Wood separations, Sturdy. Very good overall condition, This charming mahogany smokers cabinet was crafted in Victorian England around 1850. The mahogany displays a rich complexion and a highly pronounced grain that have only grown more beautiful with time; the same is true for the exquisite satinwood and ebony inlays that adorn the interior of this piece. The richness of the wood owes to the elaborate finishing process that Victorian cabinetmakers employed in constructing ... moretheir furniture; there were often over a dozen steps in the finishing process. Which ended with a fine, hand-rubbed coat of wax. Not only does the wax enrich and protect the beauty of the wood, but it is easily maintained for long periods of time: waxing a piece just twice a year will keep it looking new indefinitely. This fine Victorian smokers cabinet is certainly an excellent example of how smart craftsmanship can defy the perils of time. It has. However, sustained some wear, including superficial separations in the wood and a number of scuffs. It has also lost a few knobs on the interior drawers; the small, inner door has also warped so that it doesn't fully shut. Neither do the exterior doors lock. However, none of these details detract from the fundamental beauty and convenience of this piece; instead, they only add to its lovely antique charm. Overall condition is therefore very good: whether used for its original purpose, as a jewelry box, or for storing other small items, this smokers cabinet would make a fine addition to any furniture collection! We are pleased to offer this fabulous. Old credenza. This is a gorgeous cabinet with French, Louis XV style. The credenza features a combination of Rosewood and Mahogany veneer with an abundance of intricate, inlaid patterns. The veneer has rich and vibrant colors. The cabinet is also heavily adorned with bronze mounts. There are two busts of a female figure, one on each side of the cabinet front. Each bust is supported by an inlaid, striped column and finished with Corinthian style, bronze bases. There are large, square, bronze floral medallions that adorn the cabinet. Bronze trim is applied around the perimeter on the upper section. It is also present on the perimeter of the base. The bun feet have bronze rings that encircle their mid sections. The cabinet has an upper, large single drawer and a large interior lower storage. The storage ... morearea has a single shelf. The drawer and the shelf are Rosewood. The door has metal dowels that hold it in place and allow it to swing open. These are not original and are from the 20th century. The cabinet exterior has intricate inlaid designs on each side panel, on the sides of the front of the cabinet, and on the front of the cabinet door. The top of the cabinet has a beautiful piece of black marble which has been cut to match the geometric shape of the cabinet top. The marble has white veins as well as few red veins. This is a very old piece. It consists of 3 sections(not including the marble) Both the top and the plinth connect to the center of the cabinet via crudely cut wooden dowels. There are no screws. There are more modern metal supports that have been added at some point. The back of the cabinet features hand chiseled dovetail joints. As does the drawer. The cabinet has bronze/brass door and drawer pulls that may not be original. This is a gorgeous cabinet of some antiquity. It is in good condition for its age. I believe all of it is in its original form and finish since it has not been outside the family and was purchased in Boston by my grandparents. I would guess this is Mahogany with a lighter wood for the inlay. It is in excellent estate condition with all the glass intact. All of the inlay is intact. As well. The inlay extends all around the front door and sides of the cabinet. There are two 1/4" thick glass shelves inside that are curved along the front and a mirror that extends the entire back of the case. The glass front door is also curved.
