Possibly composed of 19th Century Elements Item# 130009TLM23 In two parts. This French Empire Style Mahogany Vitrine(or Cabinet) is striking in every way. A piece that is more aimed at the decorator over the collector, being at least somewhat adjusted with 19th century elements, it is a very convenient form with fine proportions. Not being overwhelming in any way, the highly appropriate depth and form work to repress the natural glamor of the form. Years of enjoyment in a bright room have mellowed the mahogany into a nearly cognac tone, the warm brown-red of the grains perfectly complimented by the naturalistic burlap backing inside of the glass cabinet- ... morenoteworthy and of great charm is the original pane of glass still retained in the door; the light rippled surface of hand blown glass is unmatched by modern craftsmanship and adds immeasurably to the nostalgia of these pieces. Mounted with medium-fine cast gilt bronze embellishments of neoclassical influence. There is a refinement about the overall form that is very striking. The construction is true to the period, the backboards chamfered along their edges to rest in the mitered stiles. While the top is lacking shelves, the"notched" system for the shelves runs along either side to readily accept new glass or wood shelves if you choose to have some crafted. We are pleased to offer this fabulous. Old credenza. This is a gorgeous cabinet with French, Louis XV style. The credenza features a combination of Rosewood and Mahogany veneer with an abundance of intricate, inlaid patterns. The veneer has rich and vibrant colors. The cabinet is also heavily adorned with bronze mounts. There are two busts of a female figure, one on each side of the cabinet front. Each bust is supported by an inlaid, striped column and finished with Corinthian style, bronze bases. There are large, square, bronze floral medallions that adorn the cabinet. Bronze trim is applied around the perimeter on the upper section. It is also present on the perimeter of the base. The bun feet have bronze rings that encircle their mid sections. The cabinet has an upper, large single drawer and a large interior lower storage. The storage ... morearea has a single shelf. The drawer and the shelf are Rosewood. The door has metal dowels that hold it in place and allow it to swing open. These are not original and are from the 20th century. The cabinet exterior has intricate inlaid designs on each side panel, on the sides of the front of the cabinet, and on the front of the cabinet door. The top of the cabinet has a beautiful piece of black marble which has been cut to match the geometric shape of the cabinet top. The marble has white veins as well as few red veins. This is a very old piece. It consists of 3 sections(not including the marble) Both the top and the plinth connect to the center of the cabinet via crudely cut wooden dowels. There are no screws. There are more modern metal supports that have been added at some point. The back of the cabinet features hand chiseled dovetail joints. As does the drawer. The cabinet has bronze/brass door and drawer pulls that may not be original. This is a gorgeous cabinet of some antiquity. It is in good condition for its age. RARE MINIATURE ITALIAN FRUITWOOD TABLE CABINET. C. 1840, TULIPWOOD INLAY, GILT BRONZE MOUNTS, SECRET BANK OF DRAWERS AND CONCEALED LOCKING MECHANISM This beautiful piece is worthy of any sophisticated collection of miniature furniture and sure to be a focal point of conversation in your home or office. It is a rare and unusual miniature Italian fruitwood table cabinet with tulipwood inlay. The piece dates to approximately 1840 and measures 18"w x 8-¾"d x 14"h. The top is elevated in the center and steps down on each side. The center of the top has a single short drawer with string inlay. This sits above a panel inlaid with an elaborate star which stands on one point on an inlaid two-tiered stand down base. This central revolves to reveal a secret bank of three short drawers. The revolving section is flanked on both sides ... moreby two short drawers with string inlay. All over three short drawers. The middle of these bottom three drawers has an elaborate gilt bronze escutcheon and brass lock. The sides of the cabinet are inlaid with obelisks. The piece stands on square tapered feet. In addition to the lock mentioned above, the piece also has an unusual hidden locking mechanism. When the bottom center drawer is taken out, there is a sliding peg on each side of the opening. Each peg moves up and down to lock the outside set of drawers on that peg's side of the cabinet. CONDITION: The piece has the expected minor dings. Tiny scratches and rubbing to the finish. One leg has been restored. Otherwise, it is in very good condition, especially considering its age and use.
