Vtg All Steel ASE Industrial Metal Office Swivel Desk Chair Mid Century Modern
For auction is one stellar vintage All Steel Equipment(ASE) swivel armchair from the 1960's. This is one of my favorite desk chair designs from this era; the blend of industrial ruggedness and mod swagger is just perfect. Look at those lines. People! The angles of the arms and backrest, the tapered 4-prong base, the hooded casters.and that big black plastic ball on the tension adjustment lever underneath is like the period at the end of a beautifully written sentence. The upholstery is all original and in excellent condition. Though the foam seems to have deteriorated somewhat in front. It looks like it would be easy to have the foam replaced without sacrificing the upholstery, though. It would be a shame to get rid of the original vinyl and fabric blend, though, especially when the only flaw in the upholstery is just a little bit of ... morerubbing on the top rear edge of the backrest(pictured) The metal has been cleaned and polished. And the casters have been relubricated. There is a small amount of pitting on a couple of small areas on the 4-prong base(pictured) but otherwise the frame is rust-free and looks to be finished in brushed nickel plate. For auction is one vintage GF Goodform Model 6023 in a black wool blend upholstery. It is a rather"warm" black. And could be mistaken for a very dark brown in a certain light. It is in excellent condition, and has been thoroughly cleaned and detailed, including the upholstery. The backrest column and four-prong base are made of solid aluminum, and the metal stock is made of steel. All mechanical adjustments function properly, and the casters roll nicely. It retains the original tag underneath. There are some scratches in the finish on the backrest column and base consistent with age, the most noticeable of which I've photographed. This is a great looking antique solid wood office style chair. The construction on this piece is phenomenal and it is both incredibly sturdy and well made and also very stylish. It has some wear here and there from age and use but overall looks great and works very well. It does not say a maker that I can see but is very similar Sikes office chairs I have seen. It measures measures 22 1/2" wide x 24" deep x 31" tall. The seat height is 18" but this is adjustable. Handmade Custom Craftsman Fred Blechschmidt Solid Wood Office Swivel Desk Chair
I am offering this signed Craftsman style solid wood executive custom made swivel desk chair. The signature on the bottom reads"Handcrafted by Fred Blechschmidt" There is also an incised number on the bottom that reads"82 618" The total height of the chair is about 40 inches. The seat is 21 7/8 inches wide in the front and about 20 1/2 inches deep. The height from the floor to the top of the seat is about 17 inches. I'm not sure if the height of the seat is adjustable or not. I have included a picture of the swivel mechanism for your inspection- maybe you can tell. There is a a piece that looks like it might turn but I wasn't able to move it. I'm not certain what type of hardwood was used and if it is all the same type or not. I think it looks like some type of walnut or cherry- possibly black walnut or brazilian ... morecherry. Whatever the type. It is gorgeous and has beautiful grain. As you can see in my pictures, there are many lovely details on this chair including some marquetry accenting along the top. Regarding the condition, there is some wear to the finish and light scratches here and there- mainly where you would expect it on the top of the arm rests. There is a small scrape on the back top edge(see pictures) Overall, it looks wonderful. I do not know anything for certain about the artist woodcrafter who made this chair. There was a person by that name that lived in the Amana, Iowa area and I suspect is might have been him. That person passed on in 1987. This is a vintage steelcase adjustable swiveling office chair. The backrest and chair height are both adjustable. And the four point base has casters so the chair is easy to maneuver and move around as needed. Chair does have the steelcase tag, as pictured. The upholstey is all original, and had some wear typical of such a vintage piece. Also, the chair itself has some scratches and such on parts of the frame. For auction is one vintage GF Business Equipment Pollock-style swivel chair. It is in excellent original condition and has its original green fabric. The shell and arms are made of a black, textured hard rubber or plastic, and there is a black rubber edge strip that goes around the edge of the upholstery. For auction is one original vintage All-Steel Equipment(ASE) metal swivel desk chair from the 1950s. It is in very good original condition. And has been freshly cleaned and detailed. The casters have been lubricated and roll smoothly, and all mechanical functions work properly. The beautiful two-tone vinyl and fabric upholstery and cushioning are in excellent original condition. No rips or tears anywhere, and not a stitch out of place. The metal frame is painted a silvery gray color, and has scratches here and there consistent with decades of use. The metal base has gray plastic caps on the ends, a couple of which are chipped(see photos) The gray plastic arm pads also have some cracks and chips, but are otherwise intact and in good shape.
