An absolutely stunning corner vitrine. We are pleased to bring this piece back to the market. You are looking at a diminutive flemish art burnt wood corner cabinet. This is a 2 tier velvet lined case with a glass shelf and a glass front door. It has an A shaped frame and an architectural boxed gallery. There is a lower tier shelf as well. The cabinet stands on three legs that are covered and carved with burnt wood decorations that include: winged angels. Putty with garlands, griffins and lilies of the field. This piece measures 62.5" x 19" x 15" It is signed R.A. Weed and dated 1898. This piece does have decorative wear and imperfections including losses to the finish. Due to the age this is to be expected. There are some small age related cracks in the wood as well. It measures 52" wide. 45.5" tall and 14.5" deep(132.1 cm by 115.6 cm by 36.8 cm) Condition is very good. The mounts were recently removed and thoroughly cleaned. The finish is original and shows modest wear in spots, consistent with age. The interior is fitted with a single glass shelf and lower shelf with red satin upholstery. This is an extremely high quality piece recently found in an old Boston area estate where it has probably sat since new. We believe this piece was probably made by R J Horner in New York but unfortunately is unlabeled. It retains an original finish with original gold leaf on carved wood trim(not gesso) All the carving is real not gesso. Even the back boards are solid mahogany and have an original and beautiful mahogany finish on them. The glass shelves are missing but the matching top mirror frame was found in the attic with broken glass and missing its back board. A new mirror and backboard have been installed at some point. Being offered for sale is this Outstanding Federal Mahogany Vitrine Cabinet with Inlay& Chimney Backsplash circa 1830. This fine early 19th century vitrine features rich mahogany and crotch mahogany. Gorgeous inlay and a shaped chimney backsplash. We believe this cabinet to have its original wavy glass on the doors and offers period hand-cut dove-tailed ends on the drawers. This vitrine cabinet measures 50 1/2 inches in height from the floor to the top of the backsplash. 42 inches high to the front, 41 1/2 inches wide and 20 1/2 inches deeps and this piece weighs approximately 110 lbs. This cabinet is solid and tight and has a beautiful presence. The locks are intact on the drawers but missing on the cabinet door. They key provided just aids in opening the doors but does not work the locks. The three scenes at the bottom and all the flowers decorating it are hand painted. The Cabinet measures 55 inches high by 26 inches wide by 14 inches deep. Please note the white spot on the right top which is the only defect. Where plaster got on it. I know you'll be happy with it. This Curio cabinet belonged to my grandmother. A piece that is more aimed at the decorator over the collector, being at least somewhat adjusted with 19th century elements, it is a very convenient form with fine proportions. Not being overwhelming in any way, the highly appropriate depth and form work to repress the natural glamor of the form. Years of enjoyment in a bright room have mellowed the mahogany into a nearly cognac tone, the warm brown-red of the grains perfectly complimented by the naturalistic burlap backing inside of the glass cabinet- ... morenoteworthy and of great charm is the original pane of glass still retained in the door; the light rippled surface of hand blown glass is unmatched by modern craftsmanship and adds immeasurably to the nostalgia of these pieces. Mounted with medium-fine cast gilt bronze embellishments of neoclassical influence. There is a refinement about the overall form that is very striking. The construction is true to the period, the backboards chamfered along their edges to rest in the mitered stiles. While the top is lacking shelves, the"notched" system for the shelves runs along either side to readily accept new glass or wood shelves if you choose to have some crafted. The base has a single shelf, again using the notched track for customizable heights. While it has some flaws. Mostly confined to the veneer loss around the bottom of the base and the bit of weakness in the front piece of the apron, this is a difficult form to come upon preserved with this warm surface. The case is carved with acanthus leaves and masks throughout and is raised on cabriole legs. The height is 55 1/4 inches tall. 26 1/2 inches wide and 13 1/2 inches deep. There is some wear to the paint on the top surface and a few small pieces of gesso are missing from the bottom sides. Overall, the piece has an excellent original finish. This is a stunning Antique. 19th Century Venetian Paint Decorated Vitrine or Reliquary Cabinet. This piece has such a great look and interesting shape.the glass door and side panels are dome topped, there is wonderful carving elements on the sides, the interior and two removable shelves are covered in old Fortuni fabric. a great piece, whether placed on a table top or hung on a wall for a display of decorative items. Cabinet measures approximately 42 1/2" tall by 31" at its widest. At the back. and 17 3/4" at its deepest. Condition is time worn. Distressed. The painted surface has numerous areas of paint loss throughout the entire piece. There is some repainting which is not original to the piece, this can be seen clearly in the photos. The Fortuni fabric on the shelves and the interior is distressed and stained. the back panel ... moreof the piece is not original, it appears to be a piece of masonite. The front door glass has a crack which runs its entire length. There are cracks in the body of the cabinet and missing molding and gaps in the molding. I believe the hand painting is by Vernis Martin- with decorative ormolu as noted in photographs. This mahogany cabinet is in real good condition- of course it is an antique with normal use. It measures 58-1/4" in height- 25-1/2" at widest point- inside depth 13-1/2" outside depth 15-1/2" There is some minor paint specks on top- has single glass shelf- mirrored back and padded bottom insert.
