An English furniture maker has retro-fitted the interior to make it into a beautiful gun cabinet. There are two adjustable shelves at the top of the bookcase and then a"notched" shelf for the barrels to lean and at the very bottom there are cut outs for the stocks. The glass doors lock ... morewith an old French key. The lock is an old lock that is not easy to turn. And requires two complete revolutions of the key to fully lock or unlock the doors. At the bottom is a drawer that has hand cut dovetailed joints and slides in and out very easily. The bookcase is very heavy and sturdy and in good overall condition. There are quite a few age splits in the piece, some on the barley twist columns and on both sides of the case. These are purely cosmetic and do not affect the structural integrity of the piece. Please note this cabinet ships in 1 piece and does not break down. A remarkable Victorian Gun Cabinet/Breakfront. The patina of time has done well with this wonderful piece. Original glass with some of those bubbles. Walnut that has been polished and cared for over the years. 2 good size drawers with beautifully carved handles- 4 in all. This is a tall piece. Made up of 3 sections that together become 1. The base with its 2 drawers. The middle and largest portion. And finally the cap. 94 inches tall(just about 8 ft) 51 inches wide. 20 inches deep at its deepest. 12 inches deep at the mid section Carved handles. Carved door trim and many carved decorations- at each corner of the door. The oval glass has wonderful molding trim. There's also a trim across each glass panel. There are rosewood panels on the side of each door. Well made. and well kept. The interior has the original grooved sides. However the ... moreshelves(which can be removed) were added to be able to hold china. This is a tall piece. You must have at least 8 ft ceilings for it to fit. As you can see. When I purchased from the former owners estate that was the description I was given. There is a left and right section. The difference is the board that is the top of the lower section above the 2 drawers over hangs on either the right or left side. You can use as you like the rest of the case is similar in design. For sale we have a 7 foot tall by 56 inch by 20 inch deep. This is made with dowels and only has 8 small screws that hold the back panel on otherwise everything is made to fit together without screws. Except for the back everything fit in my station wagon. This antique gun cabinet/breakfront is a statuesque piece from the Victorian era. A gun cabinet that has been fitted with shelves to hold china and objects d'art. Walnut with burled inserts. The cabinet is in 3 sections. The base which holds the drawers. The top section with the glass panels and interior shelves. And a Cap or Crown. The wood is in beautiful condition. The glass is original. This is a piece from the 1870's. 91 inches tall. 53 inches wide 12 inches deep(the top section) 22 inches deep(the bottom drawer section) Pickup Only. Wonderful Lighted China Cabinet/Dis[play Cabinet/Case OAK. For auction we have the pictured China Cabinet. It was lovingly refinished and converted from an armoire by removing the front panels and adding glass. This retrofit was very well done. The bottom back is stenciled by a Cincinnati firm. Not sure if that was the maker. The cabinet is fitted with two flood lights which I would replace with LED's. The cabinet is ready to move into your space and house your collectibles or could even be used a a gun case. Thanks for looking and the measurements are 7' tall by 20" wide by 49 3/4 wide.
