The top single draw is adorned with a putti/cupid, the next four draws, in tandem, have floral motifs and each of the three remaining smaller draws, display miniature paintings of estates. Both sides of the upper cabinet are decorated with a motif of musical instruments, ribbons and a book. The cabinet mid section has a narrow pull out, fall front draw, adorned with floral paintings, over bombe doors, with opposing paintings of a man and women, each seated in a bergere and dressed in traditional french attire. Both lower sides of the cabinets depict scenes of fountains in garden/park. The double doors open up to reveal an interior cabinet with one fixed shelf. This is an antique French Vernis Martin painted"music cabinet" This piece is mid-late 19th century(1870s-1890s) and it carries extremely low 518 serial number. This piece is a survivor. But still a lot of antique tor true antiques lover. This is unrestored and worn from over 200 years of usage piece. It preserved a lot of its original features, the beautiful and original ormolu hardware along the beveled edge top, corners, front legs and braided ormolu accents on cabinet doors. It does have original keys however the key is slightly bent. There is one original screw missing from the keyhole cover. Please note the paint condition on each side. The bottom panels are hand oil painted with a peasant courtship scene, or Autumn lanscapes. At top is a cast brass band of draped swags, a pierced brass gallery partially around. The curio wood case is in the original gilt finish. The interior has been painted copper brown over the original gilt surface. A removable wood panel with green velvet cover is over a compartment. There is some wear to the paint on the top surface and a few small pieces of gesso are missing from the bottom sides. Overall, the piece has an excellent original finish. The interior has a full back mirror, two stationary removable glass shelves, and a removable salmon color velvet over wood board. Below that is a storage compartment. It measures 55" tall by 27" wide by 14" deep, the shelves 11" deep at center. Excellent condition: original unworn gilt finish, all original glass panels, mirror, and shelves. The courtship transfer print has flaking to his left. The case wood and legs are without cracks or chips.

There is some color loss/minor scratching to the bottom front scene but the piece stands solid and firm. The velvet and silk have fading, wear, and fraying– especially along the front edge of the roof- due to the door being opened and shut over time. The left side tin panel is slightly bent outwards below the door knob area, and the glass insert tends to slide down out of place because of that.
