Country Pine 1840 Antique Corner Cabinet. A tall country pine corner cabinet has a classic flat crown. It was hand crafted about 1840, and said to be from Pennsylvania. The finish is very well preserved with warm antique patina and lots of mars. Stains and wear for character. Waxed and buffed, it needs only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth to maintain its luster. Inside shelves have grooves to display plates behind glass panes in the door. The back is hand hewn and the top is attached with hand cut dovetail joints. Hand cut square nails are visible on this American made furniture. This cabinet was surely made for a specific place in an old home and now it is ready for a new home! Construction is all mortise and tenon and pegged except for the rear boards are tongue and groove.with 1" by 10" heart pine boards and what appear to be rosehead nails. These back boards are continuously the same board from the top to the bottom of the cabinet. Old corner cupboard. Most likely from burke or caldwell county North Carolina, made from early southern yellow pine, all hand planed and chamfered, and pegged. The outside is nice, the inside is partially painted and could use some tlc.The inside is kind of rough in places, and would need a few nails or something to tighten or support the shelves a little better. The shelves are pieced, and a couple of the small, very back corner pieces are looser, and could use a nail or two, I just hate to add, or take away anything from original condition. the plate racks seem to be original, as they are attached with square nails, as the rest of the cupboard is. This is a very sweet, small cupboard in great proportions, and would fit it many smaller kitchens, pantries, even mobile homes, or areas with 7 foot ceilings, etc. I believe this to be mostly ... moreall original, except for the finish. I think it is missing a center medallion at the center peak, and center bottom, and maybe the middle, there are ghost marks where some kind of circular piece has been. Small triangular shaped area at the bottom, is not gone, I have it, it had fallen out when scooting the cupboard tightly into the corner. There are several shelves inside which will make for excellent corner storage. There is a geometric design to the paneled door as well as an inlaid wood escutcheon. The drawer is hand dovetailed and chamfered. Although there is only one drawer. It appears to have three due to the three original wooden pulls or knobs. the top is pine as are the rear boards. One of the rear pine boards is very wide at 17" There are new hanging brackets on the back at the top. At some point a block was added so that this cabinet could also be a freestanding unit. It does retain the original lockset and key. This is a fantastic antique Period American pine corner cabinet. This came out of an old New England house here on Cape Cod where it has sat for well over 140 years. It measures 79.25 inches in height so it will fit any house. The house that it came out of had the very low ceilings to conserve heat back in the 1800s. The cabinet is 56.5 inches wide in front so it is a wide cabinet and will hold a lot of items such as dishes and china. The windows have the original hand blown wavy glass panels in them. There are groove marks in the shelves so the plates will stand up in back. The exterior is a natural finish pine, ... morethe interior of the top has a lime green paint that was on it from a long time ago. Both the doors above and below have the original metal latch on the left side and the original locks on the doors on the right side, pictured. The cabinet was made with the old rosehead nails that were hand made back then. The back boards on back are all original and are approx.12 inches wide. The drawer is hand dovetailed. Country Pine 1890 Antique English Hand Crafted Corner Cupboard. This charming country pine corner cabinet from about 1890 originally had no sides or back. It was built into a corner about 1890. About 50 years ago, the back and sides were added to make a free standing cupboard. Knotty pine has deep moldings. There are some shrinkage separations and warps to the doors from age for antique character. The warm honey finish is in extremely fine condition and has been waxed and buffed so only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its glow. This antique furniture from England has carved turn buttons to secure the doors. Dimensions are 55 1/2" across the crown tip to tip. 7' tall and the sides are 26" from the back corner to the front tip of the crown. Crafted during the middle of the 19th Century, probably around 1840-60, the piece exudes a lack of formality that is incredibly charming. Built to last many lifetimes, the construction of the cupboard is above reproach in every way: each door panel is a solid plank of yellow pine, deeply chamfered along the interior edges to rest inside the mitered door frames; these swing on large iron hinges, all fully original, revealing a well shelved interior retaining an early red painted ... moresurface. Large wrought iron nails are affixed in neat rows across the backboards and the sides of the case; this piece would originally have been painted, this paint later removed to show the wonderful heart pine woods, likely to allow the piece to more harmoniously blend with hardwood floors or exposed beams. Original turned knobs still operate both doors, though shrinkage over the years has resulted in a tight fit in the base doors- note how a worn"hole" in the bottom edge of the lower right door has grown from the need to pull the door open with more than just the knob. Estate found this fall. Is this large early 19th century Pennsylvania Pine 2 piece Corner cupboard. This cupboard was painted sometime in it's life and was stripped by someone. There is still some white paint on the inside of the bottom doors, which were hand chamfered. The hardware is very early and solid brass, and looks like there were changes in the past, by the holes that do not match up. This is the condition that the cupboard was found. It has really old glass with bubbles and flaws in it, and has hand forged nails. The top inside was painted red by someone, and has unusual shaped shelves, while the bottom is still white inside. This is a large corner cupboard with measurements of 47 inches wide by 7 ft 7" tall and 29 inches deep to the corner trim. Up for consideration is a fine American Mid 19th Century Pine Probably Pennsylvania Corner Cupboard in original paint. It stands 90 inches tall by 48 inches wide by 26 inches deep. The piece has wonderful textured crackle and alligatoring finish.which is 100% original. The piece is strikingly Neoclassical and Architectural in form. It has Gothic arch type design doors with classic fluted carved columns. There is some scratches to the paint and light overall wear. The cupboard has some bluish green type stenciling outlining the outer lines. There are also some strategically placed Green leafs with possibly Grapes and Plums in the middle of the door panels. A 19th century pine corner cupboard in a primitive country style. The finish is very worn and dry but not original… it looks like it was painted at one time and then stripped. The hardware has also been replaced; the lock plates on the back of both doors are missing but the doors do close and stay shut. It has a single door on top and a single door on the bottom. And it breaks down into two pieces for transport. The piece measures approximately 87" tall, 38" wide, and 21" deep- a nice narrow size. There is some later replaced wood on the back of the piece which visible in the photos. It is a well worn piece that has a nice country look… the molding at the top is a nice feature. Antique Penn Pine Corner Cabinet
You are bidding on a wonderful Large Pine Corner Cabinet. An early piece with square nail construction, actually in two piece, lower section has two paneled doors and two drawers, the pulls on the drawers are not the originals because you can see where the other drawer holes have been filled, the upper section has two doors with six panes of wavy glass in each one, one pane on the upper right door is cracked. The piece is in overall very good condition, has some blemishes but other wise good and solid, the rear center leg has been repaired and is attached with a couple of bolts but is not visible when cabinet is in place. The measurements are 84 1/8 inches high and 61 inches wide and approx 23 1/2 inches deep, the two sections are 42 inches high for the lower and 42 1/2 for the upper. Though probably best known as author of the historic Charleston Preservation Society's publication, Charleston Interiors, Henry Cauthen's biography below includes many more of his equally significant accomplishments in the field of preservation and advocacy for Historic Preservation. This cupboard came right out of a local estate just yesterday here in Naples Fl. It was moved down here in the early 80s from Pennsylvania. The cabinet has a wonderful rich honey brown patina and for the most part in very good condition. I've taken the time to take ALOT of pictures and they can better describe the piece than I. The cabinet stands 81" tall and is 44" wide by about 19" deep. I counted at least 6 panes of glass with the nice bubbles in them which I believe are original to the piece. ANTIQUE GERMAN PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH PINE CORNER CUPBOARD CABINET
Here is another terrific find from one of my newest consignor's- a delightful family piece inherited from his great-grandmother on the Tulp side of the family originally and his mother most recently. an early to mid-nineteenth century pine corner cabinet from the Pennsylvania Dutch country area of Pennsylvania where his ancestors settled and lived from the early 1800's through the 1930's. This is a solid. Well constructed five board back antique corner cabinet with pegged construction and old nails, and I've included a number of photographs in addition to my detailed description of condition above in an attempt to accurately represent the age, construction, condition, design, quality and overall beauty of this terrific old cabinet. This wonderful corner cabinet stands 73 inches tall and measures 46 inches across at it's ... morewidest point. Outside edge to outside edge.It measured 21 inches deep from the center front straight back into the corner and 27 inches on each side, as in the length along the wall on each side. The interior of the top cabinet measures 39 inches across at it's widest point and has one of two fixed shelves still in place running the width of the cabinet with 15 1/2 inches clearance above the shelf and 16 inches depth back into the corner from the front of that shelf. The space below has a height of 23 inches clearance, also 16 inches deep straight back into the corner and an opening of 28 1/2 inches with the top cupboard door open. Again, as noted by my consignor- he removed the other shelf as the lower of these two spaces is now"perfect" to house a 32 inch flat screen TV as he did. The lower cabinet, also 39 inches across at it's widest point has one fixed shelf 16 inches deep front to back and dividing the 26 1/2 inches in height in two with 12 inches clearance above the shelf and 13 1/2 inches clearance above the base of the cabinet below the shelf.
