It's a heavy piece and the frame looks to be constructed out of second hand hard wood crating boards; the boards are 3/4" thick. There is old paint on it. Looks to be several coats of paint on the front from over the years, none of them new. There is plaster molding trim framing the outside edges of the front and framing the door opening. That's what makes it a"fancy" make do piece) This piece is solid and sturdy. There is light chipping of the paint on the front exposing some of the plaster in the molding. And it's been confirmed as fabulous from all the"ooooh and ahhhh" comments since I brought it home, even from members of my household who arent' into antiques so much. Super nice solid piece. One piece. Back portion is painted a pewter color. Which I believe is original to the piece. I am not an antiques dealer-solely a collector, so I am not an expert on wood. a rare smaller size early 19th century primitive jelly cupboard in its original red/ bittersweet wash. ive enjoyed this in my home for years but have replaced its space with something else. two unique things sets this cupboard apart from others. This is a rare and wonderful examples of days gone by. The cabinet has two doors, one on top and one on the bottom. Just below the middle part and above the lower door there's a nice dovetailed drawer. The cabinet is yellow and green and there's even a little blue showing through on the drawer. The cabinet was probably all green at one point and was painted over yellow. It's a nice soft butter cream yellow. It's got the old hardware and we even have the key! You can see the key in the pictures and the key only works in the bottom door as the lock on the top door is painted over. It has worn spots. Edge wear, scratches and nicks as you'd expect from and item of this age. The drawer ... morebottom is made from more than one piece of wood and they have separated. This is a very interesting.item.It looks like is was an antique chest. It has the original chest lock and dovetailed corners but at some later time was converted into a wall cupboard. not sure What type of chest or box this was used for. It's too big to be a writing or document box and doesn't seem deep enough to be used as a storage chest.When you look at the key hole it is obvious that this was originally constructed to sit on it's side and the keyhole is in the front side.Years later. Someone turned it, added metal hangers in the back along with a small brass knob in the front and 3 shelves and made it into a wall cupboard. It has an original antique painted finish that is dark red and has a very nice patina and antique look. There is an Eastlake style drawer pull that had been placed on the side and over the keyhole. Turning the item back into a box only requires removing the drawer pull and putting an escutcheon over the keyhole then removing the 3 inside shelves the hangers and small knob. Up for consideration is a fine American Mid 19th Century Pine Probably Pennsylvania Corner Cupboard in original paint. It stands 90 inches tall by 48 inches wide by 26 inches deep. The piece has wonderful textured crackle and alligatoring finish.which is 100% original. The piece is strikingly Neoclassical and Architectural in form. It has Gothic arch type design doors with classic fluted carved columns. There is some scratches to the paint and light overall wear. The cupboard has some bluish green type stenciling outlining the outer lines. There are also some strategically placed Green leafs with possibly Grapes and Plums in the middle of the door panels. This antique cabinet was used as a kitchen cabinet to store food. This cabinet has the original wire mesh or screen on the upper portion that would have kept food safe. While allowing air to circulate and keep it fresh. The original painted surface on the cabinet is very vibrant. A combination of combing and sponging was done in what appears to be a mustard over pumpkin. Fabulous patina. We have owned this old Cupboard for over thirty years. And have enjoyed having it every day. No matter what corner you hang it in, the whole room will come alive(not difficult to hang) We moved it twice- first time, from our Victorian Home, and second time to a newer home. Both times, Cupboard(triangular shape) fit perfectly in the corner of the room(should fit all standard rooms) We purchased at an Estate Sale in Sewickley, PA decades ago, and I can still remember the owner(quite old) not wanting to part with it. She had fallen in love with the delicate hues of the Milk Paint, which is a pinkish-gray on the front and a different color(bluish-gray) inside the cabinet. I feel the same today. It is very hard to describe these shades of pink-blue-gray, and the photos have not quite captured it. But that is the mystery of old Milk Paint, which ... morewas also made by hand. 18-19th c. Antique originl painted paint salmon Cupboard Cabinet furniture legs
Rare set of 4 original salmon colored painted legs. I picked these up at a Ne England Barn sale years ago. I have no idea what they originally came off of. I suspect a cupboard for height. Doorway or stair restrictions. They were removed carefully without any damage. I see many early cupboards that may have had legs at one point and many that do are damaged. For those who have that old cupboard with the door so low its basically on the floor, these are for you. Structurally sound and great patina they only try to duplicate these days. Please see pictures for condition. There are remnants of old square or forged nails and are handmade for sure. The legs are approx. 7" long with the connecting part adding another 4 3/4" totaling 11 3/4" long by 3" at the to dia. I will ship these USPS priority medium flat rate box.
