Here is a fabulous pair of early to mid-twentieth century French country arm chairs with rush bottom seats. Cabriole legs, carved feet and beautifully carved across the front of the seat as well as the backrest with a shell and flower motif as shown. These two chairs are in very nice condition for their age as represented with multiple pictures. The chairs are both tight and sturdy with strong, tight rush bottom seats that were probably replaced in the latter 20th century. The chairs each stand 38 inches tall to the top of the back and measure 21 1/2 inches wide by 22 inches front to back. The seats are 15 inches in height and are 20 1/2 inches wide by 18 1/2 inches, front to back. The back rest and across front of the seats on the chairs are beautifully carved and appear to have hand turned stretchers. These chairs appear to be made of walnut, ... morewith rush bottom seats. This is Chair"B" as marked on a piece of tape and placed on the chair and base to identify which chair you are purchasing as there are two that I am selling at the same time. This one has a label on the bottom of the chair with a date stamp of 1977. The color may appear different on your screen. But it is a very nice and bright orange. This chair shows some wear from use but is in very nice condition. There are no tears or holes in the orange material. There are a couple of minor spots from use. Stitching seems to be in good condition, couldn't find any loose strings. Fiberglass shell with orange upholstered vinyl. Chair ... moreswivels around 360 degrees, and all four wheels are included. These are a great pair of vintage Herman Miller Chairs. They are in good solid condition. They do have some scrapes and scratches as you can see in the pictures. But no major damage. The one with black legs is slightly shorter, maybe 1/8 in. These chairs have been kept inside. I only took them out long enough to take pictures. This lot is for a very old Chippendale Arm Chair. I do not know the origin of the chair or the age. Measurements for the chair are as follows: 42 1/2" H 24" W 24" D Seat Height 22 1/2. Top of seat rail is 18" Upholstered seat is NOT screwed in- seat measures 21" W at the front. 16 3/4" at the back and 16 1/2" D. Back of seat slat measures 10 1/4" W x 22" H Claw and Ball foot measures 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 3" H The shell on the front seat rail measures 3 7/8" W x 3 1/2" H. If you want any other measures or photos. Please ask. Condition issues: This chair needs a little bit of tender loving care. The arm joints just under where your hands would rest are loose. See the 5th and 6th photos. The vertical joint beneath the arm rests need to be glued. There is also a small piece of ... morewood missing at the top of the vertical arm support. That is in the 5th photo. The front leg needs to be glued the to front seat rail too. This chair is very heavy and STURDY even with above mentioned joint issues. The seat cover needs to be done. The existing one is a needlepoint that has condition issues- HOLES to be exact. The seat back slat varnish is odd. It is not shiny at all. I cant describe it. You might be able to see it in the 4th photo. With proper love and repair as well as a new seat cover. This can be an unbelievable accent chair, desk chair or dining chair. Again. Showing some wear and marks here and there, but no cracks or damage. Color is an off-white to pale yellow. Label is missing(was this way when I got it) The base is held on with a couple of non-original bolts on front, and the feet are newer plastic replacements, but otherwise it appears to be all original. The legs are solid iron rods. Chair is being offered with free local pickup on the northwest side of Chicago. I have tried to remove the legs for shipping. But I cannot get the screws to come out. Rare Zenith Rope Edge Eames Herman Miller Fiberglass Arm Shell Chair Early 1950s
Listed for sale is an all extremely rare and all original Eames rope edge fiberglass arm shell in lemon yellow with an original X base. Enlarged shock mounts, original screws, and original washers. The chair was manufactured by Zenith for Herman Miller and is one from the earliest generation of Eames armshells. The rope edge was discontinued after a short period of production due to the added expense of an additional step in the manufacturing process. The shell has not been cleaned heavily and thus could be made to look flawless if so desired. The current state is absolutely original. It has also never been worked on or coated with anything. The shell is absolutely original, as is the base. Please also refer to many similar items in my store. Fiberglass Excellent condition with nice gloss to the shell. It has not been coated or refinished ... moreand is original. Shock Mounts and Screws The shock mounts are all original and are still stable on the chair. The screws are all original as well and are still tight into the shock mounts. Base The X base is in excellent shape with visible signs of age. Shipping Options The buyer may pick up the chair. LOCAL PICK UP ONLY: Great pair of Eames fiberglass shell arm chairs by Herman Miller. In gray(greige? with black H-bases. In my family since they were purchased more than 50 years ago. Have the Herman Miller patent labels on the bottoms, and the stamp"November 14, 1957. All original parts, with all of their feet/glides. In excellent condition, with just expected minor overall wear. Lightly used for the past 40 years, much of that time with seat cushion. One base needs slight tightening. Approx dimenstions: 31.5 high. 24.5 wide, 20" deep.I think these are the DAX 18" seat height, but they might be the SAX 17" UWS brownstone- two flights of stairs.

Nice example of an early Eames Zenith Rope Edge shell chair. Displays very well. Solid. Stable and very usable. Appears to have had a refinish at some point. You can see the original graining and color on the back and underside. Seating surface refinished in a clear satin/flat sheen and possibly tinted to enhance the natural color. This is how I found it and have not attempted any further restoration. Original large diameter Zenith shockmounts. Condition: Overall Very Good condition with aging and wear as expected for a chair of this age. Seat has drilled hole. Minimal edge wear. No cracks or structural damage. I have about 700 items listed and more on the way. This is a nice set of chairs marked Herman Miller on the bottom. these are in good overall shape but have wear and tear from normal use. I showed a couple of close up pics. One plastic foot ring is missing but the main plastic part is still there and those are easy to find and replace anyway. Orange Herman Miller Fiberglass Arm Shell Chair Wonderful and comfortable classic seating option for any mid mod home. Charles Eames design for Herman Miller. Bright orange vinyl upholstered shell chair with arms. Cream colored fiberglass shell on a zinc H base. New shock mounts. Marked Herman Miller. Dated Apr 28 1976. In allover good condition. No major rips or tears to vinyl upholstery, seam stitching nice. Orange vinyl is a bit faded on arms with a few slight cracks. Some marks and allover tonal discoloration to upholstery.
