I think they might have been meant for holding it to a wall or something like that because no damage can be appreciated. I do not think they are repairs, so they can be taken off if desired. on the same side. You can see a lot of bug holes: i am not sure what they are, but they are not new. Old. 1890s-1900 Ohio-Made Large JELLY CUPBOARD WITH COPPER LINED CROCK/BUCKET WELL. Old. Brown varnish, very worn. WOOD is very thick. Approx 1" thick around Body of Cupboard. COPPER WELL: Lining covers Bottom. Back, sides and front of Well, and does have SPOTTY VERDIGRIS, a darkened look, and some WRINKLING along side curved ends. One hole, see pix. DOUBLE DOOR. For your consideration I have a very nice primitive One Door Cupboard. The paint is original and shows a mustard over a red. This is mid 1800s or earlier. In picture#6 I try to show one of the square nails used in the construction of the piece. In picture#8 I show the old wood handle door knob. The door has a little sag but I left it as found. There 4 bun feet but they have been replaced. It measures about 41 1/2" Across the Front and 14" Deep and 39 1/2" Tall. The finish has been waxed and polished and needs only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth to maintain its glowing luster. But it has to be from early 1900's at least. Small cabinet. More likely for jelly than a pie. The front door is made of punched tin. The rest of the cabinet is wood. Inside are shelves that are fixed. Outer measurements are 16 1/8" wide by 16 1/4" tall by 8 1/2" deep. Inside is 11 1/2" wide by 13" tall by 6 1/2" deep. Shelves have varied space in height.

Primitive, Pine Cupboard Step Back Antique Early American Jelly Cabinet Pantry
This practical country cupboard is a product of early America. Possibly Pennsylvania, having been crafted in the last half of the 19th century. A solid, one piece cabinet, constructed in Pine with a shaped cornice. The upper section is set back, commonly referred to as a stepback, with three shelves behind paneled doors over a large horizontal working surface. With a paneled back. The lower section one shelf behind two paneled doors. Overall. The condition is good. With the expected indentations, scrapes, and other minor cosmetic defects that are associated with antique pine pieces. The construction is solid and the joints are tight. LARGE VERY ORNATE ANTIQUE JELLY CUPBOARD WALNUT BACK SPLASH
Here is a beautiful antique back splash that came off a jelly cupboard. The jelly cupboard set on a dirt floor in a farm basement for many years and was beyond repair but this back splash is nice other than some normal wear, its end point on its left side has a small piece off its tip and a small piece of molding missing from its right side below the ginger bread plus notice the ginger bread there also has a few cracks but all is nice and tight and I added close ups of those. This measures long across its base 45 inches then from its base to its top is 14 3/8 inches and it has beautiful patina. Up for sale is anther great find from our grandparents 200 year old Indiana Farm Estate. We would love to keep this great piece. But need to make room for the next generations, so it is time for it to find a new home. This piece(not sure if it is considered a pie safe or china cabinet) belonged to our great grandparents, and may have been in the family longer, but we have photos of it in their farm house from the very early 1900's. I tried to upload some of these photos, but due to their age and point of deterioration, was unable to. This cabinet can be moved in two pieces. The piece is in amazing condition for its age. The only issue I could find with it is that it looks like one of the wavy glass panels has been replaced, but may have just been re-secured as it matches the other glass panels(see photo 10) The punched tins on the bottom ... moreare in amazing condition, and original to the piece.
