They are each 100% SOLID TEAK throughout(sides, seat, arms and back) with removable upholstered seat and back cushions. Great looking from any viewing angle and they provide excellent comfort. Cushions are the original heavy inner spring design, so no fear of them loosing their shape verses just foam. Upholstery is a wonderful neutral oatmeal color woven wool, so will match in any color scheme decor. Pair Of Vintage Mid Century Modern Eames Herman Miller Plywood DCM Cowhide Chair
This Listing is for two Eames DCM cowhide chairs circa 1970. It seems that both came from the estate of the original owner who at one point started to refurbish them. But came up short. Both are in functional condition, but they need some work. It is possible that the eames chair with black feet is not an original cowhide DCM chair, but that it was possibly made to match the DCM chair with white feet, which has slightly more wear consistent with a chair from the 1970 period. The tags and stamps are not on the chairs, however there are areas of discoloration which seem consistent with what original Eames cowhide chairs tags and stamps would have been. This all being said. They are charming and quite rare examples of classic Eames, particularly since the comfortable cowhide surface denotes a uniquely american response to the overwhelming danish/european ... moreinfluence of the mid century modern design movement. They are wonderful and functional in their current condition.and though they would need some restoration to become showroom caliber pieces, they are by far superior in comfort, historical relevance, and rare styling than the many knockoffs and modern day reproductions that are available new today. These chairs in excellent condition often sell for between $1000- $2000 per chair. However, these chairs are listed for only $445 for BOTH chairs, shipping included. I am told proper refurbishing or restoration typically increases the value a significant amount in these types of circumstances, however I have not looked into this myself regarding these chairs. These vintage chairs are true American classics. And this upholstery type is significantly more rare than other types, and therefore can it can command a higher price than other eames DCM/LCM chairs in similar conditon. They show wear typical of age and use. But as you can see were well cared for. You may wish to clean the upholstery to freshen up a bit, but they display absolutely fine as they are. This is a great looking pair of vintage mid century modern Siesta chairs by Westnofa. They are leather and the wood appeas to be a rosewood. They have some wear on the front corners and some wear in here and there from use. One chair has had one bolt replaced but this does not show during normal use. This is an authentic pair of knoll Saarinen tulip chairs. Obviously these are the armchair model. And the bases do swivel. If I'm reading the stamps on the foam padding in the cushions correctly, it looks like these particular chairs are from 1988. As the pictures show. One chair is in better condition than the other. The powder coating is cracking on the base of 1 chair, but the other chair base is in great shape. At any rate, this can be fixed any time in the future. When I received these chairs. They had been spray painted red. The paint job was very poorly done(thank goodness) so I was able to remove about 99% of the red paint. The tiny spots that remain are primarily under the cushion, or are at the edge of a scratch, etc. and removing this would possibly scratch the fiberglass or damage the powdercoat, so I've left it alone. ... moreThe few traces of paint that remain don't affect the function or asthetic of the chairs in any noticeable way. The cushions and their padding are all original. As is everything about these 2 chairs. The aluminum base is in excellent condition on both chairs, as is the fiberglass shell. Superb form with pleasing angles that add an element of design to any room. The angular arms/armrests are wonderful are beautifully sculpted. The elongated diamond backs are just Amazing. There is a general over all wear. Light corner bumps, light scuffs, etc. The pads are excellent and look fresh, fabric is a nubby and this and other lounge set were reupholstered not so along to match. It is not the best job I have seen and not worst either it's very useable and would be easy to change to color of choice or as said earlier perfectly fine to use as is.
