Description: This listing is for a ... moreChippendale Period Slant Front Desk circa 1770-80. Salem Massachusetts, in the manner of John Chipman(b. 1746-1819) It features solid Cuban Mahogany case, each side crafted of a single solid plank, through-dovetailed at the top and dovetailed at the bottom. The slant front lid features an original keyhole escutcheon over what appears to be the original brass lock, falling onto arms that slide out with brass knobs- one original, the left one replaced. The open writing surface is clean, with what appear to be two original brass hinges, though curious patching is noted below flaking each hinge. Above the writing surface is a collection of nine small drawers, the centermost shell carved, each with brass knobs, below which a gallery of six pigeon holes rest in perfect symmetry. The case has four graduated drawers. Each of which feature period bail pull brass hardware flanking a replaced lock with original brass keyhole escutcheon. The drawers are hand dovetailed front and back, the front dovetails hidden behind applied cockbead molding. The drawers are yellow pine secondaries, the bottom being deeply chamfered along the perimeter to rabbet into the frame. They slide easily in and out of the case over replaced drawer runners, the drawer dividers running into the sides behind a mahogany facade, effectively hiding what are probably dovetail joints. The back of the case has all original backboards, though many nails are replaced. The molded apron features a carved shell drop down medallion in the center that mirrors the design of the middle drawer. The case rests over scroll cut bracket feet, each with an incredible flowing design in the manner of John Chipman. We do not believe the desk was executed in the shop of John Chipman. As his cases will typically feature exposed dovetail drawer dividers in the Newport manner, and the pidgeon-hole gallery will regularly featur

This cabinet was surely made for a specific place in an old home and now it is ready for a new home! Construction is all mortise and tenon and pegged except for the rear boards are tongue and groove.with 1" by 10" heart pine boards and what appear to be rosehead nails. These back boards are continuously the same board from the top to the bottom of the cabinet. It would date back to the late 1800's and this stately piece is unusual because it steps back with a nice ledge and has 3 drawers. the surface is old white paint with the doors shabby craped down to the older green color. It really has a great LOOK! I like it with the doors open for displaying my collectibles. It is 77.5" tall x 50" wide at that middle shelf. The shelf is 9.5" out which is more than most stepback cupboards. At that area it is 22" out from the wall. It has been used as you can see with a mouse hole here and there. We have enjoyed this cabine for over 40 years. Now it's time for new owners to step forward. Dimensions are 80 in tall as shown in first photo. It is 20 in deep at the lower section and 13 in deep at the upper section. It is 51 in wide. Pine is the primary wood with oak wainscotting on the back. It has had some restoration with like antique oak wainscotting board for the repair. You will need a pick up truck or van to carry it. American Pine Jelly Cupboard. Pennsylvania Probably Lehigh Valley or Lancaster County. C. 1820-40 Item# 130102WPP16 This is a simply gorgeous Early American Pennsylvania Pine Jelly Cupboard crafted during the second quarter of the 19th Century. While a good quantity cabinets and cupboards of the period survive. This piece is characterized by the best of Pennsylvania craftsmanship. Featuring a single solid board of pine on the top, dovetailed along the edges with exposed joints to the sides of the case, the molding around the top is of unusually good quality. Tightly carved and pinned to the case at equal intervals, it projects over the overall square form embellished with multiple layers of molding and tight incised scratched-beading. The triple-paneled door is a work of art. Each panel deeply chamfered on the interior and set into rabbet ... morecuts in the frame. The entire frame of the door features pegged through-tenon-mortise construction, allowing the wood to easily expand and contract while maintaining control over the structure; the door swings freely on original forged iron hinges. The lock is absent and a later bracket was installed on the door to assist in keeping the cabinet closed, the round wooden knob above the keyhole likely also an addition. The sides of the case are solid planks of pine from top to bottom. The outermost backboards finished on the edges to become part of the case sides, also continuing down into full rear feet. The backboards run vertical to the case, each being tacked with neat even rows of large square forged iron nails. The interior of the case is a somewhat graduated shelved space, the full length solid planks creating outstanding depth to the cupboard. This form of cupboard is incredibly utilitarian in any home of matching decor. Easily utilized in any room: a display cabinet in the living room, a very easily accessibly chest of drawers in the bedroom, a linens and towel cabinet in the guest bedroom or dressing room and as a cupboard for the fine china in the dining room. Small Pine Corner Cupboard Pegged Chamfered Panels Burke County North Carolina
Old corner cupboard. Most likely from burke or caldwell county North Carolina, made from early southern yellow pine, all hand planed and chamfered, and pegged. The outside is nice, the inside is partially painted and could use some tlc.The inside is kind of rough in places, and would need a few nails or something to tighten or support the shelves a little better. The shelves are pieced, and a couple of the small, very back corner pieces are looser, and could use a nail or two, I just hate to add, or take away anything from original condition. the plate racks seem to be original, as they are attached with square nails, as the rest of the cupboard is. This is a very sweet, small cupboard in great proportions, and would fit it many smaller kitchens, pantries, even mobile homes, or areas with 7 foot ceilings, etc. I believe this to be mostly ... moreall original, except for the finish. Up for Auction Beautiful. Practical, Antique"Linen Cabinet" 1885 I purchased this beautiful antique from a very reputable antique dealer in San Francisco in the 1980's. It's original purpose was to store linens. But I took the top shelf out in order to store and hide my TV. Since the rest of my furniture were antiques this was perfect. Now that I have moved into a smaller house, and TV's are no longer big and thick, I do not have room for this lovely piece. It is way to big for the small rooms in my 1890's home. If my memory is correct. I believe it was made about 1885. I think it is American, but do not know. Everything is original to the best of my knowledge and has never been refinished, at least while I have owned it. I think the wood is pine and stained to look like walnut. It truly is a beautiful piece of furniture ... moreregardless of the kind of wood it is made of. The cabinet is in two pieces, with the top shelf lifting off the drawers. There are the usual signs of wear which give it character and signifies it's use and age. The drawers are tongue and groove and the closing latches made of wood which turn to close the top cupboards. Formerly a dresser base, having a pistachio green over rhubarb stained and painted finish and original metal scalloped cup handles, the carcass comprising of a moulded rectangular top above an arrangement of eight drawers and central cupboard comprising two frieze drawers and central cupboard door flanked by two banks of two short drawers to a plinth base survives from the latter part of the nineteenth century. The cupboard shows some rather attractive wear and tear ... morewith scuffing commensurate with its age. The paintwork more worn in some places than others, though not contrived and of a desirable appearance. The sides and top remain stained, with the front painted. Structurally she is very sound and all her handles are original and the draws all run smooth. The lock does not work but the lower door lock is operational. Two separate pieces for easier moving, square nails are visible on the rough sawn back. Georgian Country Pine 1800's Corner Cupboard. An authentic late Georgian period corner cupboard dates from the early 1800's. Classical dentil molding and fluted pilasters are hand carved in pine. Doors have raised panels and carved wooden pegs at the joints. The curved back is wainscoting. Held with hand wrought nails. The exterior finish is very good with traces of old paint. This is a great diminutive hanging corner cabinet with kind of a folk art look. It is solid pine with nice old thick and decorative mahogany veneer. There are several shelves inside which will make for excellent corner storage. There is a geometric design to the paneled door as well as an inlaid wood escutcheon. The drawer is hand dovetailed and chamfered. Although there is only one drawer. It appears to have three due to the three original wooden pulls or knobs. the top is pine as are the rear boards. One of the rear pine boards is very wide at 17" There are new hanging brackets on the back at the top. At some point a block was added so that this cabinet could also be a freestanding unit. It does retain the original lockset and key. It originated from England or northern Europe and was built around the middle of the 19 th century. I had it wall-mounted in my living room for many years. But have since downsized. I love this 1880s pine medicine chest and hate to give it up! It measures 24” tall x 15” wide x 7” deep. I’ve often wondered if it is a salesman sample of an amoire? Regardless. It’s a perfect for a country style home! The condition is evident in the photos. There are a few tiny blacks spots on the mirror that attests to it being the original beveled glass(can’t see in the photos) The big blotch at the upper right hand corner of the mirror is a reflection in the photo. Antique Primitive Pine 4 Door wavy glass Cabinet Hutch Cupboard french country
removed from american foursquare built around 1905. It appears that builder used this original cupboard for parts when house was built. I was in the process of gutting the kitchen and installing new sink and cabinets and kinda discovered the bottom half of the piece had been used for the original sink area. It appears that over the years a number of counters had replaced the original top and bottom half framed in with sheetrock. The top glass cabinet was anchored to the wall and had the original 3 coat plaster around it. I managed to find as much of the original pieces as I could and put the bottom back together with the exception of the top. I used yellow pine salvaged from the house to rip the new top. The top glass portion is 100% original and nothing has been done other than clean and lightly sand the pine to remove old plaster. The piece ... moreis huge, it is 8' 4" long and 7' tall. Top cabinet is 13" deep. Bottom is 23" deep. The weight of the item is around 600 to 800 pounds. All glass appears to be original wavy. This is a fantastic cupboard. I would estimate the original age to be in the 1800's but I won't hazard a guess at which decade. There have been shelves added over time and a little extra crown molding up top. It measures 74 1/2" tall. 35" wide and 12" deep. The case has been reinforced with extra screws and nails and this stands straight and sturdy. It has marks that would be expected from dings and dents as well as some loss on the bottom from previous moisture issues, and I might have seen some old worm holes too. Local pick up is preferred. This is a 1780's to 1820's Shaker Style. Pine Cupboard Dry Sink with a dovetailed gallery, drawers, and top case in great condition for the age. Has nice hand forged hinges, hook, bottom latch, drawer pulls. All wooden pegged doors. Wide board back, sides, top, and bottom, some rot at the very bottom of the back boards, and some repairs to the bottom and back to add support to the cupboard. A newer shelf in the bottom part only, the rest of the boards looks original to the piece. This is an unusual. Early American, 19th century primitive cupboard, we are assuming it is entirely made of solid pine. Great lines with minimal ornamentation, this functional piece has wonderful hand hewn columns in front which are its main distinguishing element. Cupboard has two doors below, a drop down space in the center, and then, an unlikey hinged top section which opens up. Please view all photos and ask any questions you may have before bidding. Cabinet measures 46" tall by 44 1/2" wide by 19" deep. The top lid section which opens up reveals a compartment about 4 1/4" deep. This hinged section/panel is about 11" deep. A Christmas Cupboard! It may have been used to store jellies or pies once upon a time. But today it can be used for whatever your pleasure. PAINTED with(original) pine green paint, this is a small and very narrow primitive pine cupboard that hails from the back country near Aiken. SC. Likely late 1800s-early 1900s. The entire cupboard is painted green, including the back. Crude in construction using old flathead nails, it is extremely sturdy. It has cute clothespin legs and two interior shelves(3 spaces) for storing crocks, dishes, bake ware, books, etc. The top pieces(see photo) appear as if they may have been tongue and groove pine floor boards at one time. I originally inherited this piece from my mother who had it in her home in New Jersey All Original Pine/Fir with original brass locks and fittings. Recently appraised for $1.200 by Charles& Charles Antiques on Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles Working lock with original key. There are 3 Pine Shelves that can be inserted at any desired height of your choice by inserting the wooden supports at the sides. There are 2 slide locks on the left side which are also original. One slide lock is at the top and one is at the bottom(I photographed the bottom lock and the hole it slides into) The three window panes are secured with handmade supports(if you need a photo of this I can send one)I used the cabinet for dishes but it also makes a great ... morebook cabinet. Measures 45" across the top including the cornice and 25.5" high, it's 11.25" deep back to front of top shelf and the cupboard itself is 9.25" deep. The interior has one shelf that is 7.5" deep. Under the shelf are hooks for hanging cups. All square nails visable on the back of the cupboard. The top board has a very small amount of warpage but isn't that noticeable. This 200 year old cupboard was once a hanging cupboard. It was used in the past as a purely decorative piece. It was excellently cared for and would look handsome as a hanging wall cupboard again. It is very heavy with these solid thick pine boards. So if you decide to hang it, it will need to be supported properly. The hinges are all original. As are the two latches on the doors. This cornice has the worst of the aging on the piece. There are dings and small damage spots across the entire cornice. We have included a close up of the worst area.
