This is a desirable shallow and plain antique country pine cabinet/cupboard with two interior shelves. Small enough to wall hang. It originated from England or northern Europe and was built around the middle of the 19 th century. I had it wall-mounted in my living room for many years. But have since downsized. The side seams show signs of age-related separating, but the cabinet is sturdy and not wiggly. I bought this from an antique store in San Anselmo. CA. In the 1990s. This is a very interesting.item.It looks like is was an antique chest. It has the original chest lock and dovetailed corners but at some later time was converted into a wall cupboard. not sure What type of chest or box this was used for. It's too big to be a writing or document box and doesn't seem deep enough to be used as a storage chest.When you look at the key hole it is obvious that this was originally constructed to sit on it's side and the keyhole is in the front side.Years later. Someone turned it, added metal hangers in the back along with a small brass knob in the front and 3 shelves and made it into a wall cupboard. It has an original antique painted finish that is dark red and has a very nice patina and antique look. There is an Eastlake style drawer pull that had been placed on the side and over the keyhole. I don't ... moreknow why This must have been added later since the box looks like it predates the Victorian era. For the purist. Turning the item back into a box only requires removing the drawer pull and putting an escutcheon over the keyhole then removing the 3 inside shelves the hangers and small knob. It is very handy and you might want to consider continuing to use it as a cupboard. The item is 25 inches tall 15 inches wide and 5 inches deep. Please feel free to ask questions.

I am delighted to offer for your consideration. This antique corner cabinet. This piece dates roughly around 1840-70's. In the classic and lovely Empire style. Wonderful curved doors and arched wood detailing. Ones of this age and size and very rare and highly collectible! It stands 18 inches tall. From tip to tip at the widest point it is 17 1/4 inches. The two back panels that go against the wall are 12 inches wide. The top has a nice strip of inlay wood. It has it's original hardware but no key for the lock. The overall condition is very good and it is ready to enjoy. The piece appears to may have been painted at some point. Slight remnants visible. The doors are not flush and a space is present as seen.
