We are pleased to offer this GORGEOUS pair of antique to older vintage(1940s to early 1960s) Regency styled chairs. The chairs retain their ORIGINAL FINISH AND FABRIC. This stunning pair of chairs feature ORNATE wood frames with Sheraton. Chippendale or Hepplewhite details. The chairs are square with a low profile and straight backs. The open frames feature beautiful medallion detail on each side as well as the back. A small, gilt wood floral accent is centered in each of the medallions. The arms have a slight flare and they"roll" at the ends. The gilded floral accent is present here as well. The legs are Hepplewhite design with a slight taper and sparse fluting. The frames are finished in an ivory to cream with gold gilt accents. A decorative, faceted finial is attached on each side of the upper back frame. The pair have fixed ... morefabric seats and removable(and reversible) tufted, back cushions. The fabric is a striking sapphire blue with a velvet look and feel. The blue provides a very nice contrast to the light colored frames. The chairs are constructed with older, flat, slotted screws. They are in very good condition with some minor"chipping" to the painted finish which is not distracting. This can be retouched although, left as is, the chairs have a wonderfully aged charm. The fabric is in incredible condition for its age. One chair has very slight"fade" spots on the seat. It is only visible in certain light and is not distracting. The seat padding is in very good condition with no sagging. The back cushions are plump and may be down filled. The chairs are free of stains, rips, etc. There are no manufacturer's marks or tags but this is a very nice pair of chairs and, no doubt, from a reputable manufacturer. They are structurally very sturdy and they are heavy. The chairs are exquisite in both detail and appearance. They have also been cared for very well. For sale is a J. W. Grand tufted swivel club/lounge chair. It is Subdued Yellow and screams VINTAGE 1970s. Originally sold at the Upscale J. H. Biggars in Pasadena. California(now closed) this was then, a top of the line addition to any living room/parlor. The materials used in it's manufacture are very high quality. The swivel works as smooth as the day it was made. There are no rips, tears, cuts, cigarette burns or pulls, anywhere in the fabric. The seat cushion is removable and washable and is in very good condition both sides. This is a very strong and very well-preserved swivel club chair. There is some soiling on the front bottom dust flap and also on the back of the chair rim(top) This was the result of rubbing against storage walls. It is not'ground-in' soiling. It should clean relatively easy with a good upholstery shampoo. ... moreThere is only very subtle fading of the overall fabric as indicated by the very slight difference in color shades from the arm-rests that once had covers. The color is not a bright yellow. And is not a mustard yellow. More of a dijon. It is a yellow that feels like it could very easily turn low-key-green at any moment, if that makes any sense. It also is one of the most comfortable club chairs I've ever sat in. I'm a big dude. My daughter is sitting in the chair to provide scale. She is a bout 5'6, 110lbs. Vintage Tufted Maple Club Armchair Regency Mid Century
For sale is a wonderfully preserved regency style tufted-back Maple(or Oak) Armchair. This one is precious. Very sturdy. Efficient 9-coil suspension design in the seat cushion. Nary a creak or groan when sat upon( and I'm a big dude) As strong as the day it was made. Not 100% certain of the date of manufacturer. The tag under the cushion shows an Upholstery date of June 25th 1963. If this is the original upholstery than the chair is 1/2 a century old. If it has been re-upholstered than the date of manufacture is un-certain. It was upholstered at Golz Upholstery. On Holt Avenue in Pomona, Ca about 5 miles from the chair's current location( Golz is no longer in business) It came from a home locally here in southern California. Where it belonged to the original and same single owner, enjoying the arid and even climate that tends to be ... morekinder to furniture than other climates across the country. At any rate and even if the chair is just 50 years old. It is in fantastic condition. In photo#1, it sits un-polished. As such, some of the subtle nicks and abrasions are visible. With a quick polish( photo with construction helmet) The surface abrasions( mostly on the legs) become mush less prominent. Should something more than a polish be desired. All surface issues are an easy fix in the hands of a competent restorer, or even someone less formally trained( like myself. LOL) The carving on the back is wonderful. The soft and comfortable tufting extends through the back of the chair. It is plush on both sides. There are two small marks on the seat cushion. I have not tried to clean them. That will be left up to the new owner. They are not substantial in size( see photos) The ribbon piping is strong and aesthetically pleasing. The color is perfect(for me) I certainly hope the new owner doesn't feel the need to change a thing.
