the largest collection in Minnesota, and it appears, they kicked it into full gear in the late 30's early 1940's because many of the cards of buttons are dated during that time. We are not sure when Mrs. Underleak died but her daughter died in the early 1970's and our mother purchased the whole collection as part of the daughter's estate. When our mother counted the collection in around 1999-2000, she came up with the total of 83,000 buttons. We have now inherited it, and are beginning to sell it. We are not sure whether it ever was the largest collection in Minnesota. But there are several newspaper articles, with pictures, that show Mrs. Underleak surrounded by her buttons in 1939. She was in the St. Paul Paper and the Pine River Journal. We have no experience with buttons, other than using them, so we are trying to learn about them as quickly as we can. We woul

Set of 9 Black Amethyst Faceted Small Oval Glass Buttons Pressed Molded Czech
Matching set of 9 antique pressed/molded black amethyst glass faceted oval buttons that measure approximately 1/2" long x just under 1/4" wide. They all have self molded sew on shanks. The buttons show red in the black glass under a strong light. They are in good. Unused, antique condition, having some old pressed glass/molded marks and they may have slight loss where they came out of their molds. The buttons all look nice and would look fine on a garment. These buttons are older vest. Dress, or shirt buttons. I removed these buttons from a disintegrating button card marked Czechoslovakia on the bottom. They were most likely made in Bohemia/Czech glass houses in the late 19th or early 20th century. They would make a nice addition to anyone's antique button collection.
