These(2) unique LUCITE Buttons have a very unusual shape& they are large.which makes me think they were used for decoration on clothing rather than to fasten with. But I truly do not know. I do know they are WONDERFUL. They have slanted sides, abstract. They are indeed old& have been used so they have surface wear. But because of there size. Set/21 Antique Vegetable Ivory? Buttons Round Incised Coat Suit Edwardian
Here's a lovely set of buttons! I believe these are vegetable ivory. You can see striations on the back of several. The top is incised with a with a round cut that follows the edge. These look like they would have gone on an Edwardian or WW1 era suit. I do not know the exact age. These buttons measure about 6/10 inch across. I've taken photos with and without a flash. Gorgeous set of antique buttons in a wonderful Art Nouveau style. Each is steel(sticks to a magnet) and has a center motif of a 5 pointed leaf type design. The pierced metal around the button has slots and showing thru is a mirror or glass. Very shiny and reflective. The pierced metal slats, also have a lovely scroll design. O rnate!
