I suspect, they could be unscrewed, wet, flattened gradually, maybe some surface molding applied, then a new paint treatment, and this would be an AMAZING cabinet. I could do this for you, for a price, but for most folks, the cabinet with flaws and no alterations is more desirable. It's a personal preference. I ship by FedEx and the post office. Up for auction is this unique oak stepback cabinet/cupboard. Which I believe was a jelly cupboard, although I am not sure. The cabinet is made of what appears to be oak and has interior adjustable shelving. There are a total of four shelves, however, one of the pieces that holds one of the shelves has went missing. I think that this piece would be a simple fix for any woodworking novice though. This is a great old stepback cabinet from the Appalachia area West Virginia it has a great old patina I think this is the original finish that someone put a coat or 2 of varnish over some years ago! Square nail construction! The hinge pockets for the doors were a lot worn out as often is the case with cabinets of this age! The only way I could secure the doors without changing hinge location was by attaching with long screws the hinges are period appropriate but not original! this is a beautiful piece of furniture(c. 1880/1890)that really Catches attention.A REAL ANTIQUE piece.that's got an unusual style to it.it's similar to what is called a"Welsh Dresser"It has storage on the bottom for linens and Silver and things you want to"put away"but the top is a wonderful place for displaying treasured plates. Platters, Etc. Great for a flow blue collector.or any plate collector! It has dovetailing that makes me think it's English.it's very fine.on the bottom drawers.the top smaller drawers have had the sides replaced I think.the joining is different. You can see what I mean in the pictures.The drawer bottoms as you can see in picture# 6 is hand planed.The pulls look Chippendale style.but may have been replaced. The overall style looks like Eastlake Victorian.with a little bit of"Georgian"in ... morethe way the top is cut out with a cool apron design.at top.it has dentil molding and carving's in the door panels that seem late Victorian as well. Primitive, Pine Cupboard Step Back Antique Early American Jelly Cabinet Pantry
This practical country cupboard is a product of early America. Possibly Pennsylvania, having been crafted in the last half of the 19th century. A solid, one piece cabinet, constructed in Pine with a shaped cornice. The upper section is set back, commonly referred to as a stepback, with three shelves behind paneled doors over a large horizontal working surface. With a paneled back. The lower section one shelf behind two paneled doors. Overall. The condition is good. With the expected indentations, scrapes, and other minor cosmetic defects that are associated with antique pine pieces. The construction is solid and the joints are tight. This is definitely a"primitive" with two genuine mouse holes. Stains, and other imperfections that can happen over time. Some of the hinges have been replaced recently and have modern hardware, one ... moreof the lower doors is a bit loose but fine. The outline of the old latches is evident. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN KITCHEN CABINET(1)Ca. 1870s-1890s period step back cabinet/ pie safe. This one retains the round screens on the sides for the breathing holes. The best part about this piece is that it is has not been refinished or altered since it was manufactured. The photo speaks for itself. The reverse bears the name of an Oklahoma town and the I.T. for Indian Territory. This piece is about 79" tall x 21" wide. There is a mixture of woods on this piece.
