It is Danish circa 1960, for me to give you the name of the designer would take a lot of time to research, It looks like Hans Wegner but I am not sure. knowing the name of the designer would increase the value of the chairs. These chairs are(faintly) stamped on bottom"Made in Denmark" I have seen other similiar chairs by Farstrup and Tapiovaara. But these seem of better quality than Farstrup. The teak ply seats have nice and suttle curves, the chair back top rails are solid dark teak, almost looking like rosewood, but I am told they are a dark teakwood, as some would refer to an African teak, if there is such a species. These chairs are alll in excellent vintage condition. There are some light scratches and wear to black spindles and legs, but overall are in very good condition considering age, and ready to use. Six(6) Frits Henningsen chairs for Carl Hansen. Denmark, 1940. Solid oak. From the estate of a local architect, they are project chairs but in very good overall condition. They were not abused, just improperly stored, hot and cold, causing some of the glue joints to loosen. While some are usable as is, they will require attention to fully restore them. Here are the issues: Four of the chairs show separation where the bow meets the arm. Two of the chairs have a broken spindle and lastly, one of the chair seats has separated along a seam. All easily fix-able by an experienced woodworker. Please see photos. Many of the chairs show light water spots. Two of the chairs retain their original Carl Hansen, made in Denmark label under the seat. Five good original condition Arne Vodder Danish Modern dining chairs. Solid teak(or walnut? frames with burnt orange wool seats. The fabric appears to be original and is in good shape. The foam seat and wicker backs and also in good condition. No tears or breaks. Four armless chairs and one with armchair, the armchair is missing the backrest, see last photo. The backs pivot and are easily interchangeable. The joints are strong and tight, one joint shows slight movement. Overall very good vintage condition with age appropriate wear. They are each 100% SOLID TEAK throughout(even the seat support frame) with removable upholstered seat and back cushions and rubber support straps. Great looking from any viewing angle and they provide excellent comfort. Cushions were redone with new foam and fabric. Upholstery ... moreis a wonderful neutral grey. So will match in any color scheme decor. Both chairs hallmark stamped on the undersides. The seat backs will each detach(two hidden bolts) to make these shippable via UPS in two boxes. measurements Overall each chair measures 25 5/8" high wide by 25" deep by 29" high at the seat back. I had them redone and they are absolutely beautiful. The wood grain on these chairs are gorgeous. The curvature of the arms are so sleek. These chairs where definitely taken care of because the cushions are in excellent shape. I was going to use them as the off white/beige side. The orange color is so popular now in decoration you can have two different looks! Keep in mind these chairs are approximately 40-50 years old there are a few light blemishes on the cushions but none that stand ... moreout they did not even show when I took a pic. They are the original cushions and fabric that's what is so cool about these chairs too. Foam is firm no sagging in the cushions. Form is excellent. The original wood part of the chairs had some minor scratches and wear and I did not like them not being perfect so I had them redone. That alone cost me $275. The chairs are unmarked and are probably not ... moremade by Johanes Hansen but appear to have all the same design elements with the exception of the corner blocks(pictured) All the same these chairs are vintage. Look virtually identical and have recently been recaned by Cane and basket in Los Angeles. They do incredible work and the work on these chairs was over $1000.00. The chairs are constructed of oak and wicker. At one point they were upholstered by someone who didn'd know what they were doing and some of the staple holes are visible(pictured) The finish is original and the grain of the oak is deep and figural. One chair has a repaired center crossbar(pictured) These chairs are very sturdy with no wobbles or loose joints.The set of four chairs. Although not perfect they do have a wonderful and warm patina and make a great Danish Modern statement. These are a very nice example of a rare set of chairs. And the seats have just been rewoven with new danish cording! The chairs are in fantastic condition. No structural issues, no cording/seat issues, no cracks, repairs, etc. one chair has a small dent on the back leg, and is missing a small chip out of the back support bar(see pics, one pic details this chip. but overall, is Id give them both an overall score of 8.5 out of 10 for condition. Four authentic Borge Mogensen J39 dining chairs in good to very good vintage condition. No loose joints. They're all are very strong. Solid European beech wood, made in Denmark in the 1960's or 70's. Labeled Mobler. Alternatively known as the'People's Chair' the'Shaker Chair' and the J39 chairs they were designed in 1947 and have been in production ever since. Current retail is nearly $600 per chair. All chairs show wear from normal use, but nothing that takes away, no cracks of gouges, just general surface wear. This auction is for a set of 4 Hans Wegner Designed Yugoslavian Rope Folding Chairs. CONDITION: I would give these chairs a 6 out of 10 on wear. Two chairs have very minor unraveling of rope. Rope has normal wear and scuffs from use. One chair has a small wood pressure crack near one of the brass inlets which is common for these chairs. The crack is NOT all the way through.
