LIGHTING Fine American Federal Inlaid Walnut Corner ... moreCupboard Possibly Shenandoah Valley Virginia or Pennsylvania c. 1800-20 With unusual thin scrolled Broken Arch Pediment with Pinwheel Inlay Item# 130311YPP03 This is an outstanding American Federal Corner Cabinet of either Pennsylvania or Southern origin with ties to related forms in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The broken-arch pediment is striking and unusual. The thin arms lifting from the molded top in a cresting wave, curling into fine inlaid pinwheel rosettes; these opposing waves of the pediment flank a fine inlaid pointed urn finial raised on a plinth base of conforming inlay. The arched door is crafted with through-tenon joinery, the fragile corners supported with butterfly dovetails on the inside(possibly later) it features twelve glazed panels framed in scratched-bead walnut astragals, opening on original hinges to reveal a shelved interior. Each shelf is channeled to display plates and platters, the front edge of each shelf molded, one shelf crafted to hold utensils in the front edge. The case has outstanding proportions. These eased by the thick molding around the waist and the inlaid band around the shoulders- this easily divides the visual planes of the piece into graduated levels that are easier for the eye to digest. The bottom of the case has a pair of solid walnut doors framed in a matching inlaid band, each embellished with inlaid shield escutcheons to match the arched door, these opening to reveal a shelved interior. The entire case rests over original bracket feet. The construction of the case is very fine. The pair of stiles on either side of the case joined in some kind of hidden dovetail or butt-joint, running from just an inch above the ground through the molding of the crest. Old corner cupboard. Most likely from burke county North Carolina, made from cherry and yellow pine secondary wood. This is a BIG cupboard, it may not look it in the pics, and it truly is not that tall, it stands easily in my 8 foot ceiling, However, it is broader, wider) and deeper than it may appear, that is where the BIG comes in, and yet the proportions are still quite nice. Not boxy looking at all. I think it has lost possibly an inch or two of the feet. the lower skirt seems shallow, and low to the ground, maybe it was in a damp basement years back, or something, and they trimmed it off, i am not sure, but i would bet it has lost some height, an inch or two would be my guess.This is structurally sound and solid, heavy as all get out, and has been in my dining room since the day i bought it, years ago. Other than the feet loss, the cupboard may be missing 2 small sections of the top moulding, the left and right pieces, maybe would have been 5 or 6 inches each, they miter with the main top moulding. there are some minor damage to some of the moulding between the panes, study the pictures, i got a closeup of the main area. these are old mellow, minor issues, they blend in and dont stand out, and catch the eye, or anything, and are cosmetic in nature, not detrimental to the structural function, etc.that's about it, and some dings here and there, typical old cupboard minor imperfections, ask if you want more detail. this cupboard features solid cherry exterior, yellow pine shelving and back, very early saw marks, hand planed lumber, early square nails, pegged doors, early wavy glass panes, either applied cock beading, or scribed cock beading, or some combination of the two, on the stile work around and framing the area where both pairs of doors hang, and beading around the lower panels on bottom doors. much detail does not show up well in those pictures, but they were the best i was able

A very large and impressive antique. Circa 1880's, cherry stained maple Chippendale style corner cupboard. It is two piece construction: cupboard with two arched doors having sixteen panels(fifteen with the original wavy glass. The crest is broken arch type with carved flower rosettes on scroll necks, three urn finials on fluted plinths. There is an incised diaperwork to the front above the doors. The interior has an ivory color paint. The cabinet below has a center drawer between two faux front drawers, with brass batwing brass pulls. The two doors below open to a compartment with a shelf. There are two carved scallop shells on the doors. The front has carved claw feet. The interior doors of the cupboard are stained mahogany. Antique period American cherry glass pane door corner cupboard Kentucky KY?
A 19th century cherry corner cupboard with glass pane doors. The measurements are approximately 85.5" tall and 49.5" wide across the front. You should plan on it taking up about 32.5" of wall space from the corner out along the wall on each side. This corner cupboard is a ONE piece construction(it does not break down into two pieces) There are grooves near the back of each shelf in which to set items for display such as plates/platters/chargers. There is some damage to one pane of glass- it is the lowest pane on the right door(see photo) This is an antique piece of furniture. So there are some nicks, dings, repairs, and imperfections which are noticeable upon close inspection. We believe it may be a Kentucky piece and we believe the surface to have been refinished at some point. Also, the original locking mechanisms on both ... moresets of doors appear to have been removed and replaced. The top corners of the molding on the front appear to have been damaged/repaired. That said, the construction is quite solid and there is no major damage which has affected the integrity of this piece.
