DESCRIPTION: Offered is a rare set of six solid Brazilian rosewood dining chairs by Niels Koefoed(sometimes spelled: Kofoed) for Hornslet. Made in Denmark. I think this design is called"Ingrid" Another of his chair designs was called"Eva" This set consists of four side chairs and two arm captain's chairs. Each chair is marked with the original Koefoed's orange paper label. Each chair is stamped with the Danish control brand and marked with the Hornslet brand. Original black vinyl upholstery. It doesn't get much better than this! Solid construction. Organic shaped, minimalist Danish Modern form. If for resale, I'd suggest upgrading the upholstery. Listed for sale is an original and extremely rare set of Herman Miller Rosewood DCM's designed by Charles and Ray Eames. This set was purchased from the estate of the original owners and is in magnificent condition. The original owners had maintained the set and I was told that they were simply maintained as was instructed in Herman Miller's care guide. The grain is outstanding and bases still look great. Uniquely. This set carries Herman Miller's round white labels, indicating that they were made sometime between 1955 and 1960. The chairs have all of their original feet and are all labelled. Three still retain their white medallions, while all still have their stickers. The set is an extremely rare find and this set acts as an outstanding example. Additional pieces can also be found in my other items. Rosewood Finish appears ... moreto be excellent and throughout all six chairs. There are only a couple of nicks that had been addressed professionally at one point in time. The chairs really look phenomenal for their age. Shock Mounts The shock mounts are also completely original and are all holding up remarkably well. Deterioration does not seem to be taking place. Bases The chromed steel has held up very well and shows minimal signs of pitting. There is some oxidation to the underside. But otherwise, they are still bright and gleaming. This is a set of 4 vintage rosewood danish modern dining chairs. Model#79, made by N.O. Moller of Denmark. N.O. Moller is one of the"era defining" designer furniture manufactures of the 1950's and 1960's. And as elegant and minimalistic as these chairs look. Moller was known for putting in an enormous amount of time to each design as he considered all the various aspects of furniture building, not just aesthetics. His son was quoted once as saying"my father spent an average of 5 years to design and develop each chair. And while most mid century modern furniture manufactures are no longer in business. The N.O. Moller company continues to manufacture high end danish modern pieces for those who have an appreciation of quality craftsmanship and modern design. The wood used for this particular set is Rosewood. Much more ... morerare than teak. And even today much more expensive than teak; rosewood is sought after for its bold. Well defended grain, and variation of color tones such as yellows, purples, etc. Brazilian rosewood in particular is no longer available anywhere. Except when found 2nd hand as a vintage furniture piece, as it is now an endangered species of wood and harvesting is internationally prohibited. The upholstery is danish cord. Which is typically only seen on high end furniture pieces, due to the amount of labor involved to"cord" a chair. In fact, danish cording often costs more than even high quality leather upholstery. CONDITION: the overall condition of these chairs is very good. One chair had the cording replaced very recently. And therefore this chair has a slightly lighter color tone to the seat than the other chairs. This same chair with the new cord seat also had a repair at some point on one of the legs. It is completely stable, and even hard to notice the repair, so please view pics carefully to see what I'm referring to.
