Antique Nice Set(18)Petit 5/8" Buttons/Pierced Brass/Steel Cut/Floral/Loop Shank
Happy to offer these exquisite examples of well made AND beautiful vintage. I have dated these c. mid 1800's based on the design and materials. These sweet little brass buttons measure 5/8" Diameter. They are a single layer. Openwork dome with a dimensional floral motif. Each features 8 facet cut steel gems, creating sparkling beauty despite some tarnish. There is a total of 18 buttons. Including 2 which are bent(one of these is missing a steel cut) and 1 other which is only missing a steel cut. Please examine photos carefully for condition and features. These gorgeous brass findings had been sitting in their warehouse for years before being bought. They are vintage. And yet they are unused. Most of the findings are from the 1940's and 1950's. Because I only use vintage or antique buttons. They may show wear and age. This is expected from something that is 60-100 years old. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind original. Antique Victorian enamel button 1 3/8" dia. gilded brass pierced star cut steel
This antique enamel button measures 1 3/8" diameter. It resembles Cloisonne. But the pattern is stamped rather than applied. The separate sections are colored with enamel, with red predominating, highlighted with navy blue, aqua and green. The pierced five pointed star is probably stamped out of the brass although it resembles filigree. The brass has been lightly gilded and although it looks pretty good, under the loupe, it does have some darkening and some small losses. The cut steel decoration in the center is slightly rusted and very little shine remains. The back is unmarked; the shank is a simple loop of gilded brass.
