2 Vint Victorian Black Glass Buttons, faceted edge w/Lace Flower design inside
2 Vintage Victorian Black Glass Button Charm- Cut-Faceted Edge/ Lace Flower Design You are bidding on a vintage two 1920's Round Shaped Black Victorian Buttons that were placed on a vintage charm bracelet. Both glass buttons are a matched set. The buttons have a cut/ etched border surrounding what looks like a raised Lace Flower motif in the center. There is an embedded brass loop in the center back of each of these buttons that would attach them to clothing. Or in this case they were found on a Victorian charm bracelet. The buttons are in excellent condition on the front without damage. There are a few tiny flea bite chips seen primarily through a jewelers loop on one button on the back and along the back edge, none of which would be seen if placed on a piece of clothing. These would be a great gift for anyone who appreciates vintage ... morefindings, or placed on your own charm bracelet as these glass buttons are very old and in excellent condition. The brass loop is well secured into the center of each on the backside. These black glass buttons are difficult to find in such excellent condition, and make facinating charms when placed with other vintage charms. These button/ charms were found on a bracelet in my Great Aunts Sewing cabinet which I received from her estate. She had several charm bracelets, and these two buttons were on one of her bracelets. I found another matching button and have decided to sell both together as they look superb. The button/ charms in the photos above measure 5/8" in diameter. By 3/16" deep not including the back loop. I do not polish or clean the charms or bracelets I sell on Ebay, leaving that decision to the buyer. This is a lovely set of button charms made from vintage rare black glass buttons and is quite unique. 24 Old Faceted Black Glass Buttons Original Card Austria These beautiful faceted black glass buttons are just over 1/2 inch in diameter They are still on the original card(I took one off to photograph) which gives the maker a Mode du Four and states that they were make in Austria. Black glass buttons were used for mourning clothing in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. But they were also made well into the 20th century. I have not been able to trace the maker. I don't use modern. Cheap plastic, filler buttons. All of the buttons that I use are generally from the 1800's through1950's. I try never to"harm" a button. I devise creative ways of using these treasured keepsakes without ... moregluing or harming them in any way. Only gluing buttons, or removing shanks if they were damaged when I received them. And when I do use glue. You won't find'globs' or'strings' of glue on my vintage button creations. I do not use a hot glue gun and mass produce. I use only the finest jewelers' adhesives. And take my time designing just the right piece. In some of my creations I also use vintage jewelry parts. Stampings and findings. Again, nothing modern is used. Several pieces have 14K gold or sterling silver chains. A good portion of my vintage brass findings were obtained from a woman who purchased them years and years ago from a vintage costume jewelry manufacturer who had gone out of business. These gorgeous brass findings had been sitting in their warehouse for years before being bought. They are vintage. And yet they are unused. Most of the findings are from the 1940's and 1950's. Because I only use vintage or antique buttons. They may show wear and age. This is expected from something that is 60-100 years old. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind original. Diminutive size glass buttons on the front. They are faceted glass front with a tiny metal loop on the back. It looks to be inserted in the back. I did not want to remove them so I can't get a photo of the back. The buttons are each in very good condition with no chips or flaws. Here is a nice lot of XL faceted buttons. Please see the photos for the best description of the lot. I had some trouble capturing how pretty these are in person. They are all quite large. And all have different types of facets. The shanks date them as Victorian or later 19th century. Please note that there are some flea bites to edges, mainly on the bottoms of the buttons. There is some light scratching and the button on the lower left side of the photos shows a small pit in the top. A few clear, a clear buckle, faceted Victorian black balls saved together on a safety pin, 2 Black glass hearts with painted flowers, 2 sets of silver overlay on black glass, steel cut brass filigree set, carved abalone with steel cut and a wonderful black charm string with black glass and silver top, a nice gathering from several estates and special styles. Some of the Victorian carved have designs on them such as a thick one with cherries, Bell flowers or lily of the valley, a butterfly and other designs, etc. Most are in good condition with expected wear for age, the one with the rhinestone has a definite chip, but most are good with expected age attestations. Matching set of 9 antique pressed/molded black amethyst glass faceted oval buttons that measure approximately 1/2" long x just under 1/4" wide. They all have self molded sew on shanks. The buttons show red in the black glass under a strong light. They are in good. Unused, antique condition, having some old pressed glass/molded marks and they may have slight loss where they came out of their molds. The buttons all look nice and would look fine on a garment. These buttons are older vest. Dress, or shirt buttons. I removed these buttons from a disintegrating button card marked Czechoslovakia on the bottom. They were most likely made in Bohemia/Czech glass houses in the late 19th or early 20th century. They would make a nice addition to anyone's antique button collection.
