These buttons were on a card and she identified them as livery buttons or buttons that were used on uniforms. These buttons she said were made by Firmin and Sons of London. I purchased these buttons at auction. The buttons were excavated in a dig in the 1800's. They are as excavated as I do not have the expertise to restore them. I will leave that to their new owner. Any serious antique button collector should enjoy researching these pieces of history.

Antique brass. Tin and pewter buttons with glass and fabric embellishments. The crescent moon perfume button is a screened cut-out with copper behind a fabric weave that is meant to hold a perfume scent-early 1800's. The star button has three layers of metal in intricate detailed metal work on top of a silver-plated base. The etched scroll button has black glass"beads" embedded in the top. There are two red pewter buttons with beautiful metal flower designs. All 6 are approx. 7/8" diameter buttons with loop shanks and all are in excellent antique condition.

One has a slightly larger. thicker) center spoke, though they are all almost identical in design. All have numerous tiny chips to the points on the center spokes, which is perhaps why the maker decided to make the last one slightly thicker? This does not detract from their beauty and is so small as to not even show up in these ... morehighly magnified photo's, but is mentioned for accuracy. All also show tiny flea bits to the outer rim. These buttons remain quite beautiful regardless, with their fancy double rows of scalloped"windows" and the detailed multi point star inner spoke. This item was in my grandparents estate. Lot of 6 Antique Hand Made Bone Buttons 1800's Civil War Era Free Shipping
I found a box of dusty old buttons in a home we were cleaning out. The little cardboard box was falling to one side and there was a long string with a piece of wire tied to the end. The buttons were strung half way up on the string and among them were little pieces of red glass balls. It was obviously a little necklace started by a child in another time. These are what is left of all those buttons. I believe they have never been used; just lovingly played with. Approx size is 1/2" or 12mm. Every button varies in color. Shape and texture as they are all hand made. Please look at all the pictures closely as they are part of the description and ask questions prior to purchase. Always happy to send along an extra button just for matching purposes. Buttons arrive in a regular stamped envelope.
