Sturdy. It has paints chips and scratches. It looks very cool the way it is. But you can strip and put a new coat of paint on it. I think that current paint is original paint. One of the shelves has a whole. I think it is original to the wood it was use. On one of the side. It has two boards nailed to it. I think they might have been meant for holding it to a wall or something like that because no damage can be appreciated. I do not think they are repairs, so they can be taken off if desired. on the same side. You can see a lot of bug holes: i am not sure what they are, but they are not new. American Pine Jelly Cupboard. Pennsylvania Probably Lehigh Valley or Lancaster County. C. 1820-40 Item# 130102WPP16 This is a simply gorgeous Early American Pennsylvania Pine Jelly Cupboard crafted during the second quarter of the 19th Century. While a good quantity cabinets and cupboards of the period survive. This piece is characterized by the best of Pennsylvania craftsmanship. Featuring a single solid board of pine on the top, dovetailed along the edges with exposed joints to the sides of the case, the molding around the top is of unusually good quality. Tightly carved and pinned to the case at equal intervals, it projects over the overall square form embellished with multiple layers of molding and tight incised scratched-beading. The triple-paneled door is a work of art. Each panel deeply chamfered on the interior and set into rabbet ... morecuts in the frame. The entire frame of the door features pegged through-tenon-mortise construction, allowing the wood to easily expand and contract while maintaining control over the structure; the door swings freely on original forged iron hinges. The lock is absent and a later bracket was installed on the door to assist in keeping the cabinet closed, the round wooden knob above the keyhole likely also an addition. The sides of the case are solid planks of pine from top to bottom. The outermost backboards finished on the edges to become part of the case sides, also continuing down into full rear feet. The backboards run vertical to the case, each being tacked with neat even rows of large square forged iron nails. The interior of the case is a somewhat graduated shelved space, the full length solid planks creating outstanding depth to the cupboard. This form of cupboard is incredibly utilitarian in any home of matching decor. New England Cherry Antique 1820's Sideboard. Server or Jelly Cupboard. A beautiful 1820's solid cherry sideboard. Server or jelly cupboard was hand crafted by a master country cabinetmaker. Well worn with glowing antique patina. The finish is in very good condition. There are lots of mars and wear for character on the matched curly grain cherry. The finish has been waxed and polished and needs only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth to maintain its glowing luster. a rare smaller size early 19th century primitive jelly cupboard in its original red/ bittersweet wash. ive enjoyed this in my home for years but have replaced its space with something else. two unique things sets this cupboard apart from others. One is its smaller size that is very versatile to fit just about anywhere desired. ive allways loved to collect unique sized primitive pieces. two is the color, the original early stain wash on it borders a orangish red which would be considered bittersweet. this is not your typical barn cupboard but rather a higher end top auction house piece of which I acquired it years ago. even the interior sides and door are original painted and its constructed of all early square nails. its measurements are 37 3/4'h x 24 7/8'w x 14 1/2'd(with knob extension) ive used it as a standing wall cupboard ... morewhich I believe it was originally used as being I see no evidence of it ever being hung although its size would lend itself to do so if desired. lastly its condition it excellent as it was allways a loved piece. guaranteed also that it is a piece that will be loved in its new home.

This is a fantastic cupboard. I would estimate the original age to be in the 1800's but I won't hazard a guess at which decade. There have been shelves added over time and a little extra crown molding up top. It measures 74 1/2" tall. 35" wide and 12" deep. The case has been reinforced with extra screws and nails and this stands straight and sturdy. It has marks that would be expected from dings and dents as well as some loss on the bottom from previous moisture issues, and I might have seen some old worm holes too. Local pick up is preferred. Offered is an genuine antique jelly cabinet from North Carolina. This is a country piece made from poplar and secondary wood is southern yellow pine. It was handmade probably around 1850 to 1890. It shows hand done scribe lines. Old square cut nails, handmade dovetails, chamfered floating panels, hand cut mortise and tenon joints and some of the lumber are very wide, unlike what was available later. I have owned this jelly cabinet for about twenty years. I purchased it in Advance N.C. My guess is that it may have had an upper piece set back on the the top, which allowed the maker to use less than prime lumber on the top. I found it useful for just storing items, which basically is what it was used for originally. So if you want a piece that offers a country look in your new modern home, this could be just the right item. Everything appears ... moreto be original, hinges, door closures, drawer pulls and even an old mouse hole in the back. Powder post beetles made their home in this piece, but I have never seen any since I've owned it. The cabinet is sturdy, holds lots of weight, not flimsy at all. A wonderful example of New England charm. THIS IS NOT A REMAKE FROM RECLAIMED WOOD. I have had this cabinet for about 30 years. It is from Vermont. I do not know its exact age. But it has to be from early 1900's at least. Small cabinet. More likely for jelly than a pie. The front door is made of punched tin. The rest of the cabinet is wood. Inside are shelves that are fixed. Outer measurements are 16 1/8" wide by 16 1/4" tall by 8 1/2" deep. Inside is 11 1/2" wide by 13" tall by 6 1/2" deep. Shelves have varied space in height.

This practical country cupboard is a product of early America. Possibly Pennsylvania, having been crafted in the last half of the 19th century. A solid, one piece cabinet, constructed in Pine with a shaped cornice. The upper section is set back, commonly referred to as a stepback, with three shelves behind paneled doors over a large horizontal working surface. With a paneled back. The lower section one shelf behind two paneled doors. Overall. The condition is good. With the expected indentations, scrapes, and other minor cosmetic defects that are associated with antique pine pieces. The construction is solid and the joints are tight. Stands well and straight so it was made from a trained carpenter for the period but it is very old. Notice rustic back as found. Measures 34 inches wide by 43 inches high and 15.5 inches deep. Has vent holes in front. Left alone but can easily sand down and stain or paint over. Have completely restored but didn't want to touch it. LARGE VERY ORNATE ANTIQUE JELLY CUPBOARD WALNUT BACK SPLASH
Here is a beautiful antique back splash that came off a jelly cupboard. The jelly cupboard set on a dirt floor in a farm basement for many years and was beyond repair but this back splash is nice other than some normal wear, its end point on its left side has a small piece off its tip and a small piece of molding missing from its right side below the ginger bread plus notice the ginger bread there also has a few cracks but all is nice and tight and I added close ups of those. This measures long across its base 45 inches then from its base to its top is 14 3/8 inches and it has beautiful patina.
