We believe this beautiful display piece to have its original ebonized finish and original beveled mirrors and offers an elegant way to display those special collectibles. This piece measures a total height of 70 1/2 inches. With a total depth of 21 inches,total width of 29 1/2 inches and weighs approximately 35 lbs. This piece offers a broken arched pediment with applied scroll carvings above a small display shelf with a pair of matched beveled mirrors below. Another display shelf is found above the oval beveled mirrors and more display space on the corner base below. The base offers pierced carvings on each side of the original framed glass door that accents the display ... moreshelves on the inside. Smaller shelves are found on each side of the glass door cabinet with a lovely decorative skirt. This piece has cabriole styled front legs with a triangular stretcher shelf at the base. We also believe the red velvet fabric that covers these shelves to also be original to the piece. There is a tiny piece of applied carving missing on the top right portion above the first shelf that's not real noticeable and appears to have been missing for some time. Antique Oak 4 Drawer Library Bureau File Cabinet C1890
This is a 4 drawer oak file cabinet paneled on all sides measuring 14 1/2 Wide. 27 deep, and 51 1/2 high. It was purchased in 1976 from an Upstate NY antique dealer specializing in restoring antique file cabinets. They thought it was a C 1890 cabinet manufactured by Library Bureau which patented them in 1892. It uses a bottom wood slider which predates the side sliders by a number of years. I don't know much about the cabinet except what the dealer stated and what I found on-line under: officemuseum.com/filing_equipment_cabinets.htm and page down to Vertical Files. Here is one of those rare finds.a simple Shaker. Mission or Arts and Crafts a beautiful and tall, bench made, solid maple, fantastic step back cupboard with New England provenance, from one family, with original glass and lock sets, turned bun feet, many drawers and locking cubbyhole section as well as a"fold out" section which provides a great writing surface. The section above the writing surface has two doors which slide open, expose a simple cubbyhole section, and can be locked with the original lockset and key. The three small drawers are all hand dovetailed and the secondary wood is pine. All of the wooden knobs are original on all of the drawers. The top section also has the two doors each with eight original glass panes.these are opened to find two shelves which are very and easily adjustable. The bottom three drawers are ... morealso all hand dovetailed and have secondary pine and chamfered bottoms. The bottom two larger drawers are slightly recessed below the top drawer and there are simple"columns" on each side. This cupboard has an incredible amount of storage space and would fit in many rooms of a home or an office! It would be great in an office. This fine 19th century china cabinet features its old wavy glass. The original mirrors at the back and working locks with a tasseled key. Tall China Cabinet c1890 with Hand Carved Features
82 inches high with the carved piece and birds removed. ~7 1/2 ft tall with the ornaments in place. 45 inches across at the claw feet and side carvings. 2 ft deep at widest exterior ornament. Bought in an antique store in Kansas City 25 yrs ago. Driven home lying on its back in a Dodge Caravan. We've no sure history about the piece. Recently an appraiser estimated circa 1890-French influence and said if it was in an antique store in Kansas City today. It would be marked ~$3,600. Two different guesses what type of wood. See close up shots to decide on your own. Underside of shelves and roof of interior look rough sawn. The large carved piece in center slides off and the two birds have pegs. We noticed the center hand carved piece has a 3 inch- old glued repair on the back not noticable from front. c1890 Historic Chinese Apothecary Cabinet 36 Drawers From Chinatown, SF Redwood
Note: Please notice our 1300+ Positive Feedback from satisfied customers! This is the apothecary chest that was at the Alameda Pt flea last Sun. This historic cabinet came from Chinatown. SF, Calif and was built right into a wall. It ended up in a barn in Sonoma County, CA before coming into our possession. It dates to circa 1880-1900. Each drawer has notations in Chinese as to the previous contents it contained. Featuring 36 drawers(nailed construction with partial dovetails) and the old, original crusty painted surface. We had our restorer go over this cabinet and do minimal paint touch-up, a coat of paste wax and an overall tightening of the case to make it sturdy. Some of the handles have been replaced. Please study the photos. The cabinet is just a touch lighter as these were shot on a cloudy day. The backboards are comprised of T&G ... moreand you can see where it was cut right out of a wall. This would have been made by Chinese craftsmen out of local California woods when fitting out a retail apothecary shop. It aprox. measures 49" wide, 58" tall, and 12 1/2" deep. It is mostly made from what looks to be 1st growth coastal redwood with pine as the secondary wood(the outer case boards are pine but most of the interior& drawers are from redwood) It is very heavy& you will need two strong people to load/unload.
