Description Offered for sale are a Set of Eight(8) S. Bent& Bros. Inc. Vintage Maple Captains Chairs. These chairs include 7 side chairs and 1 larger armchair. The chairs were manufactured in Gardner. Massachussettes and I believe them to be circa 1970's. The side chairs measure 30" high x 21" wide x 19" deep overall and the seat measures 17" wide x 15" deep. The larger single captain's armchair measures 32" high x 23.5" wide at the arms x 23" deep. The seating area measures 19" wide x 16.5" deep. Please note that the larger captain's armchair has turned legs while the side chairs legs are straight. These chairs were part of an estate that included a lovely 48" round table with two 9" leaves. This auction is for the chairs only. The table is listed separately on eBay. ... moreI have included a picture(see pic#12) of the set. I am willing to consider selling the chairs separately if you don't need all 8. Condition The chairs are all extremely sturdy and extremely well-built. They have the S.Bent& Bros. Gardner Mass stamp on the underside of each seat(see pic#11) Because of the age of these chairs. They do have scratches and rubs and the finish is worn in areas on each chair. Most of the wear is on the seat, arm rests and low on the legs. There are two chairs(one side and the single captain) that have numerous scratches on the seats(see pics#9, 10) The maple grain is gorgeous and they are unbelievably sturdy. This is a set of 2 mid century modern chairs from the 1950s in excellent condition. Both chairs are identical. In excellent structural and cosmetic condition. The original owner had it until I recently bought at a estate sale. The daughter told me her mother loved these chairs so much she embellished them to update the look. Originally the swivel base and poll were brown(wood) As as you can see she painted in silver with green accents. She also painted the wood bracket that holds the back of the chair in off white with green accents. If you are a purist. The embellishment/paint can be striped and restored to the original state. Chairs measure: 31" tall. 20" deep(front to back) 24" wide(widest side to side) seat is 17" high, swivel is 20" in diameter. Table in center not included! Made of Red Oak. 33" high. 21 3/4" from outside edges of the arms across, seat is 17 7/8" from front to back, 20 1/2" across the width of the seat, 16 5/8" from the floor to the seat top, legs are 21 1/2" from the outside of the two front and two back legs, the side legs are just over 19" from base to base. seat is about 1 1/2" thick. Rare Pair 1950's Bruno Weill for Thonet Bent-Ply Arm Chairs Mid Century Modern
This is a beautiful and rare matching pair of Thonet Ply-Bent chairs designed by Bruno Weill. They are in very good condition with moderate paint wear and some minor edge defects. There is a dark stain on the seat of one. There is some splitting in the seat but they are solid and strong. They could use repainting and the coat that is on it now would make a good base to paint over. They measures approx 21" wide. 21" deep and 32" high at the back. To save significantly on shipping the chairs will be disassembled if it can be done safely. The seats have some separation and will likely be in sections when they are removed from the legs. We are pleased to offer this EXCEPTIONAL pair of vintage(1980s) Ratan accent or dining chairs. These beautiful chairs have gorgeous lines and unique side profiles. They feature a"faux arm" with curved cane side supports that extend from the top of the back to the front of the chairs creating a double. Front leg. The chairs have wooden seats which have been covered with a beautiful, vintage barkcloth fabric. The fabric is white with a vine, leaf and floral accent. The chairs are in very good condition. They have a white painted finish with some minor wear to the finish in just a few areas. They have the normal, random, and minor"splitting" in a few areas of the canes.
