It most certainly dates to the 19th ... moreCentury. It is Victorian in detail but has Gothic elements as well. The piece is in exceptionally good condition, for a piece of this age. It does have some surface scratches and dings on it, and I am not sure if the glass or hardware is original. It has a key, and the top and bottom doors can be locked. The shelves on the bottom are cut out to accommodate the latching mechanism. The glass in the top doors is a textured style of glass and is slightly opaque. The drawers have half-blind dovetail joints that are a bit wider space, as is typical of older pieces that date to the earlier half of the 19th Century. The lion head embellishments are hand carved.

Antique Gothic Revival Carved& Parcel Gilt Oak Cabinet(Click to Enlarge) Click to Enlarge) This incredible Gothic Revival cabinet dates from the mid to late nineteenth century and measures an impressive 72" tall. 46" wide and 20" deep. It features extensive hand-carved painted and gilded decoration, including three-dimensional canopied figures of saints, tracery with trefoil, quatrefoil and fleur-de-lis motifs, and reticulated door and drawer fronts. Drawers and doors are lined with red fabric which likely dates from the early twentieth century or even earlier. There is a minor loss to the horizontal molding at the front/right corner, but no other serious losses. It has two upper cabinets and one lower cabinet each behind single doors, plus four drawers. Ornate gothic style display cabinet with hold lock and door pull. Each level has a plate stopper. This antique is truly a one of a kind. The lower cabinet would be perfect for tablecloths or use it as another form of storage. It's in very good condition for its age. However there is a small space near the top door pull where you can tell the wood has warped over time(I included this blemish in the photos) but to me this is just proof that you have a true antique. Italian Neo-Gothic Style cabinet
Cabinet. Walnut, fully carved with two drawers with gargoyles, vines, and leaves over two doors with recessed shell, cupid heads, and additional vines, etc. above a single bottom drawer with a man in the mountain style center head carving on a ground of additional leaves, vines, etc. The piece in addition to the full carving feature a spindled gallery, three rounded shelves at each end and decorative carved columns. It has bun feet. The cabinetry features hand dovetailing on the drawers and back panels with additional mortised case work. The cabinet is in the Italian Neo-Gothic style ca. 1920. It is 64" w x 60" tall.

Uniform look, but the flash obviously makes ... morethe piece look significantly lighter in certain places as well as amplify any imperfections. There are a few minor bumps and scrapes as shown in the pics. The very top has some light"surface" graffiti. See pics. I say surface because they are not deep and could be removed with light sanding. Probably some naughty church boys from the past. The average person cannot see the top when standing in front of the piece. I am 6' 2" and I cannot see these marks without standing on a stool. I believe there may have originally been two additional carvings on the two vertical boards toward the back on each side. I can't say for sure. But there be appears to be some light wear in these locations. The piece is signed in the back I believe M.I. Belgium B.G.E. The only reference I could find to this signature is MI Belgium Ministre which published some religious books. The front opens and the back is on hinges so both sides open. From auction records. My family has owned this cabinet since 1905 when my great grandmother purchased it in a used furniture store. They estimated it was about 50 years old at that point. It is black walnut. Restored 19th Century Small Victorian Cabinet Someone did a very good job cleaning this up. Inside and out. It has been used a little since then, but still looks great. The backer board was replaced with a nice piece of plywood and some of the metal hardware looks replaced, although the knobs look period to the cabinet.
