There is no identification as to the maker but based on similar chair examples we have seen we believe it was made by Kalp-Sons. Santa Fe, Ca. The table has a harvest gold Formica top with rattan and cane edging and a rattan base. The rattan frame chairs have cane backs with cloth fabric seats having a butterflies print. Measurements: Table Height: 28” Table Top without Leaf: 43” x 55” Table Top with Leaf: 43” x 73” Table Leaf: 18” wide Chair Seat Height: 17” Chair Overall Height: 35” Seat Diameter: 18” Condition: As is typical of vintage and antique furniture. The set is not perfect. The finish shows some wear, understandable for a 40 +/ year old piece of furniture but considering its age it is still in decent shape. The caning on the back of one chair has been replaced and though it was a decent job. It is noticeable and not quite the same as the factory job. The cushions have been reupholstered with a butterfly print cloth and the seats are all in very good condition. A few screws have been added randomly to the bases of the chairs for tightening and strengthening and they are structurally solid. The base of the table is structurally solid and in very good condition. The original Formica top shows minor wear and is in very good condition. A nice feature of the table is the ease of installing and removing the leaf with the patented mechanism making it so only one person can easily do the job in seconds. The set shows a little wear from its intended use but certainly is presentable and displays nicely. Overall condition is very good and it will give many more years of service. The upholstery has no tears that I noticed and are moderately clean, however, underneath the fabric that covers the burlap and springs does have some wear. Sewing Rocker w/ Caned Seat - Wisconsin estate find - mid century country chair
Beautiful mid century sewing rocker from a NW Wisconsin estate sale. I believe the wood is pine and it is nicely stained and in good condition for its age. The caning is firm. I have a second nearly identical chair for auction as well. They look great together but each can stand alone. If you do buy both the price will be $120. I would prefer not to ship this chair but will research it if you are interested. I would need your address. It will take time to find the right box etc. I can deliver to the Twin Cities. There is a small piece of wood missing from the bottom side on the left leg on the sofa. Can be repaired or left alone. It is not something you will see and does not affect the structure.
