Made in England. Circa 1980 Bevan Funnel Yew wood Gothic arched doors Includes key Excellent condition, There are several unusual features to this lovely corner cabinet. First. The wood used is yew wood. Yew wood is a native English wood that is not common, but has many of the same features as maple. The second unusual feature is that we know who made this corner cabinet. Usually English furniture does not include a maker’s mark. On the inside of the lower door is the mark for Bevan Funnel, a very prestigious English furniture firm still in business today. We have dated this particular model to sometime around 1980. From the Gothic arches on the glass doors to the sturdy bracket feet. No attention to detail was spared on this corner cabinet. Inside the top section are two adjustable wooden shelves. They adjust via a brass pin and hole system. The lower cabinet contains one wooden shelf. Both cabinet doors lock and one key is included. A moulded cornice crowns the top while a recessed panel door with trim really shows of the attractive qualities of yew wood. The fact that after over 30 years this yew wood corner cabinet is still in excellent condition is a testament to the quality of skill and care that went into its construction. It has survived with no noticeable wear and would make an excellent addition to any room of your home! This yew wood corner cabinet would look great in any corner of the home! This cabinet was surely made for a specific place in an old home and now it is ready for a new home! Construction is all mortise and tenon and pegged except for the rear boards are tongue and groove.with 1" by 10" heart pine boards and what appear to be rosehead nails. These back boards are continuously the same board from the top to the bottom of the cabinet. This is a desirable shallow and plain antique country pine cabinet/cupboard with two interior shelves. Small enough to wall hang. It originated from England or northern Europe and was built around the middle of the 19 th century. I had it wall-mounted in my living room for many years. But have since downsized. The side seams show signs of age-related separating, but the cabinet is sturdy and not wiggly. I bought this from an antique store in San Anselmo. CA. In the 1990s. Antique Primitive Pine 4 Door wavy glass Cabinet Hutch Cupboard french country
removed from american foursquare built around 1905. It appears that builder used this original cupboard for parts when house was built. I was in the process of gutting the kitchen and installing new sink and cabinets and kinda discovered the bottom half of the piece had been used for the original sink area. It appears that over the years a number of counters had replaced the original top and bottom half framed in with sheetrock. The top glass cabinet was anchored to the wall and had the original 3 coat plaster around it. I managed to find as much of the original pieces as I could and put the bottom back together with the exception of the top. I used yellow pine salvaged from the house to rip the new top. The top glass portion is 100% original and nothing has been done other than clean and lightly sand the pine to remove old plaster. The piece ... moreis huge, it is 8' 4" long and 7' tall. Top cabinet is 13" deep. Bottom is 23" deep. The weight of the item is around 600 to 800 pounds. All glass appears to be original wavy. This is a fantastic cupboard. I would estimate the original age to be in the 1800's but I won't hazard a guess at which decade. There have been shelves added over time and a little extra crown molding up top. It measures 74 1/2" tall. 35" wide and 12" deep. The case has been reinforced with extra screws and nails and this stands straight and sturdy. It has marks that would be expected from dings and dents as well as some loss on the bottom from previous moisture issues, and I might have seen some old worm holes too. Local pick up is preferred. Country Pine 1890 Antique English Hand Crafted Corner Cupboard. This charming country pine corner cabinet from about 1890 originally had no sides or back. It was built into a corner about 1890. About 50 years ago, the back and sides were added to make a free standing cupboard. Knotty pine has deep moldings. There are some shrinkage separations and warps to the doors from age for antique character. The warm honey finish is in extremely fine condition and has been waxed and buffed so only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its glow. This antique furniture from England has carved turn buttons to secure the doors. Wonderful antique Pennsylvania Country Federal corner cabinet or cupboard. This cabinet is in two pieces with an upper cabinet crowned by a molded cornice and a door with twelve glazed panes. The interior of the upper cabinet has been painted a lovely soft turquoise blue and has four shelves. Each with ridges to allow for upright display of plates, bowls and platters. The lower section of the cabinet features a single drawer with wooden knobs and a diamond-shaped brass key surround. Below that are two paneled wooden doors with brass knobs, enclosing a two-shelf storage area. The apron has been fret carved in a decorative scalloped design. The entire cabinet is made from poplar wood and has a beautiful finish that shows signs of age but is probably not original to the piece. This cupboard likely dates from the early 1800's. The genuine article. A large rustic pine two-door cupboard with abundant signs of age and wear. Estimated age more than 100 years. Probably 150. The piece was made in a rustic, provincial style, but with a fine hand, as evidenced by the hand carving, and with some unusual details. In particular note the hand-cut pocket joinery(inverted pyramids cut with a chisel) with the original cut nail showing in the joint. The finish is old wax with a nice patina; the hardware and fasteners are all original, or perhaps added many decades ago, such as the mortise lock(no key) The doors are warped as slab doors with applied frame tend to be, but functional, and the typical signs of regular use for many years. Beautiful French Country Vaisselier or cupboard with plate rack. I bought the piece about 15 years ago at an antique shop in Kansas City. MO for $6700.00. It is a lovely authentic French piece not a reproduction. Circa 1850 or there about. I love it because it truly reflects the French Country simplicity. I'm not sure what region of France but it could be Brittany although it isn't as heavily carved as some Brittany pieces. This is a big piece standing over 7 feet tall- approximately 7'3" 24" inches deep at the deepest and 54" wide. These are approximate measurements. I'm not sure what kind of wood, could be old oak or chestnut or something else. The patina is gorgeous, showing years of use, in fact the plate rack has a slight dip in the lowest rung where it has worn down. There are a couple of dark marks on ... morethe top of the base where a pot was set down at some past time. It is a great piece for displaying your collection of china or antique pottery. I used it for displaying plates for different seasons or holidays, but alas we have moved to a new home without a dining room. It is an absolutely beautiful cupboard that has great presence. It has a top drawer and two doors that open to a shelf- which is great storage for dishes. This Vaisselier has hand carved flowers on the bottom and center and then at the top of the plate rack. Antique pine corner cupboard blind door 19th century narrow country primitive
A 19th century pine corner cupboard in a primitive country style. The finish is very worn and dry but not original… it looks like it was painted at one time and then stripped. The hardware has also been replaced; the lock plates on the back of both doors are missing but the doors do close and stay shut. It has a single door on top and a single door on the bottom. And it breaks down into two pieces for transport. The piece measures approximately 87" tall, 38" wide, and 21" deep- a nice narrow size. There is some later replaced wood on the back of the piece which visible in the photos. It is a well worn piece that has a nice country look… the molding at the top is a nice feature. Here we have a wonderful old primitive tall cupboard from the middle 1800's or possibly later to the 1870's. It has a rather unique crown-like devil's horns with some scroll work on the sides of the top. There are two doors of the one-piece cupboard at the top which open to reveal original wooden shelves. Next looking down one sees two drawers and then there are two smaller doors owning to reveal a wide shelf. The one-piece cupboard stands very. Very tall at 84" high x 35-1/2" wide x 15" deep. There are 3 deep shelves in the top part and one deep shelf in the bottom section. This style could possibly be from the Bishop Hill Colony area in western Illinois but seller has not seen one similar to this one while being an antique dealer for over 40 years.
