Primitive 1840's Open Top Walnut Corner Cupboard This estate item is ready to use! There is normal wear at all edges from everyday use. Beautiful Walnut with Heart Pine secondary wood. Top two shelves have wonderful scalloped fronts. Top case shelves have spoon carved trenches to hold upright plates. Deep beveled heavy raised panel door front. Beautiful 1800's Walnut Corner Cabinet
Up for auction is an early walnut corner cabinet that is 7' 4 3/4" tall. 54" wide and 25" deep. The old cabinet has been professionally refinished and is in great condition for it's age. The cabinet was purchased from a southern Tennessee estate. The cabinet has old glass in the top doors and the doors are mortised and pegged. The bottom doors have chamfered panels and are mortised and pegged. The doors have a maple inlay keyhole, the lock and key is not original to the piece. The finish is a medium tone walnut with several coats of hand applied sealer. The old cabinet is two pieces which makes it easier to move around. AMERICAN PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH SOLID WALNUT CORNER CUPBOARD CABINET CIRCA 1820
This is an antique Pennsylvania Dutch solid walnut corner cupboard with two glazed(glass) doors that dates to the 1820's. It is mostly original including the front and back. The back has 14" wide lapped pine boards with the appropriate saw markings and cut nails. There are some newer nails(probably late 1800's) added to supplement the original nails. The bottom and shelves are cut from single solid pieces of wood(17" wide) And the upper shelf has grooves cut into them to prevent the dishes from slipping when stood upright. It features hand-made crown moulding. Two glazed doors with six panes of original wavy glass in each and two solid lower doors. The glass is held in with putty. It has a wonderful scalloped lower apron and the original iron hinges. There is a single drawer in the front with wide bevel bottom and wide hand-cut ... moredove-tails. The wooden knob is held in place be a hand cut screw. Although the original wooden clips are still in place to keep the left upper and lower doors shut, there have been 4 magnetic latches installed inside to keep all doors closed. These can easily be removed if desired. I do not see any maker's marks on the piece at all, but what appears to be the name"Bolton" is written in chalk in cursive on the bottom of the cupboard. The cupboard stands 87" tall and fits into a 32" corner. It is 52" wide and 21-1/4" deep overall(at the crown moulding) And 49" wide and 19" deep. This is a gorgeous corner cupboard that measures 78" X 52" The glass in the two upper doors is wavy which attests to its age. The finish is smooth and there are no defects anywhere. The hardware is original. There are two shelves in the upper door area and one in the lower door area. The cupboard is part of my parents' estate. They always prized this piece after years of being antique collectors and dealers. Dad lit the interior with mini lights to highlight his display of historical china. Each shelf is channeled to display plates and platters, the front edge of each shelf molded, one shelf crafted to hold utensils in the front edge. The case has outstanding proportions. These eased by the thick molding around the waist and the inlaid band around the shoulders- this easily divides the visual planes of the piece into graduated levels that are easier for the eye to digest. The bottom of the case has a pair of solid walnut doors framed in a matching inlaid band, each embellished with inlaid shield escutcheons to match the arched door, these opening to reveal a shelved interior. The entire case rests over original bracket feet. The construction of the case is very fine. The pair of stiles on either side of the case joined in some kind of hidden dovetail or butt-joint, running from just an inch above the ground through the molding of the crest. Kentucky Walnut Corner Cupboard, c. 1830
This is a Kentucky made walnut corner cupboard originally from Canewood Farm in Bourbon County. I purchased it from Loch Lea Antiques in Paris. Kentucky some twenty years ago. This piece stands 83" tall and is 40 1/2" across the front. It has matching dentil molding across both the cornice and base. There has been restoration to the base and the piece has been refinished. Cupboard door features a recessed panel with tongue-and-groove construction; brass keyhole cover, lock plate, and hinges; interior shelf gives two levels of storage inside, plus outside storage on the top; holes for wall mount present in each back panel. All 4 doors are absolutely straight and well made with pined corners. The shelves as you see in the photo above have hand cut plate ... moregrooves of the time period. THIS IS A VERY NICE SIZE AT 77' tall. At the top it is 49' wide, all top and bottom inside shelves are 43' wide. 16' front to back. WHAT IS FUN TO FIND AND ALWAYS MISSING, see photo above this has the original dove tail left top door latch on the inside still indicted. Again see photo above. The feet have never been shortened or rebuilt they are age correct. The feet are known as bootjack cut. On the back. Center bottom this leg is always broke on most cabinets and replaced. This one of course is original, this shows that this cabinet has been well taken care of. Please take notice that the top and bottom doors still have the original single brass pulls still have the original brass patina which has never been shined or cleaned. This is a plus ONE LAST MENTION when you find a corner cabinet of this age hinges have been moved or replaced. walnut corner cupboard three piece 9'+ tall unusual
In over 30 years in the antique business I have never seen a corner cupboard like this. It is in three sections and a little over 9 feet tall. Although a real eye catcher with all three sections. It could be used with two and then hang the top section. Beautiful carved trim, great key hole decoration,square nailed, hidden compartments and drawers. I tried to photograph the way each of the top two cabinets will slide the back to reveal hidden compartments. There are also drawers in the bottom section. The base is about 55" across. No shipping. Early 19th Century Antique Solid Walnut Corner Cupboard Cabinet 1800's
Appraiser's notation: Walnut 12 pane corner cupboard in one section cove molded cornice above single 12 pane door. 2 lower doors with flat panels. Cut out skirt and feet. First 1/2 19th century. Excellent refinished condition. This piece is heavy and solid with no loose doors. Panels, shelves, glass, or joints. There is a light patch on top right side of top door and a darkening on the lower left bottom door( please see photos) The key and lock are fully functioning on top glass door. The key fits in bottom lock however the lock does not work. The bottom left door has a turnbuckle. Measurements: 82 1/2 inches tall. 38 inches across front. 16 1/2 inches deep inside.
