You can see from the pictures that these are very nicely crafted. The material is nice an snug on its fram. And not all loose and baggy. You can see the hand tacked base of the chairs as well. The bottom of these chairs is also intact with the black coverpiece on the bottom. In addition you can see underneath the cushion is nice and clean as well. Siting in these chair is excellent. As you can tell they were rarely sat in. The cushion is nice and dense with very sturdy springs in the chair. Not dealling with a rutt in your seat is a good thing. Vintage Pair French Carved Louis XVI Fauteuil Arm Chairs In Floral Needlepoint
Vintage French Louis XVI Fauteuil Arm Chairs These 2 French Louis Fauteuil Arm Chairs are upholstered in gorgeous floral needlepoint. They are absolutely stunning. I'm not sure how old the needlepoint work is. But it's in excellent condition. It's bright and colorful! The very back is upholstered in a green teal velvet. These chairs came from a gorgeous estate in Paradise Valley, AZ. Unfortunately, they were close to a bay window and it seems to have discolored the velvet back of 1(one) of the chairs as noted in the pictures. Additionally, I noticed that in the needlepoint(you have to look very close) there seems to a a slight run in the back seat of one of the chairs(see 3rd photo) There are spots where someone tried to touch-up some spots which I've take photo's of as well. From the front of these chairs, they look as ... morethough nothing is wrong. I also noticed that the inside is made-up of coil springs and horsehair. When you sit in the chair and try to move the frame around it isn't to bad. But one does wobble some. The frame has natural cracks due to the age. If you are redoing the chairs, then I would re-spring one of them. I'm not an expert on these, but when I sit in one it's a little more stiff then the other. In one chair there is some bounce. This is what leads me to suggest to have it re-sprung. I'm not an expert by any means, but please ask before bidding. I'm really good at answering quickly. The main color of the needlepoint is green. Its almost a forest green with a hint of teal. The pictures capture the colors very well. The patina on the wood is outstanding! There are padded arms. Antique distressed cream colored paint with hints of gold through it. I'm uncertain of the age, however one of their kids who retained us to handle the estate told us that they definitely had them in the early 50's. He seemed to think they were earlier then 1940's. Flowers on back center with yellow pin stripping at various spots on the chair, fronts of legs have black stripping. These chairs are in nice sturdy shape, but have definite signs of normal edge wear and seat wear from age, use and storage. One chair has a bunch of scratches in seat area other has some, one with more car scratches also has some white paint splash dot marks on seat surface. Can be used in condition they are in as the wear adds nice patina to these chairs or they'd be a great sturdy solid set to refinish. Both are marked on bottom.
